What is the hottest English word these years? “Selfie" may be one of them. It was even named Word of the Year by Oxford Dictionaries in 2013. The word was first used in an Australian online forum in 2002. Now, almost everybody knows it.

 Selfie is a photo that one takes of oneself. People usually take selfies with a smart phone and send them to a social media website. Nowadays, more and more people are taking selfies. From your best friend to your favorite pop star, selfies are taking over Renren and Sina Weibo.

 What makes people love selfies? Selfies can help to remember what's going on in their personal life. "Almost every day, I take a photo of myself at school, and save it in my Qzone. These photos record my happy and sad moments." said Huang Xu, 16, from Hunan. Another usual reason for taking a selfie is to share online. They hope to make friends and share their feelings with others. "During summer vacation, my classmates and I shared many selfies online. Through these photos, we got to know each other's holidays and feelings," said Wang Lin, 15, from Henan. "I'm too shy to ask someone to take pictures of me, but it's easier to do it by myself."

 Although taking selfies is popular among young people around the world, they should be careful at the places where they take selfies. People are warned（警告）not to take light-hearted selfies in serious places, such as in some traffic accidents. In order to protect art works, selfie is banned in some museums and galleries, too.

   In many high schools，there are strict rules about using mobile phones. If your phone rings in class，for example，the teacher will be very angry.
   Every mobile phone has a ringtone (铃声). It tells you that someone is calling you. Now，there is a ringtone called “mosquitotone (蚊子铃声)”. Using it，students can receive calls and text messages (短信) in class but the teacher will not realize what is happening. How?
   Mosquitotone has a special sound. Only children and teenagers can hear it. As we get older，we are unable to hear some sounds with high frequencies (频率). As a result，a child or teenager can hear the mosquitotone ringtone, but it's_inaudible_to someone 20 or older.
   But sometimes，people over 20 can hear the ringtone. One British student's phone uses mosquitotone. In class，the student's phone rang. The 32­year­old teacher looked at the student and became unhappy. “I heard that. You know the rule：no mobile phone in class.”
   Not all the students are interested in mosquitotone. Jerry Jones，a high school student of 17，says，“Using mosquitotone too often is bad for our hearing. I may use it for pleasure，but not in class. It's unfair to the teachers！”
   What do parents think of mosquitotone？“I think it is perfect for places like movie theaters，” says Connie Neeson,44.“Think about it. Yon're watching a film and someone's mobile phone rings. Mosquitotone is good because many people don't hear it. However，it also has a bad influence on their study if students use it in class.”

    On December 3rd, 2017 a program by CCTV called National Treasure(国家宝藏)was shown to people all over the country. It became popular with both the old and the young as soon as it came out.

    The show took 27 pieces of cultural relics(文物)from nine museums across the country, such as the Palace Museum, Shanghai Museum, Shanxi History Museum and so on. The show expected to bring life to the national treasure. They invited 27 actors and another 27 common people to tell the" old and new life stories" of the relics. The actor acted in a short play about the history of each relic. The other person told his or her own story in relation to the relic.

    More and more people are interested not only in the relics themselves, but also in enjoying the stories behind those relics. There are a lot of jokes online about the show. They also help the show by bringing the museums and relics closer to the people.

    Why did the show become so successful? "By telling stories and inviting famous stars, it has turned the old culture into interesting stories. It's a really creative program, "said Yin Hongru, a teacher from Tsinghua University.

    "The social value(社会价值)of the show is more important than anything else, "said Yu Lei from the program. "We just want more people to go to the museums and take a look at the country's most fantastic treasures."
