The sun was already beginning to sink. The air was somewhat bitter. It was Robert's 12th birthday. But Robert was walking home alone with his eyes focusing on his worn-out shoes.Kids after school were riding by in twos and threes, ringing their bicycle bells merrily. Robert didn't raise up his head, but he knew clearly that those guys were wearing big smiles on their faces, and that the strings of their bike wheels were shining in the golden sunlight. "How lucky they are!" Robert thought to himself. He admired everyone who had his own bike. He had dreamed many times that he was one of those who were on their bikes to and from school. He really wanted a bike, especially as a gift for his 12th birthday. However, Robert was clear that his family couldn't afford it. His parents worked hard only to meet their daily life need.Fortunately, the family lived happily together regardless of the poor condition. Robert should be satisfied with it. But he just couldn't help feeling sad about not being able to own a bike.

Soon the sun disappeared from nowhere and the street lamps were on, casting Robert's figure on the ground. Looking down at his moving shadow, Robert stopped his steps suddenly. He stretched out(伸出) both of his arms with his hands holding something tightly, and then raised his right leg and left leg in turn to push himself forward. Definitely, the figure on the ground did as Robert did. It seemed that he was riding a bike. A brand new black handsome bike! A bike that Robert had been dreaming of. The imagination excited and delighted Robert a lot. He sped up his imaginary bike towards his home happily. The air became sweet and gentle.

注意:

1.续写词数应为150 左右;

2.请按如下格式在答题卡的相应位置作答。

When Robert got home, the house was dark and it seemed nobody was there.

One pleasant New Year morning, Edward got up and dressed himself in a hurry. He wanted to be the first to wish everyone a happy New Year. He went into every room, and shouted the words of welcome. Then he ran into the street to repeat them to those he met. When he came back, his father gave him two bright, new silver dollars. His face lighted up as he took them. He had wished for a long time to buy some nice books that he had seen at the bookstore.

As he ran down the street with a light heart to the bookshop, he saw a poor German family—the father, mother, and three children shivering(发抖) in the cold wind.

"I wish you a happy New Year," said Edward, as he was happily passing by. The man shook his head. "You do not belong to this country?" asked Edward. The man again shook his head, for he could not understand or speak English. But he pointed to his mouth, and to the children, as if to say, "These little ones have had nothing to eat for a long time." Edward quickly understood that these people were poor and in a very difficult situation and required some help. He took out his dollars, and gave one to the man, and the other to his wife.

How their eyes sparkled (闪耀)with gratitude! They said something in their language, which doubtlessly meant, "We thank you a thousand times, and will remember you forever."

When Edward came home, his father asked what books he had bought. He hung his head a moment, but quickly looked up. "I have bought no books," said he, "I gave my money to some poor people, who seemed to be very hungry."

It happened when Tom was only ten years old. That day he was at home with his elder sister Jane. Tom was doing his homework when he heard raised voices. At first he didn't think seriously about it at first, since it was always noisy downstairs, but he soon realized this time it was different.

"Quick! Quick! Remove the motorcycles from the shop." someone yelled.

Then a thick burning smell filled the air. When Tom opened the front door of their flat to check, a thick cloud of smoke greeted him. The motorcycle shop had caught fire and people were running and crying.

Jane, who had been playing the violin in her room, hurried to the living room. They rushed out of the door and along the corridor (走廊) through the smoke.

They were heading towards the stairway at the far end of the corridor when Jane suddenly stopped. She turned around and headed back the way they came. Tom had no idea what she was doing, but he followed her.

Jane had suddenly remembered the lady in her 70s who lived next door to them, who they called Mackie. Jane began banging on Mackie's door, but got no answer. As the smoke thickened around them, Tom could see many of their neighbors—some still in their pyjamas (睡衣) —running for safety. The thought of fear crossed his mind.

"She would have run for safety like everyone else!" Tom cried. However, Jane refused to give up. "I know Mackie's still inside." She said she was familiar with Mackie's daily routine and was certain she would still be sleeping. She pounded against the door. "Go downstairs. Go now! Go!"

December 16, 2009 was the worst day of my mother's life. It was on that day that she was told her thirty-six-year-old daughter had developed breast cancer. I would never forget her hopeless expression and tear-filled eyes as I told her. That scene uncontrollably broke my heart. It was one of the few times in my life that I had seen my mother was so painful and weak.

Since I got breast cancer, the doctors had made a heavy-duty plan to fight with it, which would mean an operation on my breast, five months of chemotherapy (化疗), and five weeks of radiation therapy. It also meant that an independent single girl who lived alone was in serious need of some help and care.

Thankfully, I was blessed with my own army of family, friends and co-workers who had offered to help me out with whatever I might need, including meals and rides to doctors' appointments. But as grateful as I was, there really was only one person who I wanted by my side — my mom. Despite living 300 miles away, my mother agreed even without a second thought. She was going to be my primary caregiver, driver, personal cook, nurse, counselor, and shoulder to cry on. No one else in the world could fill her shoes. It was a job that only she could do.

The night after my first chemotherapy treatment was firmly fixed in my memory. I was never so sick in my entire life. I couldn't even keep down a glass of water. And after hours spent in the bathroom, I weakly lifted myself into bed, weeping, "Please, God, take this away from me. Please make me fed better." At that moment, my mother crawled into bed with me and wrapped her entire body around me. It looked as if l had still been a little girl.

Paragraph 1:

Over the next six months, my mom traveled between two homes just to take care of me.

Paragraph 2:

However, when I finally began to recover, my morn suddenly fell ill.
