阅读下面短文,根据所给情节进行续写,使之构成一个完整的故事。

In our kitchen, there was a wooden table and three chairs - one for Pa, one for Ma, and one for me. I tried not to look at Pa's empty place. Pa had gone to the city to look for work. He had been gone for a long time.

Every night, lying awake in bed, I waited for the train to stop, waited for the sound of his work boots dropping on the step, and waited for his voice calling, "I'm home!"

Every night, as I lay there, I stared at the window and the curtains Ma made from empty flour sacks (面粉袋). Sometimes the train stopped - for someone else's Pa coming home. Not mine, not yet.

Every night, Ma came to kiss me good-night - after the train had gone by. She had been listening, too. "Go to sleep. Your Pa'll be home soon. Maybe for Thanksgiving."

How could I be thankful without my Pa?

I went to sleep with the sound of train wheels in my head, whispering, "Maybe tomorrow, maybe tomorrow."

One morning, the smell of coffee woke me. I ran into the kitchen. There he was! Pa lifted me onto his shoulders. "How's my boy? You've gotten so big that I can barely lift you up anymore."

He put me down, and I stared at the two sacks on the table. One said FLOUR. I tried reading the other: S-U-G-A-R. Pa whistled admiringly and winked (眨眼) at me. Ma didn't say no when Pa sprinkled (撒) a bit of that precious white sugar on my bread.

Ma said, "I'm going to bake a pie for your Pa's homecoming dinner. Go downstairs, Jimmy, and bring me that jar of apples." She smiled at me with a "mind now" look.

There was no need. I knew how to be careful. It was the last jar - the one we had been saving and saving to welcome Pa home. "When Pa comes home, there'll be apple pie." I could hardly remember what pies tasted like.

举一反三
请阅读下面短文,并按照要求用英语写一篇150词左右的文章。

It's a question every socialmedia user faces after taking a great photo: Should I post this? Or is it going to come back to worry me? The questions get doubly complex when they involve children. A parent on average will post almost 1, 000 photos of a child online before the child turns five, according to a recent survey. Are parents putting kids at risk by oversharing on social media?

Here are the selections of the views.

    Lauren Apfel(US)

The big reason to share is to build a community. I live, for example, thousands of miles from my family. In this atmosphere of modern parenthood, we all struggle to make it through the day, and the Internet has become a source of support. In the early years of mothering twins, one of the things that brought me the most happiness was posting pictures of them on Facebook. Sharing those photos and engaging with an online community was a lifeline.

    Dracarys(China)

I don't post pictures of my kids online because I don't like when friends of mine post photos of me online. It feels way too public and exhibitionist to me. So I treat my kids the way I want to be treated. That is probably what the parents who are comfortable with online photos think, too, when they decide to put the photos out there.

It was raining pretty hard on Halloween, but that wasn't going to stop my little sister Kate and me from trick-or-treating. We decided to start at Miss Parson's house. Miss Parson was loved by us kids who lived nearby because she often shared her self-made cookies with us. We usually finished them in a second, especially when we were hungry after class. Sometimes, when we visited her or did something for her, she always gave us surprise.

Kate and I wondered what kinds of treats she'd offer. As we walked down the street, I held an umbrella, a bag for candy, and my sister's hand. Jack-o-Lanterns gave soft light along the street. Spider webs hung in all the windows. Parents who were dressed up like monsters(怪物) stood in doorways. After we had walked a few blocks, we were wet from head to toes, and I felt Kate was trembling with cold.

There was a light on at Miss Parson's house, but there were no ghosts, goblins(小妖精), or Jack-o-Lanterns. We climbed up the steps and saw Miss Parson through a window. She was drinking a cup of hot tea.

"Maybe she doesn't celebrate Halloween," Kate said with a sigh, disappointedly.

"Well, even if she doesn't, she usually likes it when we visit her, "I said and knocked on the door.

Miss Parson seemed surprised when she opened it and saw our dressing. "Is today Halloween?" she asked. "I completely forgot. I am so sorry!"
