One day, a rich old businessman meets a factory worker, a coach and a fisherman. He gives them three seeds （种子） and says, "Bring （带来） me the flowers in three months. The man with the most beautiful 1 can have my money!"

After three months, the factory worker brings a big red flower. The coach brings a small purple flower. But the poor 2 brings nothing. He is very sad.

"I don't know why!" he says. "I 3 it every day."

will not grow! The money is yours."

A stupid farmer

In a faraway village, a farmer used to help a businessman without asking for anything in return. The businessman wanted to thank the farmer, so he gave him a big healthy goat.

The man carried the goat on his shoulders（肩膀）and starts walking back home. Three naughty boys saw him and wanted to trick（捉弄） him.

The first boy came to him and asked，"Why are you carrying a dog on your shoulders？" The man got angry and told the boy that it was a goat and not a dog.

As he kept walking, the second boy passed by and asked why he was carrying a dead calf（小牛） on his shoulders. The farmer answered angrily, "You fool! Can't you see this is a goat?" However, the second boy's question made the farmer feel worried and afraid.

After walking for some more distance, the third boy came towards the farmer, and asked with full curiosity（好奇心）, "Why are you carrying a donkey on your shoulders?"

Finally，the worried farmer got very afraid，thinking the goat was really a monster（怪物）.

The three boys took the goat away，laughed at the man and said， "What a foolish man he is!"
