Dear Mariana,

In the center of the city, I met an Aztec boy named Carlos. He speaks a little Spanish. Carlos learns Spanish at his new school. He told me that the Spanish set up new schools for the Aztecs. There he got his new name, Carlos. He says he likes his new school but misses his old city. I wonder what this city used to be like before Cortes came.

I used to travel by air a great deal when I was a boy. My parents used to live in South America and I used to fly there from Europe in the holidays. An airhostess would take charge of me and I never had an unpleasant experience. I am used to traveling by air and only on one occasion have I ever felt frightened. After taking off, we were flying low over the city and slowly gaining height, when the plane suddenly turned round and flew back to the airport. While we were waiting to land, an airhostess told us to keep calm and to get off the plane quietly as soon as it had touched down. Everybody on board was worried and we were curious to find out what had happened. Later we learned that there was a very important person on board. The police had been told that a bomb had been planted on the plane. After we had landed, the plane was searched thoroughly(被彻底搜查). Fortunately, nothing was found and five hours later we were able to take off again.

As we talked, I knew that she began to understand. Although she couldn't understand clearly, she would know that renewal is part of progress; that we need to take a good look at ourselves, our rooms, schoolwork and spirit, and see what we need to keep and what we need to leave. I was careful to tell that this is a natural way, not one to be forced.
“Snakes don't peel off their skins when they like them. “I explained. “It happens as a natural thing of their growth. ”
“I see, Dad,” said Sarah as she held the snake skin, and then ran off.

Today my aunt and uncle took me to see Niagara Falls! We went to the top first to see the falls from TableRock. The water ran very fast. In the afternoon my aunt took me to the CN Tower. The view from the top was wonderful. It was very clear; I could see the whole city of Toronto and even into the US state of New York. Tonight we went ice-skating! I think everyone here in Toronto can ice-skate. At first I fell down a lot, but after a while, I was able to stay on my feet and move forward slowly. My aunt is really good at ice-skating; she took lessons as a girl. My uncle wasn't so graceful, but he could skate really fast. He used to play ice hockey(冰球) in high school. He skated around and around me. That made me laugh really hard, and then I fell down again!
