Last Tuesday I took my two daughters, aged four and five, to town by1. It began to rain hard so I decided I would leave the children in the car before I went quickly into a shop. I2 the girls not to touch anything and told them I would be3 within a few minutes. Then I 4 all the doors and 5 them happily looking out of the window.

I returned to the car in less than five minutes but the girls had disappeared! I could hardly believe my eyes. The car doors were6 locked, the windows 7 shut and on the back seat were only two coats. I was8 and ran to the comer of the street where there was no9 of them. I rushed up to an10 lady nearby and asked 11 she had seen two small girls but she said" No". Feeling sick with fear, I sat on the driver's seat, and. 12to stop trembling (颤抖). Suddenly, I heard a merry laugh behind me. I got out of the car, ran round to open the boot (汽车后备箱) and there inside were two very red-faced and. 13 children. They had obviously pulled out the back seat, 14 behind it and then they were unable to push the seat forward again. With tears in my15, I leaned forward and pulled their ears.

Michelle is an old lady. Last year，she noticed a lot of rubbish at the park near her home. She wanted to do something 1 in her free time. So she picked up a bucket （桶） and got into 2 at once. 

Since then，almost every day，she walks to the park to pick up cups3 . She can fill up six buckets of rubbish a day. She often 4 with people while picking wastes. They usually have a great talk. Surely，people are very 5 for her work. Some of them even clean up a bit more themselves. 

In Michelle's words，working in the park help her stay active 6 . It also helps make her community a better place. "I always 7 people should be giving to their community. When I was a teacher，I felt that was my mission （使命） in life（退休），I start to think，what can I 8 doing？And I think this is something I can do. "

9 Michelle，she usually takes a day off when she goes on vacation. But she tries to visit the park each day. "If anyone wants to join me to 10 ，just look for the lady with the orange bucket，" she said.

It's 6:00 p. m. Kate's family are having dinner. There is rice, eggs, salads, strawberries and some vegetables like tomatoes, onions and carrots on the table. But Kate doesn't like vegetables. She doesn't want to eat them and puts her bo wl away.

" Kate," says her father.

" Where are my hamburgers?" asks Kate.

" Don't think about them. We need to eat healthily," says Mom.

" How about some ice- cream, then?" asks Kate.

" Kate," Dad calls her name again. He thinks the dinner is nice.

Kate takes a bite(咬一口) of the tomato and quickly spits(吐出) it back into the bowl.

" Kate! Room! Now!" says Dad. He doesn't like her bad eating habits.

Kate runs to her room and cries, but she soon stops. Usually, her parents will get her some other food she likes if she doesn't eat dinner. So she waits.

At about 7:00 p. m., Mom tries to get Kate to eat some vegetables, but she says no.

At 9:00 p. m., Kate wants to eat something, but her parents still don't give her anything to eat.

At 10:00 p. m., Kate goes to the kitchen and sees some vegetables on the table. They don't look so bad. And you know what? They don't taste so bad, either.

Kate learns that she should eat health y food and live a healthy life.

Do you know iced tea? Here is a story of it. In 1904, the World's Fair was held in St. Louis, USA, from April 30th to December 1st. Businessmen from around the world brought their 1 to the fair. 

Richard was a tea farm owner. He came to the fair to sell his tea. Unluckily, it was too hot that summer so nobody 2 his hot tea. Although Richard tried hard to tell people tea was 3 for the body, no one asked for even a cup. He 4 this problem so much that he was nearly crazy. 

One day an 5 came to his mind. Why not make the tea into an iced drink? Then he put lots of ice into the tea and mixed them with sugar. He was 6 to find that the tea had a special flavour. It 7 sweet and cool. Many people came and wanted to buy his drinks. Richard was so happy and 8 all his iced tea at a low price. How smart he was! From then on, Richard's business became better and better, and iced tea became more and more 9 in America. 

Richard's success shows us a great truth. Whenever you meet some difficulties, don't give up. Try to deal with it 10 . Maybe you will see a totally different result.

I am going to share with you my unforgettable experience of taking part in the Hangzhou Asian Games.

As a volunteer, I was lucky enough to see the passion and dedication(奉献) of the athletes, as well as the warmth and hospitality(好客) of the Hangzhou people. This event not only gave me a chance to learn a lot about the world, but also taught me valuable life lessons that I will remember forever.

The Hangzhou Asian Games, held from September 23rd to October 8th, was a wonderful sports event. Athletes and spectators (观众) were brought together from all over the world because of the games.

As a volunteer, I had the opportunity to do something in different aspects of the games, including event management, logistics, and customer service. My job was to help the athletes and officials with the daily activities, and to make sure that they had a smooth and enjoyable experience during their stay in Hangzhou. 

Because of the games, athletes from all around the world came to China and saw the rapid development of Hangzhou. They enjoyed the food here very much. I felt so happy and proud to be a Chinese when talking about our country with those foreign friends.
