Nick and his friends were talking about things that can bring them luck. “I have a lucky red pen,” said Andy. “I have a lucky coin,” said Peter. “Every time I take a test, I carry my lucky coin.” Nick thought for a moment, and said, “My blue socks.” “Blue socks?” the boys were surprised and asked together. Nick said that every time he wore his blue socks to school before a test, he got a good mark.

    The next day Nick had a Chinese test. He was sad because he couldn't find his blue socks. “Mom!” shouted Nick. “Where are my blue socks? I have a Chinese test today, and I need to wear them.”

  “Don't be silly,” Nick's mom said.“They need to be washed.” “When I wear them, I get a good grade.” Nick said.

  “Did you prepare for your test?” asked Mom.

  “Yes.”

  “Then don't worry about it. Just do your best.” Mom encouraged.

    A few days later, Nick's teacher told him that he got 95 in his test. Nick was so excited that he couldn't wait to tell Mom he did well in his test. Mom said, “It wasn't the blue sock s that made you success. In fact, it was made by yourself.”

        A week in the sun relaxing in the beautiful March weather of Varadero, Cuba is a fantastic vacation for anyone. Luckily, my wife, two friends and I had the chance last year.

      To see Cuba, you have to talk to the Cubans. Our friends met us at the airport even at 1:00 a.m. which started our trip on a positive note. After a few days at the hotels, we got to know a local tour guide, Victor.

      The trip started off on a sunny morning. Our return trip would be along the coastline from Havana, but out trip to Havana would be through the countryside and the small towns. This trip was designed for us to visit the Cuban countryside.

      At first Victor brought us to Revolutionary Square, where Fidel Castro made his yearly speech praising the ideas of the revolution.

      Our second stop was the Bocoy Rum Factory. We walked through and learned how 5000 bottles of rum(朗姆酒) are produced every day. The smell of rum, and the huge barrels were interesting.

      The final stop was the market in Old Havana. Here my wife and I went away from our friends and we toured through this large shopping center. From store to store we saw so many items that all had a clear Cuban feel to them. We bought a picture and some special local things, and then we took off to meet up with Victor.

      As a tourist I was able to have a quick look at Cuban life with the help of Cubans. I felt lucky to have the chance. It was an interesting experience in my life.

     A young man graduated(毕业) from college. He wanted to own a sports car, so he told his father his dream. Several days later, his father called him into his room and gave him a beautiful gift box. The young man opened it and found a Bible(圣经). He was very angry. "You give me a Bible?" Then he ran out of his home, leaving the Bible.

     Since then, he lived alone. Many years passed, one day, he got a letter telling him his father had passed away. When he arrived at his father's house, he began to look for his father's important papers and saw the still new Bible. He opened the Bible, suddenly, a car key dropped from the back of the Bible. The key to the sports car is just he wanted. At that moment, he knew how much his father loved him.

Rick, a school boy, had a love for playing video games. Every day, his1 reminded him to take some exercise instead of playing video games. However, he didn't always 2 . 

Once again, Rick's mom told him seriously that his eyesight (视力) might get poor if he spent too much time on video games. It was a pity that he still didn't listen 3 . He kept playing. One day, during a math class, Rick's teacher got upset when he couldn't give an answer to a question like "2+2=?". After class, the teacher asked him why he couldn't solve such a 4 problem. Rick said that he knew the answer 5 couldn't see the board clearly. His teacher was worried and 6 his parents. 

Realizing what had happened, Rick's mom warned him again that it was harmful to his 7 to play video games too much. And Rick's dad took him to an eye doctor for a check-up. The 8 showed that his eyesight had weakened. After asking about his habit of using eyes, the doctor advised Rick to take action to protect his eyes. 

From that day on, Rick decided to 9 playing video games and take some exercise every day. Later Rick fell in love with sports and 10 his school soccer team. Now he has become stronger and healthier. His eyesight has also got better.
