Mark and Rosa wanted to go on holiday in a place called San Antonio. They worked very hard for several years. Finally, they made enough money for their dream 1. But their dream was more like a nightmare(噩梦)!

    They decided to go for two weeks in the spring2they heard that the weather was perfect there at that time.

    The problem3when the flight(航班)was delayed(延误)because of bad weather. They couldn't leave until night. They 4 got on the plane twelve hours late! But they 5fly to San Antonio because there was a storm. They had to fly to the capital city instead. There they stayed in a small hotel 6the airport.

    The hotel was next to the sea, but the sea was so dirty that they couldn't swim in it. And the hotel swimming pool was full of leaves! To make things7, the food was awful, too. For breakfast there was 8bread and milk! The worst part was when the storm arrived. They felt really9because of the wind and rain.

    Because of the weather they had to stay another night in the small hotel with10to do. They arrived in San Antonio three days late in the end. And someone told them the weather there had been wonderful all the time.  

    Tongtong is three years old. She likes1English very much. Her mother2 English in a high school.

    Tongtong likes to3English cartoon videos. She plays games with her dolls and4with them in English. She learns a lot by watching the videos. Sometimes she can5but doesn't know the6. When her mother comes back home，she will tell Tongtong what the words and sentences mean.

    Tongtong's mother thinks that interest is important，and7is more important. Tongtong has great interest in English speaking. She can learn to speak by8and listening. But she should have chances(机会)to use it. So her mother tries to talk with her in English at home and takes her to the 9at school. Though Tongtong makes many mistakes，her English improves10.

    Two boys were walking down a road. They noticed a man 1 in the field. The younger boy looked at his elder friend and said, "Let's hide his shoes 2 he won't be able to find them. It must be funny!"

    David was a middle school student. His father, Mr. Hill, was a rich farmer and he had a very big 1. They lived in a small village for fifteen years. Later on Mr. Hill opened a shop in our town and 2 a house here last month. Then his family moved to the new house and David began to study in our class. But David was shy, so it was not easy for him to 3 friends.

After the man ordered the meal, Mary said, "I know you are 13hungry now. Please sit on the comfortable 14 and enjoy your meal. You are my friend now."15 in the restaurant was greatly moved." How kind a girl she is!" they all thought.

Why do you open a school? If you ask Nadia Lopez this question, she would simply answer: to close a prison. Lopez is the founder of Mott Hall Bridges Academy, a public school in Brooklyn. {#blank#}1{#/blank#}

To set up the school, Lopez faced many challenges. The greatest challenge was to get in touch with children without hope. At first, Lopez only had 45 kids. She once asked some girls, "{#blank#}2{#/blank#}" The answer was, "I don't know if I'm going to live that long." or "I have a lifelong goal of working in a fast-food restaurant nearby." These students had no idea that there were great chances outsider their neighborhood.

{#blank#}3{#/blank#} And they have tried their best to keep their students active an hopeful. "We call our students students 'scholars（学者）' because they are lifelong learners. I chose the colors purple and black to remind students that they are excellent. {#blank#}4{#/blank#} They can be future engineers, scientists and even leaders who can and will take over this world," Lopez said.

A popular New York blogger heard about the school and wrote a post about it, telling people how the children struggled（挣扎）, and why people must make education the most important thing. {#blank#}5{#/blank#} About 1.4 million dollars were raised for the school and its students got to take field trips to colleges and universities.

"Up to now, we have had three graduating classes（毕业班）. They have nearly 200 children," said Lopez.
