A farmer was working when he heard a loud sound. He left his work at once and ran towards it. When the farmer reached there, he found a little boy in a bog (沼泽) crying out of fear. The farmer tried hard and successfully got the child out. 

The next day, a well-dressed man came to the farmer's house. He told the farmer that he was the father of the boy saved by him yesterday. He wanted to give him a large amount of money in return, but the farmer refused to accept money for saving the child. At that moment, a little boy came to the door. The rich man asked, "Is this child your son?" The farmer proudly replied, "Yes, he is my son." Then, the rich man offered to help his child in his studies, saying, "I will provide him with the same education as I give my own son. If he is anything like his father, he will grow to be a noble man." The farmer agreed, and his son was educated in the best schools until he finished his studies at St. Mary's Hospital Medical School. 

Do you know who the son of the poor farmer is? He is the Scottish scientist Alexander Fleming, the discoverer of penicillin (青霉素). 

Years passed, and the rich man fell seriously ill. A doctor saved his life. This doctor was Alexander Fleming. This rich man is Lord Randolph Churchill and his son saved by the farmer is Sir Winston Churchill (丘吉尔), Prime Minister of the United Kingdom during World War II.

Three Chinese astronauts returned to Earth today (April 30, 2024) after six months in space.

The Shenzhou-17 spaceship landed in the Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region today at 5:46 pm Beijing time, about nine hours after leaving China's Tiangong space station.

All three Shenzhou-17 members—Tang Hongbo, Tang Shengjie and Jiang Xinlin—are healthy and safe, according to Xinhua News Agency.

It was sent into space on October 25 and arrived at Tiangong about 6.5 hours later. It was China's sixth manned (载人的) visit to Tiangong.

The Shenzhou-17 crew (乘组) was the youngest crew ever to visit Tiangong: Tang Hongbo was 48, Tang Shengjie was 34 and Jiang Xinlin was 35. However, that record was just broken by the astronauts of the Shenzhou-18: Ye Guangfu, Li Guangsu and Li Cong were just 43, 36 and 34 years old.

The Shenzhou-17 crew did a lot of scientific experiments (实验) during the six months. They performed two space walks—one in December, 2023 and the other in March, 2024. On February 9, 2024, the astronauts specially recorded a video to send New Year's greetings to everyone on the space station. On April 25, they welcomed the crew of Shenzhou-18 to Tiangong space station. Five days later, Shenzhou-17 manned spaceship returned and landed successfully. The crew members were in good physical condition. This manned flight was a complete success!

Hang Son Doong in Vietnam(越南) is known as the world's largest natural cave. Last May, I went there with my friends. 

On the first day, we {#blank#}1{#/blank#} at the cave early in the morning. In the cave, we saw many rocks. Some of them were millions of {#blank#}2{#/blank#} old. There was also a natural sandbar(沙洲). It divided a green lake into {#blank#}3{#/blank#} parts. One side was warm and there were some fish swimming in it. However, the other side was very {#blank#}4{#/blank#}. 

We spent four days in the cave. Every {#blank#}5{#/blank#}, we were w oken up by the sound of birds singing. The sunlight went through the mouth of the cave. It made the lake and rocks sparkle(闪闪发光). The nights in the cave were so {#blank#}6{#/blank#} that the sound of water dropping could be heard. When I looked out of the cave, I could see a {#blank#}7{#/blank#} full of stars. 

On our last day, we were ready to leave the cave. We used the rope system to {#blank#}8{#/blank#} up a  90- meter- high wall. This was the most exciting part of the trip. When I got out of the cave {#blank#}9{#/blank#}, I felt very proud. 

During the trip, I threw {#blank#}10{#/blank#} into the arms of nature and enjoyed the beauty of the place. What a fantastic trip!

Evan, an orange and white fox, has a farm. It's Evan's home. His friend, a black and white dog, often stays there with him and they always help each other. They drive Evan's farm truck (卡车) and play games. They read books and have ice cream. But their favorite thing is working in Evan's yard. In the yard, plants are big and beautiful. The live happily there. But one day, the dog dies, so Evan loses his best friend. Without his best friend, the yard becomes a sad place. Evan feels so bad that he destroys (破坏) his yard.

But a good place will not stay empty (空着) for long. New plants quietly start to grow. One day, Evan finds a small pumpkin vine in his yard. He starts to look after it. Fall comes and there is a huge pumpkin in his yard. 

It is the fair (集市) week. Evan takes his big pumpkin to the fair. He meets his old friends there and he enjoys nice food. Best of all, his pumpkin wins him a prize: 10 dollars or a little dog. What does Evan want? You might know the answer. Yes. He drives home with the dog. 

This is the story of the book The Rough Patch. It is a 2018 picture book by US writer Brian Lies. The book won the 2019 Caldecott Medal (凯迪克大奖—绘本大奖) . 

Since 2010, many museums around the world have been holding Slow Art Day in order to make their visitors take their time and enjoy art more deeply.

In a world full of games, apps and videos, people spend less and less time on things. Several studies have shown that the most common amount of time for people to spend looking at a piece of art is ten seconds. Many visitors may spend 28 seconds. In that short time, they are also trying to take photos in the museum!

In recent years, museums have been working to change the situation. Over 170 museums around the world celebrate Slow Art Day. They ask their visitors to spend at least 5 to 10 minutes looking at just one work of art.

Many people believe that when visitors spend more time looking at a work of art, they enjoy it more. By spending time, they are able to notice more things about the work of art. Studying a work of art for more time can also help people get a better knowledge of the artist's ideas and what the artist went through to create the work. Most museums taking part in Slow Art Day choose just a few works for their visitors. In their opinion, when people visit a museum with lots of works of art, they feel like they must see everything in the museum. As an artist said, "You can't really see a painting as you're walking by it."
