This is a story of a man who works in my factory. I have seen him for years, but I didn't know him very well. He was a little bit weird (怪异的). He always wore an old red hat and carried a rubbish bag. He seemed to have no friend, and was always alone. He usually spent his break time and his lunchtime walking around in the factory and collecting used tins (金属罐). Maybe he was too poor, I guess. But I didn't care much about him.

One day, I was fixing one of the broken machines in the factory when this "tin man" came with his bag. As usual, he picked up the tins, which were all around the place. My manager was standing there, watching me.

When I finished my job, I heard my manager ask the "tin man" about what he was going to do with those tins he had collected. I never even thought about this kind of question, because I always assumed that "tin man" would take those tins to the recycling center.

Unexpectedly, the "tin man" answered, "I will give these tins to my neighbor. He has been ill for many years and cannot work. He is too poor to buy daily bread now."

I was so shocked to hear that, so I asked him, "You mean you collect all those tins just to help your neighbor?"

"I know this does not help much," he said. "But I give everything to him, because he cannot work. He needs help."

It was the most beautiful moment in my life. We are all able to help others no matter we are rich or poor. It has made me feel humble (谦卑的) every day since then.

Sometimes, a terrible tragedy (悲剧) can encourage us to do important things. Dashrath Manjhi was born into a poor family in Gehlaur village, India in 1934. He ran away from home when he was young and began working in the coal mines (煤矿) in Dhanbad. Later he returned to his home village and got married.

One terrible day in 1959, his wife, Falguni Devi, fell from the village mountain and was badly hurt. The nearest town with a doctor was close but a mountain stood in the way. The path (小路) around the mountain made the journey 90 kilometers. Falguni died before they could see the doctor.

Manjhi wanted to do something. He decided to cut a path through the mountain so that the village could reach medical care faster.

He took a hammer (锤子) and chisel (凿子) and began hammering through the mountain. People thought he was mad but he continued. He made a path 110 meters long, 7.7 meters deep and 9.1 meters wide. It took 22 years but Manjhi completed the road in 1982. It cut the distance between the village and the neighboring areas from 55 to 15 km. For his work, Manjhi became known as the Mountain Man.

After his death in 2007 at the age of 73, an official road was built through the mountain. Manjhi was given a state funeral (葬礼) and his face was put on a stamp in 2016. He has had films and documentaries made about him. He used his terrible personal tragedy to do something that would hopefully stop others from experiencing such tragedy in their own lives.

This winter holiday, I have a wonderful trip in Jilin. We even managed to make a micro film （微电影）there. The experience was so happy that I cannot wait to1 it with you. 

We arrived in Changchun （长春）in the evening. With snow and ice everywhere, we suddenly realized that we had come to a kingdom of snow! It made us all2 . 

However, we came to Jilin not only for sightseeing. We had an important mission—to take a short film! Every one of us needed to be the host or hostess of one part of the film. 

When we visited the Rime Island, It was my turn to be the hostess. At last, I was very nervous when facing the camera. I took a deep breath and looked around. The trees covered with magic rime, white snow and crystal ice, and the happy crowd immediately made me relax. I3 finish my hosting task. 

Have this picture in your mind: you lie down on the soft snow, with the white coated trees around you. Your4 is filled with snow. It is pure and quiet. All your worries and sorrows will be gone. 

Nowadays, the pace of life in modern cities is getting faster and faster. But why not5 down and enjoy the magic of nature?

This trip brought something new to me. I learned how a film is made; I learned how important teamwork is; I6 understood how to enjoy life. 

Travelling is a good thing that can broaden our horizons and improve our abilities. When enjoying the pleasure of travelling, you are also learning something beneficial for your future life. 

Life Is Not Always Fair

My father was short and disabled(残疾的). When we walked together, he would hold my arm for balance(平衡). People would stare. 

He liked his work and almost never missed a day, even if he was sick or the weather was bad. When there was snow or ice on the ground, it was impossible for him to walk, even with help. My sister or I would then pull him through the streets on a sleigh to the subway. 

He was a baseball fan and often cheered for our local team. He liked to go to dances and parties, where he could have a good time just sitting and watching. 

Although(虽然) he couldn't do many things that others could do, he never pitied himself. He has been dead for many years, but I think of him often when I envy(嫉妒) others, or when I complain(抱怨) about something that is unfair. 

 Yang Hongwei is a woman who lives in Weifang, a city famous for its long history of kite— making. She was born in a family known for its kite— making.{#blank#}1{#/blank#}  Each kite is a piece of art with its own story.

 As a child, Yang often spent her free time in her grandfather's workshop, watching him create magical kites." Every kite has a story to tell," her grandfather said, and these words left a lasting impression on her. And she practiced her skills with love for many years. {#blank#}2{#/blank#} 

 Later, with her grandfather's encouragement, Yang decided to open her own kite shop." Our kites are not just for fun," Yang explained." They carry the spirit and stories of our ancestors(祖先)." Her kites are very special. They have popular designs like butterflies and birds.{#blank#}3{#/blank#} .

 One of her most famous kites is a large phoenix with 50 small pictures of famous women from Chinese history on its wings.  {#blank#}4{#/blank#}This kite, which took her many months to create, is an excellent work. It shows her skill and love for traditional Chinese culture. {#blank#}5{#/blank#} For example, she goes to Germany and New Zealand. Travel takes her a lot of time, but she likes to share the stories behind her kites." It's important to share our culture with others,' Yang says.

Monday, July 1^st. 

I arrived in Penang in Malaysia this morning with my family. It was sunny and hot, so we decided {#blank#}1{#/blank#}（go）to the beach near our hotel. My sister and I tried paragliding. I felt like I was a bird. It was so {#blank#}2{#/blank#}（excite）! For lunch, we had something very special—Malaysian yellow noodles. They were delicious! In the afternoon, we {#blank#}3{#/blank#}（ride）bicycles to Georgetown. There are a lot of new {#blank#}4{#/blank#}（build）now, {#blank#}5{#/blank#} many of the old buildings are still there. In Weld Quay, a really old place in Georgetown, we saw the houses of the Chinese traders from 100 years ago. I wonder what life was tike here{#blank#}6{#/blank#} the past. I really enjoyed {#blank#}7{#/blank#}（walk）around the town.
