Last year, my brother and I went to Miami for a vacation. Some of my friends who had been there before said {#blank#}1{#/blank#} was a wonderful holiday destination. Before we went, we had planned for months. When the day came, we were ready.

    After our plane landed, we went to the hotel. We had made our {#blank#}2{#/blank#} (reserve) six months earlier, but the man at the front desk said there had been a mistake. We {#blank#}3{#/blank#} (tell) that our rooms hadn't been reserved for that week, {#blank#}4{#/blank#} for the week after. She {#blank#}8{#/blank#} (apology) for the mistake and gave us a spare VIP room on the top floor. We had never stayed in such an amazing room, and we weren't charged extra.

    The next day, my brother and I went to the beach {#blank#}9{#/blank#} we watched some people play volleyball. We got a little {#blank#}10{#/blank#} (sunburn)，but the day had been so relaxing that we didn't mind.

    Everyone needs to know how to prevent a fire. It is also important to know what to do when it {#blank#}1{#/blank#} (break)out.

    Every year, over 11，000 people {#blank#}2{#/blank#} (kill)or injured in house fires. These fires could have been avoided. Smokers who are {#blank#}3{#/blank#} (care)cause about 200 deaths and over 6,000 fires. More than of those {#blank#}4{#/blank#}  die in fires are poisoned or harmed by smoke.

    If fire happens, do not attempt to fight the fire unless it is small. Try putting out a small fire with water. If {#blank#}5{#/blank#} fire has spread or if the flames are more than 20 inches high, shut the door on it. Warn everyone else in the building and tell them to get out. You should leave and dial 911 for the fire department.

    Before {#blank#}6{#/blank#} (go)into a room，check the door. If the handle or the door is hot, do not open it! Instead, put clothing or a wet towel at the bottom of it to keep smoke out. If the door is not hot, open it  {#blank#}7{#/blank#} (slow)．If there is a rush of smoke heat, close it again and shout to warn {#blank#}8{#/blank#} (other)inside.

    Now open the window and shout “Fire!”. See whether you can drop safely to the ground. Use this {#blank#}9{#/blank#} your escape course if you can. If you are not on ground level, break your fall by pushing a mat out first. Lower yourself at arm's {#blank#}10{#/blank#} (long) before dropping. Once outside, stay out outside and make sure the fire department is called.

    In China, the history of people planting and using bamboo can date back to as far as 7,000 years. As early as the Shang Dynasty, bamboo was being used in ancient people's daily lives. This technology did not spread to Europe {#blank#}7{#/blank#} the 19^th century, and it was by using the technology {#blank#}8{#/blank#} the Americans drilled the first oil well in Pennsylvania in 1859.

    In Chinese culture, bamboo is well-known as {#blank#}9{#/blank#} of the “four gentlemen” in plants. To many famous men, bamboo is a symbol of goodness and honesty. It is always closely related to people of positive spirits. Bamboo culture contributes to encouraging people to hold on when {#blank#}10{#/blank#}(face) tough situations.
