The Car in the Future

In 1987, a small company named Huawei was started in Shenzhen. After more than 30 years of development, now, the company {#blank#}1{#/blank#} (beat) Apple and become the world's second largest maker of smartphones. It has also become the world's supplier (供应者) of 5G. In China and even in the world, Huawei is a wonder. {#blank#}2{#/blank#} it started producing mobile phones not many years ago, it has become one of the most famous phone companies.

But recently, Huawei faces some {#blank#}3{#/blank#} (difficulty). The US government made a law to stop its sales in America. American officials said Huawei gave information that it collected to the Chinese government. At the same time, the US government planned to stop {#blank#}4{#/blank#} (sell) parts and services to Huawei. They believed that Huawei's business would {#blank#}5{#/blank#} (hurt) this way.

"We have never received such a request from the Chinese government and we have never tried to get into other systems to collect information," Ren Zhengfei, Huawei's president said. "The law would have little effect on our company. Huawei has enough ability to deal with the problems," Ren added.

In an interview several years ago, Ren Zhengfei said, "I started Huawei with only £4000 at the {#blank#}6{#/blank#} (begin), but now it has become a 100 billion company. The experience was not as romantic as you imagine."

Facing the law of the US, Huawei {#blank#}7{#/blank#} (grow). Huawei's smartphone sales around the world rose 50 percent compared with a year {#blank#}8{#/blank#} (early) in the first three months of 2023. At the same time, sales from both Samsung and Apple fell. So far, Huawei has grown into the world's largest telecommunication equipment supplier (供应商), selling in 170 countries. It may beat Samsung as the largest smartphone maker in the near future.

①Colours are everywhere in our life. They have different meanings in different countries. Red is very important in China. Chinese people think it is a colour of good luck and happiness. So in China, you can see many red things here and there. 

②In the New Year, Chinese parents always put some money in a red envelope named hongbao. They give it to their children because they hope they can be healthy. People also write some good words on the red paper called chunlian as good wishes for the New Year. 

③On birthdays, some Chinese people like wearing red clothes and eating red eggs. They hope they can be healthy and have a long life. 

④For Chinese people, red is not just the name of the colour. In fact, it's the colour of the Chinese spirit(精神). 

 Late that night, we started our final part of the climb. Nervously we carried on after a short rest. Everyone looked 1 . Outside of the tent it was totally black. It was just after2 . Snow was falling. It was freezing.

 The group climbed silently through deep snow. I could not think. The height of the mountain was playing tricks on my 3 . I tried to keep concentrated by watching my feet and counting to ten 4 .

 Every man wants his son to be somewhat of a clone(克隆). So do I. My son Jody has  1 school since day one in kindergarten. Science projects waited until the last moment. Book reports weren't written until the last minute.

I' ve been a  2 all my adult life. My daughter is a university student who is  3 in learning language. Jody? When he entered the tenth grade he became a"vo-tech" student(技校学生). They' re called"motorheads" by the rest of the students.

I was  4 when an assistant in my office first called him" motorhead". "Hey, he' s a good kid," I wanted to say. "And smart, really."

I learned later that motorheads are, indeed,5 . They usually have dirty hands and wear dirty work clothes. And they don't often make school honor rolls(光荣榜).

I have learned a lot from my motorhead: publishers need printers, engineers need mechanics. My son may never make the school honor roll. But he made15 . I don't want him to be my clone anymore!
