The earth has warmed by about 1°F (华氏度) over the past 100 years, but why and how? Well, scientists are not quite sure. Maybe the earth gets warmer and warmer on its own. But many scientists say that people are doing many things which make the earth warmer. First, greenhouse effect (温室效应) is a very important reason for the change of the earth. People give out too much energy into the air every year. It makes the earth warmer. Climate (气候) change is another important reason. Sometimes it becomes too hot and sometimes too cold. Sometimes there is too much rain and sometimes too little. The change of the climate makes the earth warmer. In turn, the warmth of the earth changes the climate, too.

When the earth becomes warmer, there may be more rain and a rise in sea level. It will affect the growth of plants, animals and people. On a Pacific island, 100 people have to move to higher ground because the sea is rising. These people can no longer live on the coast. Before that, two islands without people went underwater in 1999. Scientists say that the seas can rise by nearly one meter by 2100.

People can affect the earth's air, land and water. As for us, we can do many things to protect the earth. For example, we can use fridges less. We can tell more people about protecting the earth.

    The world's population is larger and larger. There will 1 much more people next century. The earth will be more crowded and there must be a little room 2 each person. Perhaps there will be 3 room only on the earth a few centuries later. That will be serious to humans.

    So human are 4 of a good way to solve the problems.

    The moon is the 5 that is nearest to us. Maybe man will 6 on it some day. According to the scientists, studying, we know that there is no air, no plants, no water and no life there. So scientists are doing experiments 7 many ways. They 8 solve a lot of problems 9 humans can live on the moon. I'm sure the dream must 10 in the future. Maybe it is in the next century.

    Have you ever planted a few trees on Tree Planting Day? Each year, millions of people, both  1 , plant a lot of trees. But this may not be the best way to make your home a  2 place.

   Last week we visited a park in Hebei. We were  3  to find most of the trees had been burned. The workers told us that the trees 4 soon after they were planted because they weren't watered well enough. 5workers burned them and cleaned the place for 6 trees to be planted this year. 7 a card found in one of the dead trees, a student wrote, ＂I hope this tree will grow up with me to   8   the backbone(栋梁) of our country.＂The workers said that the survival(存活) of the trees was really more important than  9   trees were planted.
