浙江省舟山市定海区金衢山五校联考2024年初中毕业生第三次质量监测英语试题卷
Our English teacher Mrs. Wang let us do an English project—researching the Chinese traditional festivals. Here are two groups' reports about it.
The subject we've chosen is Lantern Festival. We've collected much information about the festival by doing some reading in the library. Lantern Festival has a history of about 2, 000 years. It's celebrated on the 15th day of the first lunar (阴历) month. People get together to enjoy colorful lanterns and play riddle (谜语) games. Small gifts are usually offered when they get right answers. It's a tradition to eat tangyuanon this special day. As for the next step, we will make our own lanterns and make some English riddles. This will help us understand the meaning of the festival better. | Linda: |
We learned about Dragon Boat Festival. To do the research, we searched for information online and visited a local museum about culture and customs. We've learned a lot about the festival. With a history of about 2,000 years, Dragon Boat Festival falls on the 5th day of the fifth lunar month. People usually celebrate it by watching boat races. Zongziis the most traditional food that is eaten to honour the great poet Qu Yuan. Next, we plan to learn how to make zongzi, and produce an English video to make the festival known by more people around the world. | John: |

How do you look after your cat? Introduction The first step to becoming a good cat owner (主人) is to choose the right kind of cat. It is how a cat behaves that is the most important, not what she looks like or how old she is. She is going to be your best friend. You will spend a lot of time playing together. But remember, you need to look after her every day. Not just to start with, but for all her life. Understanding your pet By watching your cat closely, you will learn her special way of talking. From the movement of her tail or ears, you will see if she is happy or sad. And you will soon understand what she is saying when she miaows. Caring for your pet You will only be your cat's best friend if you care for her properly. You will need to make sure that she eats the right foods, always has water, and can get plenty of exercise every day. You will also have to bathe(给……洗澡) her often and spend some time training her. |

A park, a bus stop, and a coffee shop... These are the favorite places for {#blank#}1{#/blank#} children to hang out (闲逛). US students have short school days, and their parents often work for long {#blank#}2{#/blank#} . So they have a lot of free time to hang out. Sometimes, they sit on the grass in the park and talk with each other. Sometimes, they just watch people {#blank#}3{#/blank#} from the streets and do nothing.
Is that a waste(浪费) of time? Maybe it is. I wasted a lot of time when I was a child! But it was fun. It {#blank#}4{#/blank#} me with my observation skills(观察力). Also I always want to learn something new.
Now, I exercise a lot in my free time. I am also learning {#blank#}5{#/blank#} things, drawing and IT. These hobbies make me an interesting person.
