    Parent and Child Will Be Joining…

    The nationwide affiliated(隶属的) program sponsored by local YMCA's and part of the National Council of YMCA's

    A smaller group of families called a "circle"

    What Is the Time Commitment?

    Program runs from October to May (ending with the Memorial Day Parade)

    One "circle" activity per month (one circle decides on fees and dates)

    Additional all participant activities (scheduled by Wilton Family Y) —additional fees and registration required.

    You will be notified by the Wilton Family Y of which "circle" you and your child are in and who your "circle" leader is.

    You will be notified by your "circle" leader as to when your first parent/child "circle" meeting will take place.

When we have high expectations of everything in life we will run into disappointment. Only when we are aware that needs are different from desires can we live with satisfaction.     Focus on what you are thankful for. Most people want things to be better than they are, or when things are going well, we forget to appreciate what we have. Learn to reflect（反映）on how much better things are than they could be. Focus on what you are thankful for. Write down 5 things you are grateful for right now.

    When we hold onto regrets from decisions we have made, it can realty poison our well-being. Many people regret something they can no longer change, which ends up holding them back from moving forward in a more positive manner. What happened in the past is done and gone, so work to stay present and be mindful of the current （目前的）moment to find more joy and fulfillment（满足）.

    When we use other people as the measuring stick for our personal success and quality of life we are likely to be less satisfied. Social comparisons can provide useful information when we try to learn from others, but they also hold our perspective（观点）in a discontented position. Compare yourself less with others so you can be satisfied more.

    When you are focused on your big ambitions（抱负）and future goals you might elide the daily pleasures that surround you. Learn to slow down and absorb the wonder and beauty around you. Stay present and focus on the task you're doing at the moment. Don't let the life pass you by because you're always on the go and distracted（分心）by ambition.

    Practice looking at life through the lens of contentment（满意）and it will become more natural.

    A new study by the British government has discovered the mental well-being of the country's teenage girls has worsened.

    The survey, which included 30,000 14-year-old students, showed 37 percent of the girls with psychological stress, rising from 34 percent in 2010. British boys' stress level was actually seen to fall over the same period, from 17 percent to 15 percent. The report's authors pointed out the "arrival of the social media age" could be a major contributing factor for increasing stress among teenage British girls.

    "The adolescent years are a time of rapid physical, cognitive and emotional development," Pam Ramsden, a lecturer in psychology at the University of Bradford in the United Kingdom, wrote in a recent blog post. "Teenagers interact with people in order to learn how to become competent adults. In the past, they would engage with parents, teachers and other adults in their community as well as extended family members and friends. Now we can also add social media to that list of social and emotional development." Throughout adolescence, girls and boys develop characteristics like confidence and self-control. Since teenage brains have not completely developed, teens don't have the cognitive awareness to keep from posting inappropriate content. Furthermore, this content can easily be circulated far and wide with disastrous implications.

    "Social media can also feed into girls' insecurities about their appearance," Ramsden said. These sites are often filled with images of people with body type unattainable to the normal person. However, these images and the messages tied to them creep into social standards.

    "Social media allows girls to make comparisons among friends as well as celebrities and then provides them with 'solutions' such as extreme dieting tips and workouts to reach their goals," Ramsden said. "Concerns about body image can negatively impact their quality of life preventing them from having healthy relationships and taking up time that could be better spent developing other aspects of their personalities."

    Alabama: Priester's Pecans
