Here at Nature Loving Kids, we know how much you want to make a positive(积极的) difference to our world! So, read on to find out how to protect our earth…

Save energy and water!

– On a fine and clear day, hang things outside to dry! This saves energy that would have been used on the dryer(烘干机).

– If you can, try cycling, walking, or using public transport to get out and about, instead of using the car.

– Turn the taps(水龙头)off while brushing your teeth, and take short showers of four minutes or less!

Be an advocate(倡导者)!

– Share your knowledge with others, and help them become eco-heroes too! It takes lots of people working together to make changes happen – so share, share, share!

Reduce, reuse, recycle!

– Before you throw something away, stop and think about what else it could be used for!

Be friendly to wildlife!

– Make your garden wildlife-friendly! You could build a bee hotel, or even create a pool.

– If you own a cat that goes outdoors, put a bell around its neck so that vulnerable wildlife can hear it coming and make their escape!

What else can you do to make the world better?

第二篇

Some people ski(滑雪) down mountains. Others climb huge rocks. Why do people enjoy risky(有危险的) activities like these?

Some people take risks simply because it makes them feel good. Psychologists(心理学家) say that this kind of explorers(探险者) are always looking for change and excitement. When people do something risky, a chemical(化学物质) in the brain creates a pleasant feeling. They love this feeling and want to experience it more.

Other people don't take risks for the feeling of excitement but to achieve a goal. Mike Fay went on a dangerous 2,000-mile special journey in central Africa. He worked to help save the wildlife there. Fay's journey helped create 13national parks.

For other people, such as extreme athletes (极限运动员), taking risks is part of their job. Psychologists say extreme athletes see the world differently. Not like most people, extreme athletes feel in control in dangerous situations. The danger can even help them. For example, skier Daron Rahlves says that being afraid makes him try harder to succeed.

Most of us are not extreme athletes or explorers. However, we still take risks in our lives. Some of us take social risks, such as speaking in front of a large group of people. Sometimes, we take financial risks, such as buying a house. And sometimes we take career risks, such as leaving a job or starting a business. Most people take risks in some areas of life, but not in others. What kind of risk-taker are you?

完形填空

About 1.2 billion people around the world are learning a foreign language. However, not all of them enjoy 1 . We talked to hundreds of successful language learners. They shared some of their habits with us.

One key 2 long-term success is working towards the goal(目标)all the time. Most successful language learners make sure they 3 a few minutes practicing every day. Some language learners practice their language only in class. In the long run, they show much slower progress than those who practice 4 .

The second habit of successful language learners is that they don't study too much or too long at a time. 5 , they study for a short period of time each time. And then after a break, they continue. Over a longer time, they make 6 .Some language learners always want to learn as much new material as 7 . But it has been proved that one slowly forgets 8 he or she has learned over time.

Let's be honest: Do you still remember all the English words and expressions you learned last year? Successful language learners 9 the old material regularly (规律地). Regular review turns your short-term memory into a long-term memory.

Are you having a hard time improving your English? Then you may try to 10 these three habits. Don't worry if it takes time. Learning a second language well is a long-term process—it should take time!
