We lived not far from the sea, but I had never been allowed by my parents to play in the sea water. It was said that there was weed(水草) at the bottom of the water along the beach and of course it was dangerous to swim in the water. But I didn't believe it and that day, I agreed to play with my friends on the beach. I had to lie to my parents since I would never get a chance to go out if I told them I would go to play on the beach without them in sight.

After breakfast, I read a book in my room for some time to wait from my mum to leave the house. But she kept working in the kitchen. I couldn't waste time any more. Otherwise(否则,要不然), Bobby and Jimmy would be angry.

I went downstairs slowly and tried to walk casually(随意地) towards the back door. Mum asked me without looking up from her work of dishwashing, "Where are you going?' I answered without hesitation(毫不犹豫地), "I am going to the outside on the grass to play with Jack and Tim." After I got out of the room, I breathed a sigh of relief(松了一口气). My plan had worked out fine so far. I climbed the fence and jumped onto the muddy field a few feet away from my house and started running towards the bus stop at top speed. I was on the beach scanning the crowd for my friends Jimmy and Bobby about ten minutes later. After a while, I saw them near a coconut (椰子) tree. I ran towards them and got into my swimming trunks(游泳裤). For about an hour, we played volleyball happily. Suddenly, Bobby hit the ball too hard and the ball fell onto the sea. Just as Bobby was going to pick up the ball, the tide(潮水) came in and carried the ball further and further away from the shore. I wanted to show off my swimming skills, so I declared (宣布) to help get the ball for them.

概要写作,阅读下面短文,根据其内容写一篇60词左右的内容概要。

These days our society develops rapidly and forces people to rush. It appears that people have got used to being in a hurry. However, it's better for people to take their time and live their life at a slower pace than to hurry to get things done.

The main reason that convinces us to oppose doing work in a hurry is the possibility of doing wrongs in a rush. When people do their jobs or take action in a hurry, they can't make a sound decision and probably regret later. As the saying goes, 'Haste makes waste.' We should think carefully before making a decision and do our work less quickly. We should not make mistakes by doing work hurriedly.

Slowing down the pace of life helps people enjoy their life better. For example, taking a train to some place certainly will take more time than taking a plane. However, taking a train makes people have enough time to get to know a lot of new friends. Besides, it allows people to fully enjoy the beautiful scenery along the way. On the contrary, being in a hurry will make us lose chances of enjoying our lives.

Finally, slower life pace provides better health conditions for us. As is known to all, taking action in a hurry bothers people and raises their stress. People think if they are not in a hurry, they will become a loser and that annoys them. But being in a hurry can hurt people both physically and mentally. According to some studies, people who have a slower pace suffer fewer diseases, tend to be happier and live much longer than those whose life is tense, even if the former finish jobs more slowly than the latter.

In short, working quickly will bring about more material benefits to make our society more advanced. Yet, much stress can't bring enjoyment, friends and health, which are much more important than money and other material advantages. Therefore, take your time and live your life at a slower pace.

请认真阅读下面文字,并按照要求用英语写一篇150词左右的文章。

Henderson Island is a tiny, unpopulated(无人居住的)island in the middle of the Pacific Ocean,3,000 miles from major city centers. Though it is half the size of Manhattan, more than 19 tons of plastic waste litter its white, sandy beaches.

Researchers estimate(估计) that it has the highest concentration of waste of any place in the world with a total of over 37 million pieces of trash in all on the small island. For every square meter you walk, on average you'll find 672 pieces of trash.

Mismanaged waste from land goes into waterways, which feed into larger rivers, which in turn empty into ocean. In this way, plastic from far inland can travel many miles to the coastline, bringing an estimated 9 million tons of plastic every year.

Meanwhile, ocean plastic is estimated to kill millions of animals every year. Nearly 700 species have been reported to be affected by it. Species of all sizes, from zooplankton(浮游动物)to whales, now eat microplastics, the bits smaller than one-fifth of an inch across.

Small businesses hold the key to employed happiness. As the calendar flips to another year, many employees will consider starting the new year on the hunt for a new job.

In today's changing workforce, it is more important than ever for companies to realize that a salary alone is no longer enough to attract or retain strong employees.

According to a survey by Aflac, small business deserve a round of applause for their ability to keep employees happy. The report found that 85 percent of small-business employees are happy in their current job, and more than half(51 percent)agree that most of or all of their happiness in their current job is a result of working for a small business.

Nearly a quarter of participants(23 percent)stated that the feeling of importance was the best part of working for a small business. Small businesses have the unique ability to make employees feel appreciated, respected and valued on a personal and professional level.

In a small-business environment, there are typically fewer layers between newcomers and leadership. This tight-knit structure can create a family-like atmosphere that allows employees to feel that their opinions matter and that they play a significant role in the business's mission.

Flexibility is also vital in creating employee happiness. According to the report, 30 percent of respondents noted that flexible scheduling was the best part of working for a small business. A workplace that promotes healthy work-life balance can create happier, less stressed employees and can also increase productivity.

Although small business excel at keeping employees happy, there is always room for improvement. In a small-business community, money does not seem to be the only motivator. In fact, 65 percent of small-business employees indicate that an improvement in their benefits offerings would make them happier.

By offering a great benefits plan that includes voluntary benefits, small business can ensure that their employees are able to find the right benefits to meet their individual needs.

读后续写

It was Mother's Day and I was shopping at the local supermarket with my son who is five years old, Tenyson. As we were leaving after finishing our shopping, we realized that only minutes earlier an elderly woman had fallen over at the entrance and hit her head on the ground badly. Her husband was with her, but there was blood everywhere and the woman was embarrassed and clearly in shock. Fortunately, a lot of people stopped to help out.

While we were walking towards the scene, Tenyson became very worried about what had happened to the elderly couple. He said to me, "Mom, it's not much fun falling over in front of everyone," Seeing that there was a flower stall(摊位)at the front of the supermarket, he added, "Why shouldn't we buy the lady a flower? It will make her feel better." I was amazed that he'd come up with this sweet idea. So we went over and told the flower seller what we wanted. "Just take it," she replied. "I can't take your money for such a wonderful deed."

By now medical staff had arrived, and were looking after the injured woman. There we saw the old man was also in great horror, but he tried to comfort his wife and held her hands tightly to encourage her to be strong. We gave the flower to the woman's husband and I told him it was from my son. At that, the old man started crying and said, "Thank you very much."He then turned to me, "You have a wonderful son. Happy Mother's Day to you."

The man bent down and gave his wife the flower, telling her who it was from. Regardless of being badly hurt, the old lady looked up at Tenyson with love in her eyes and gave him a little smile. And my son bent down his body to the injured lady and tenderly said, "Happy Mother's Day to you, too."
