My pen pal John is a school boy. He is from the USA and he is 13 years old. This is his room. Let's have a look. His computer is on the desk. And a telephone is on it, too. His books are everywhere. By now, the supermarket runs very5 . People say they enjoy the feeling of being honest. I go to the supermarket to buy a notebook. When I am ready to pay, I find 1 have no money on me. I am just going to put the notebook. 6 when a neighbor* of mine 7 me. He knows what my 8 is. And he says he will be glad to 9 me five yuan and I can give the money back the next day. I thank him and pay for the notebook 10 the money.

When I was a high school student, I wanted to go on a school trip. My parents said it was too expensive for them to pay for, so I decided to make money {#blank#}1{#/blank#}(我自己). I got a part­time job in a bookstore. There were many people buying books there. I was {#blank#}2{#/blank#}(忙碌的) all the time, and I got very tired, but I didn't g{#blank#}3{#/blank#} up. I worked every F{#blank#}4{#/blank#} and Saturday night for a whole year. At the end of the year, I had enough money. I had a good t{#blank#}5{#/blank#} on the school trip, and my hard work at the bookstore made it possible. For me, it was a big achievement.

When I was a little girl, one of my favorite things was a shoebox. I filled it up with pieces of paper, envelopes and posters that I had collected. I called the box my "Post Office". 1 I was free, I would take it out and pour my "letters" on the floor. I grouped the "letters" and then put them back into the box. 

This led me to 2 a new hobby — writing letters to children I had never met. It was 3 to send my written pages to people far away. And I loved this feeling. My best penfriends were Svetlana in Belarus and Alastair in central England. 

I first 4 spoke out my dream of being a songwriter to Alastair. Actually, I had never written a single song and I had no idea how to do so. But I decided to realize this dream— well, I should never let my best friends 5 . I started to discover my favorite 6 and thought about how I should write a song. 

As I grew older, I had more people to write to, for example, kids I had met on school trips. The freedom I found to 7 myself in letters is one of my greatest memories of childhood. 

On my journey into adulthood, my love for writing letters never left me. As I now create music, I always remember my childhood 8 . Releasing（发行） new songs is similar to sending out handwritten letters. My "Post Office" is where I got started.

 Marty is five years old, and he is the baby of the family.

 His brother Ralph likes playing basketball. "Can I play, too?" asks Marty.

"No, Marty. The basket is too high for you, and the ball is too big for your baby hands," says Ralph.

"I'm not a baby," Marty says. "I'm 115 cm!"

Then Marty sees his sister Cindy tidying her bike. She will go to the bookstore.

"Can I ride to the store, too?" asks Marty.

"No, the store is too far. And your baby bike is too slow."

"I'm not a baby," Marty says. "I'm nearly(将近) six."

"Six?" says Cindy. "You just had your fifth birthday last Friday!"

 Marty starts to cry. "Why do you cry, dear?" asks Marty's mother.

"I'm too young to do anything. I don't want to be the last child."

 His mother pats(轻拍) her belly(肚子) and says. "Here is our last child. She is your sister. And that is to say, you' ll be a big brother."

"But,I'm too small to be a bigbrother,I'm just a baby!" Marty says.

One day, Mr Smith takes an apple to the class. He stands in the front of the 1 and says,"Please smell the smell (闻气味) in the air!"

One student puts up his hand and answers, "I can smell it. It is the smell of a(n) 2 ."

Mr Smith asks, "Are you 3 about it?"

"Yes, I am sure about it," the student says.

Mr Smith walks to the students, passes by each of 4 and says, "Please smell again to see if (是否) the smell of the apple is still (仍然) in the air."

Half of the students put up their hands to show that they can smell it. Mr Smith returns (返回) to the front of the classroom 5 asks again if the students can smell the apple. Everyone says 6 except one student called Henry. Mr Smith goes him, asking, "You really can't smell the apple?"

Henry answers, "No, I can't smell it. I don't think it is a real apple."

Mr Smith smiles and says to the class, "He is 7 ! This is not a real apple. 8 doesn't have any smell."

Some of the students may have thought that the apple is not real, but they don't 9 any confidence (自信) to speak up. They just follow (跟随) others and go along with the 10 student.
