Lily comes from England. She is a nice girl. Her eyes are big and her mouth is small. She has a big family（家庭）. Her father is Jack Smith, and her mother's name is Kate Smith. They are very kind (和蔼的). Lily has a sister and a brother. Her sister is Helen, and her brother is Paul. Helen has long hair and a round face, but Paul has short curly（卷曲的）hair and a long face. They are in the same school. They like their teachers very much（非常）.

    One day a little boy dialed a telephone number and started to speak and he put part of his hand over the phone at the same time. He wanted to change the tone (音色，语调) of his voice. While all this was happening, a man who was working nearby, watched carefully and listened with great interest to the conversation that followed:

    “Lady, can you give me the job of cutting your lawn (草坪)?”

    “I already have someone to cut my lawn,” answered the woman at the other end of the phone.

    “Lady, I will cut your lawn for half the price of the person who cuts your lawn now.” “I'm very satisfied with the person who is cutting my lawn.”

    The boy said, “Lady, I'll even sweep the floor and the stairs of your house for free.”

    “No, thank you.”

    With a smile on his face, the young boy thanked the lady and hung up the phone. The man then walked over to the boy and said: “Son, I like your attitude（态度）. I'd like to offer you a job.”

    “No, thanks,” said the boy.

    “But you're looking for a job, aren't you?”

    “No, sir,” answered the boy. “I was just checking on my performance at the job I already have. I am the one who cuts that lady's lawn!”

    I had spent an hour in the bank with my dad to transfer some money (转账). I ask him, "Dad, why not use online banking?" "Why would I do that?" He replied.

    "Well, then you won't have to spend an hour here to transfer your money. You can also do your shopping online. Everything will be easier!" I said in excitement. He asked, "If I do that, I won't have to go out of the house?"

    "Yes!" I said. I told him how groceries (杂货) can be delivered to our doors now. And we can buy everything we need by just staying at home.

    However, he said, "Since I walked into this bank today, I have met four of my friends. I have much free time, so I like to come to the bank and meet different people. Two years ago, when I was in hospital, the store owner from whom I bought fruit came to see me. And when your mom fell down a few days ago, the bank manager saw her and helped her get to the hospital."

    He went on, "why would I want to look at my computer all the time? I like to know the person around me. Does Amazon send bonds (情感纽带) and relationships, too?"

    I didn't know what to say after hearing his words. My dad was right, of course. It's better for us to spend time with real people than computers.

There was a peacock (孔雀) in an animal city. He was very arrogant (傲慢的). Other animals didn't like him.

One morning the peacock wanted to go to a park but he got lost. He was worried. Then he saw a sheep. He walked to him and asked, "Hey! How can I get to the nearby park?" {#blank#}1{#/blank#}

Then the peacock shouted, "Didn't you hear me? I'm asking you!" The sheep looked at him, but he didn't say anything.

The peacock had to leave. {#blank#}2{#/blank#} The cat asked, "Excuse me, Uncle Elephant. How can I get to the supermarket?" The elephant said with a smile, "Go this way to the end and turn left." {#blank#}3{#/blank#}

The peacock walked to the elephant and asked, "Hey! How can I get to the nearby park?" {#blank#}4{#/blank#} The peacock was angry and shouted, "Why would you tell the cat, but you wouldn't tell me?" The elephant turned around and said, "The cat is so polite. What about you?"

From then on, the peacock began to be polite to others and slowly became popular.

There was some food from six different countries on the menu, such as dumplings and {#blank#}8{#/blank#}(薄烤饼). And the menu was made in English. We all raised our glasses and said, "Cheers, everyone! Let's w{#blank#}9{#/blank#} each of us success for the future. " We enjoyed o{#blank#}10{#/blank#} at the party. What an unforgettable memory!

Alena is from Texas. She dreamed of becoming an engineer at the age of 16 when she was 12 years old. It may sound impossible, but Alena is not a common girl. She's both clever and hard-working. She is now studying engineering at her dream university. She would love to build a rover (探测器) to go to space. 

Believe it or not, the story started with Lego (乐高) . At the age of4, Alena loved playing around with different kinds of Lego and showed great love for building things. Little Alena loved to look at the stars at night. Once, she said seriously, "Mom, I'm going to work for NASA. I'm going to travel to space in a rocket. " Her mom was surprised at the little girl's dream. She couldn't believe what she heard.
