The popularity of ancient towns in the south of the Yangtze River, such as Zhouzhuang and Wuzhen, has aroused a nationwide trend in the construction of ancient towns. Lin Peng, the director of China's Institute of Ancient Cities and Cultural Studies, pointed {#blank#}1{#/blank#} that there are more than 2,800 developed or developing ancient towns in our country, {#blank#}2{#/blank#} is definitely the highest number globally.

In ancient towns, {#blank#}3{#/blank#} immersive（沉浸式） experience being mentioned here is historical and cultural characteristics—the "ancient" of ancient towns. Apart from visible "special buildings", characteristics also include invisible "culture". Tourists in ancient towns want to see the living {#blank#}4{#/blank#} （condition） of local people, feel the vitality of town life, try characteristic local snacks {#blank#}5{#/blank#} （influence） by geography and folk customs, and understand how long history {#blank#}6{#/blank#} （shape） local culture. Out of modern fast-paced work and life, tourists want to awaken their inner softness with a slow-moving ancient town.

Touring ancient towns is for recreation, relaxation, and pleasure, {#blank#}7{#/blank#} if all the ancient towns in different places are the same and cannot find their own {#blank#}8{#/blank#} （unique）, then ancient town tourism will {#blank#}9{#/blank#} （eventual） decline. Let every ancient town become a unique historical imprint（印记）, so that tourists can find their "poetry and distance" while {#blank#}10{#/blank#} （wander） through the ancient towns. This is the soul that ancient towns need to regain.

 "BANG!" I pulled the door heavily behind me. "Never set foot in this house again!" stormed father. I rushed out of the flat and ran along the street.

A young man who held a child in his arms walked past me. I felt as if I saw my childhood from another space: happy and carefree. But now...I don't know whether it is because I have grown up or because Dad is getting old. We differ in our ways of thinking. We are just like two people coming from two different worlds. It feels like there is an iron(铁制的) door between us that can never be opened.

Dad was always like this. Maybe he didn't know how to express himself. After an argument he had the habit of tucking me underneath the covers(掖被子) while I was sleeping. This was how he always was. He had been a leader for so long that telling everyone else what to do had become his second nature.

The light was still on.

"Am I wrong?" I whispered, maybe... With the key in hand, I was as nervous as I had ever been. At last, I decided to open the door. As soon as I opened the door, tears ran down my cheeks. I suddenly realized that the iron door that I had imagined between us did not exist at all. Love——it's second to none.

Grief ran through the first decade of my career. I photographed stories about terrible topics: immigration, conflict, war. On the cover of my notebook in 2019, I wrote, "Discover the joy again." It was intended to remind me to play more.

Sometimes I'd get a rare assignment where I could breathe — for example, photographing an article on tea for an airline magazine. I took the job hoping to make interesting, almost movie images, but at the end of the day, I found I'd made nothing of the sort. Packing up my camera, I felt like a failure.

On the drive back to the hotel, I noticed heavy steam rising from a building up ahead. Arriving at the scene, I opened the car door — and realized it was a tourist attraction traditionally pulled by a steam engine. Then, out of nowhere, a figure ran toward me. I picked up my camera and quickly made three pictures. One was out of focus. One was poorly composed. But one worked.

When I submitted my pictures to the editor for the tea article, this one wasn't chosen to be published, but I knew it meant something to me. I had been looking for good luck in my own life. This photograph symbolized exactly that.

I was 27 when I first traveled to India after the sudden passing of my father. Over many months, with my best friend, I traversed India with no phone, with limited Internet, and with healing as my compass. I climbed mountains, swam in the sea, and lived in relief entirely.

As I learned to travel to some of the world's cities with the largest population, I began to see life with more color and magic. I permitted myself to walk aimlessly, with no goal but to observe, and each moment became a dance. If this journey taught me anything, it's that what comes next will bring its own magic.

Zhang Guimei taught at a school during the day and took care of a children's home in her spare time. One day, Zhang met a teenage girl {#blank#}1{#/blank#} told Zhang that her family was too poor {#blank#}2{#/blank#} (afford) school fees. Zhang went to persuade her parents to allow their daughter to continue schooling {#blank#}3{#/blank#}, the parents refused Zhang. With the little girl lingering in her mind, Zhang tried to figure out how to help those poor local girls.

In 2007, Zhang {#blank#}4{#/blank#} (elect) as a representative of the 17th National Congress of the Communist Party of China and attended the meeting in Beijing. A news report on Zhang helped her ambition of building a school {#blank#}5{#/blank#} girls gained the attention of Huaping county officials and other {#blank#}6{#/blank#} (support). A year later, Huaping Girls' High School, China's {#blank#}7{#/blank#} (one) tuition-free high school, opened and enrolled 100 students, with Zhang as its president. Most of the girls were from remote areas.

In July 2021, she was one of the recipients of this year's July 1st Medal, the {#blank#}9{#/blank#} (high) honor for a Communist Party of China member, for her outstanding contributions to education in the {#blank#}10{#/blank#} (mountain) region.
