In the morning Sean checked the e-mail as usual. Then he found a surprising e-mail. Could his dream1 now? Sean was not sure. He was now nearly 40, 2 and lonely. He had dreamed of being a police officer for a long time but3 made it. Was it possibly different this time?

His father's friend Paul once4 the little boy home in his police car when Sean was only a 5-year-old boy. Sean was interested in the car, the lights and the uniform, He5 to be a policeman like Paul.

However, a high school English teacher6 his dream. She said that he was talented7 writing and should not waste it being a police officer. Sean followed his English teacher's advice and8

he became a writer for a newspaper and married. During the years, he changed. several jobs. However, 9 made him really happy. His heart really wasn't in the job. In fact, he had never really10 his childhood dream to become a policeman.

 His wife could not stand this and left him 11 Sean was 39 years old. When his father helped him to look for a new job, the chance(机会)came. Phoenix was in great need of police officers.

In order to pass the 12 to enter the police school, Sean began planning at once, setting a daily. running rule of a mile and a half. He did great in all the tests and finished his education13 in the police school.

②Daddy had long smart fingers that could make lots of paper toys for me to play with. His hands could tie my hair beautifully. That's why I was proud when the other students talked about my hairstyle. I kept this a secret for years. His hands could paint a second- hand bike to look new . I got one on my tenth birthday. His hands could cook a delicious and colorful meal in minutes. I was always interested in watching his hands work. Even as I grew hungrier, I felt happy watching his hands. 

③Daddy's creative hands were also useful and hardworking. They could fly a kite high in the sky as well as to get it down from the top of a tree. They could wash my white dress clean, which became my favorite one. To my surprise, those hands raised(抚养) seven children after mom's death. It was his attitude that showed what he really was, far more than his abilities. 

④Not only were Daddy's hands capable(能干的), they could also send a message full of love. When I was sick, he made me feel better. He would take a small blanket(毯子), warm it up and cover it around my small cold feet with his loving hands. They seemed to understand my pain before I could cry. When I was stressed out, Daddy would often hand me a cup of hot milk and sat next to me. He would say, " The best is always to come, my dear. "

⑤The more I read Daddy's hands, the more stories I sense(感知) from them. Daddy's hands were perfect. They had the knowledge and power to move mountains. They made the impossible possible. 

The girls spent the rest of the day preparing a play. The sisters often performed plays for their friends. A lot of girls arrived about six o' clock and took their places in the big bedroom. The play was a great success. Everybody enjoyed it very much. The girls were still laughing and clapping when Hannah came in and said," Supper is ready."

A surprise was waiting for them on the dining room table- dishes of ice cream, pink and white, fresh fruit, cakes and real French chocolates. And in the middle of all this delicious food there were four vases of beautiful flowers. The girls couldn't believe their eyes.

" Did the fairies bring the supper?" asked Amy.

" No, Santa Claus brought it," said Beth.

" Mother did it," Meg said.

" No! Aun t March sent it!" cried Jo.

" You are all wrong," said Mrs. March." Old Mr. Laurence sent it."

" The Laurence boy's grandfather!" Said Meg." Why did he do that? We don't know him!"

" Hannah told one of his servants(仆人) the story of the Hummels. Mr. Laurence was sorry to hear about your poor Christmas breakfast, so he decided to give you a surprise."

" My mother says he's very proud," said one of the girls at the table." She says that he doesn't like mixing with his neighbors. His grandson has to stay in the house and study all day. We invited him to a party once, but he didn't come. He's very shy."

"I am going to talk to him one day," said Jo." He needs to have some fun. I am going to invite him to our next play!"

 From Little Women

Rick, a school boy, had a love for playing video games. Every day, his1 reminded him to take some exercise instead of playing video games. However, he didn't always 2 .

The boat ride to Lucky Island was really exciting! We saw a lot of fish and colourful{#blank#}4{#/blank#}(bird). When we got to Lucky Island, we went on a long walk and saw some pretty flowers.{#blank#}5{#/blank#} we walked for a while, we were very hungry! We sat on the beach and ate our lunch. After that, we played games and{#blank#}6{#/blank#}(take) photos. I really enjoyed{#blank#}7{#/blank#}(me). Finally, it was time {#blank#}8{#/blank#}(go) home. What {#blank#}9{#/blank#} wonderful experience! Next Sunday, we will climb (爬) Stone Mountain with the Hiking Club. I can't wait {#blank#}10{#/blank#} my next adventure!

After a week, the notebook was still there. Emma opened it {#blank#}9{#/blank#}(神经紧张地) and saw {#blank#}10{#/blank#}(页) of new writing by different people! Her story finally had a good ending.
