Traditional Chinese opera is finding new life in a different art form. More than100 primary school teachers came to a training course to pass on the art to schoolchildren. After learning Chinese opera-themed (戏剧题材的) cartoons, they are now confident that they can spark (激发) children's interest.

    These school teachers proved to be quick learners in Chinese opera. They are practising a classic piece of Yueju Opera, a major branch of the Chinese opera family.

    Fang Tingting, the performer of Shanghai Yueju Opera Troupe, said, "I was actually nervous about teaching them, because I thought they may not be interested. But their passion (热情) swept away my worries. I think they will do well in helping Chinese opera."

Cartoons naturally attract the attention of children. Introducing Chinese opera to them in this way proved to be great.

    Liu Hui,a school teacher, said, "The children are really interested in the cartoons. As teachers, we give them some directions and they start to copy something from the opera."

    The teachers also believed this digital method really builds a bridge between the children and this traditional art form. And it really helps them learn the rich culture of China. They are glad to be trained here to take on this task.

If you live with one parent, you know that a lot of other kids do, too. More than 20 million kids in the United States live with one parent. Separation(分离) and divorce(离婚) are the most common reasons for this. In other cases, the mom and dad may never have lived together, or one of them may have died. 

Living with one parent instead of two can bring out a lot of emotions. These feelings can be pretty strong, and they can be confusing, too. You might feel terribly sad and angry because your parents divorced. 

You also might feel happy that your parents split up and aren't fighting anymore, but you may also feel upset when your mom brings home a man that she is dating. You might love the uncle or grandma who takes care of you, but sometimes you might wish you could have one family with both a mom and a dad. 

Emotions all by themselves aren't either good or bad. They're just feelings. Because living with one parent can sometimes be stressful, it can help to talk about it. You can talk with your parent, a relative, school teacher, or another trusted adult. Talking with other kids who live with single parents can be a great idea, too.

March 14 is a great day for fans of maths. It is celebrated as Pi(π) Day, a day to celebrate the number that many people know very well. The date copies from the first three numbers of Pi(π). March is the third month and the 14th means one and four. Altogether it is 3.14. Pi(π) comes wherever there are circles(圆). Pi has been known for thousands of years and gets its name from a Greek letter, n. The Greeks are believed to be the earliest to use the letter in maths. The first Pi Day was celebrated on March 14,1988.

San Francisco's Exploratorium Science Museum started the event. The museum marks the day with a daylong celebration. March 14 is also the birthday of the famous scientist Albert Einstein. Princeton University, where Einstein lived for many years, celebrates Pi Day as well. March 14,2009, was celebrated as National Pi Day. And March 14,2019 also marked the one- year anniversary(周年纪念[1]) of the death of Stephen Hawking. And how do people celebrate the Pi(π) Day? Maybe you can try these ideas:

Eat or make different kinds of pies(for example, apple pies, cherry pies, and even pizza pies);

Celebrate the day with a pie cut using the mathematical constant(常数) of Pi(π);

Discuss the importance of the letter π;

Watch Life of Pi in cinemas;

Look for the number 3.14 in every place(such as prices and street numbers).

Jim Smith is a middle school student. And he lives in New York, the USA. He is very busy during a week. He stays at school from Monday to Friday. He usually gets up at 6:30 in the morning. Then he brushes his teeth. School begins at 7:40 a.m.. He has five classes in the morning and two classes in the afternoon. He often exercises, because he thinks it is good for his health. He runs on Tuesday and Thursday after school at about 5:00 p.m.. He takes a shower at 6:00 p.m.. He does his homework from 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m.. He watches TV for an hour. Then he goes to bed at 10:00 p.m.. He isn't free on weekends. He takes a piano lesson on Saturday morning. In the afternoon, he plays soccer with his friends. 

How can you remember a song for a long time? Why does your teacher use songs to teach you English? Do you know there is a scientific (科学的) reason for this?

Scientists are studying the relationship between music and remembering a foreign language. They found that remembering words in a song is the best way to remember even the most difficult language. 

"Singing could be a new way of learning a foreign language. The brain (大脑) likes to remember things in a catchy and relaxing way. For example, children can remember difficult words quickly when they are in a song," said Dr Lude. "If children find it difficult to learn foreign languages," Dr Lude wrote, "a listen- and- repeat (重复) singing method can support foreign language learning, and open the door for future research in this area."

Many language teachers know the importance of music and they often use it in teaching and learning. Hua Zhuying, a teacher at a Chinese language school in America, likes using songs to teach Chinese. " We usually use English songs but teach them the Chinese lyrics (歌词), so it's easy to start because they know the music, " she said. "Sometimes I think if I learnt English that way when I was young, maybe I could speak English much better than now."

Our brain likes music in learning languages. especially (尤其) for remembering. If you are still having some problems in learning a language, why not try singing it out?
