Sometimes we meet people who change us. They bring magic(魔法) into our lives. Bridge to Terabithia (《通往特雷比西亚的桥》), the latest movie from Walt Disney, tells us such a story.

    Jess Aarons is a different kind of kid. He doesn't have too many friends in school. He is distant (疏远的) from his family as well. Jess wants to be the fastest runner in his school. He spends all of his time training for a race.

    But something strange happens. He's beaten, not by a boy but by a girl! As you might think, his pride is hurt.

    You wouldn't think Jess, and the girl, Leslie, would become friends. But the two kids open up to each other. Leslie shares her love of magic with Jess. Jess loves drawing. But before meeting Leslie he's never told anyone about it.

Fewer than 2,000 giant pandas are left in the wild. So the discovery of one of the animals is a(n)1 for celebration. Recently,a white panda was2 on a camera in a bamboo forest in Sichuan province. What3 news!

The white panda is the world's first known albino（患白化病的动物）panda. It is all white with reddish eyes. The animal, whose gender is hard to determine（确定） from the photo，is between one and two years old.

Albinism is caused by a lack of pigment（色素）in the skin，eyes and hair. It often makes it difficult for animals to4 from predators （掠食者）.

A 2017 study discovered that the giant panda's black and white coloring allowed it to blend in with the snow during winter or to hide in the shade during summer. The scientists also believe the dark circles around the eyes help the panda bears 5 each other. Fortunately, the lack of markings does not seem to have affected the albino panda thus far.

Li Sheng, a professor at Peking University,said,"The panda looked strong and his steps were steady（平稳的）,a6 that albinism may not have influenced its life."

Making new friends can be difficult, especially if you are a child in a new neighborhood. It may seem like everyone else has a friend to sit with or to talk to. Don't worry:if you're a nice person, you can make friends,too. 

Step 1. Decide what kind of people you want to play with. Choose (选择) wisely, because you'll probably become like them. Pick children that are nice to other people. 

Step 2. Smile and say something nice to the person you want to be your friend. If you like a person's shoes or think a girl is good at basketball, just say so. Everyone likes compliments. 

Step 3. Join clubs and teams. If you like sports, try out for some. Put yourself in situations where you are around many children that enjoy the same activities as you. It's easier to develop (发展) friendships when you have the same hobbies. 

Step 4. Ask questions whenever it's appropriate(适当的). People love to talk about themselves. Be careful not to ask too personal questions or ask someone too many questions. But asking one or two questions shows you're interested in him or her. 

How much do you know about terraces (梯田) in China? Imagine mountains are in silver (银色) water, shining in the spring sun.{#blank#}1{#/blank#} During autumn, these same mountains are gold, and in winter they are covered with white frost (霜冻 ). These are the amazing colours of the Longji Rice Terraces. 

It was hard to build these terraces for the local Zhuang and Yao people in Guangxi.{#blank#}2{#/blank#} Reaching as far as the eye can see, these terraces cover tall mountains, often from the bottom to the very top. 

{#blank#}3{#/blank#} First, building the terraces meant that they could have more fields to grow rice. Second, the flat (平坦的) terraces catch the rainwater and stop the soil from being washed away. 

People have worked in harmony (和谐) with nature to make these terraces. The terraces have hundreds of waterways (河渠). During the rainy season, rainwater along these waterways moves down the mountains and into the terraces.{#blank#}4{#/blank#} This forms clouds and then rain falls down onto the mountain terraces once again. 

Though modern technology could help produce more crops (庄稼), these terraces still mean a lot to the local people. For them, traditions have too much value (价值). 

"Start of Winter", also known as Lidong, arrives in November each year. Most parts of China take Lidong {#blank#}1{#/blank#}. On this day, after a year of hard work, people have nothing to do but stay at home {#blank#}2{#/blank#} . They can have a break and do something {#blank#}3{#/blank#} . For example, Chinese in the north like Lidong and they usually celebrate Lidong as the"Small Spring Festival". People have dumplings and mutton soup because they {#blank#}4{#/blank#} to keep their {#blank#}5{#/blank#}warm during winter.
