"What did you have for lunch at school?" I asked my son at dinner. This was a question my kid expected (ask) each evening at suppertime. Usually, he would share the (detail) information about what he ate and what happened in school with me.

One day, my son (sad) told me that some of his classmates had laughed at him. Actually, I (inform) this incident (事件) by his teacher before picking him up to return home. Although his teacher told me the reason why it had happened and (promise) to deal with it as soon as possible, I still couldn't help (wonder) how I could comfort my son.

The next day school, I talked about this-incident again on the car ride home. My son replied, "It was embarrassing thing for me to be laughed at in front of the class. But my classmates had apologized to me, made me choose to forgive them this time." I was glad and amazed at his (able) to forgive others and move on.

Creating good habits can be as tough as breaking bad habits. From my experience, one of the most important factors {#blank#}1{#/blank#} make forming a new habit hard is that a lot of willpower {#blank#}2{#/blank#} (require), at least in the beginning, and that alone can prevent many people correctly developing their desired habits.

Now instead of just using willpower and reminding {#blank#}3{#/blank#} (you) to start the new habit each day, why don't you just link it to an existing one? I have done {#blank#}4{#/blank#} experience. It started with just 20 pushups (俯卧撑), something easy. So before I showered each day, I would do the pushups. {#blank#}5{#/blank#} a couple of days, I increased the amount just to make it a bit more challenging.

Gradually, over the course of about 3 months, I'm now doing 100 pushups. And as the habit grew stronger, it got easier to do so {#blank#}6{#/blank#} (natural). Now I know the habit is pretty much ingrained (根深蒂固), for I feel like something is missing {#blank#}7{#/blank#} I don't do this before showering. I found it pretty easy {#blank#}8{#/blank#} (create) this habit and not much willpower was involved.

I think the key, apart from using an {#blank#}9{#/blank#} (exist) habit, is to start out with something really easy. Once that starts becoming part of your {#blank#}10{#/blank#} (day) routine, add on to it.

阅读下面短文,在空白处填入1个适当的单词或括号内单词的正确形式。

Xuan paper, known as one of the Four Treasures of Study, first came into {#blank#}1{#/blank#} (exist) in Xuan Prefecture in the Tang dynasty. The traditional skill of making the paper {#blank#}2{#/blank#} hand has been passed down through generations. The process takes as many as 100 steps, all of {#blank#}3{#/blank#} require a level of delicacy.

Take papermaking master Zhou Donghong for example. He uses a fine screen to filter(过滤) a mixture of water and fibers. He lifts it up, and it's a sheet of paper. It takes him and his partner only 15 seconds {#blank#}4{#/blank#} (form) and shape it, but they've devoted {#blank#}5{#/blank#} (them) to perfecting the skills for decades.

“There are a lot of tricks of filtering the fibers, and timing is the {#blank#}6{#/blank#} (difficult) part of all. We have only one chance to filter the right amount of fibers, and only the proper weight guarantees the paper is neither too thin nor too thick, and the margin for error is {#blank#}7{#/blank#} (extreme) small,” said Zhou. With just the right degree of thickness, top quality Xuan paper holds ink and water tightly.

The skill of papermaking, {#blank#}8{#/blank#} (recognize) as a national treasure, has also proven to be an international one. We felt {#blank#}9{#/blank#} great sense of pride as it was listed as a world intangible culture heritage(非物质文化遗产) by UNESCO in 2009. Since then, in Jingxian County, Xuan papermaking {#blank#}10{#/blank#} (teach) in schools.

阅读下面材料,在空白处填入适当的内容(1个单词)或括号内单词的正确形式。

There are several reasons why school uniforms are good idea. First of all, uniforms help the school look smart. The students feel that they belong to a particular group. When every pupil in the school wears the uniform, nobody {#blank#}1{#/blank#} (have) to worry about fashion(时尚). Everybody wears{#blank#}2{#/blank#} same style of clothes. Uniforms can be useful in unexpected ways, A school in Ireland has introduced an interesting new uniform. On the edge of the jacket, there is a piece of cloth {#blank#}3{#/blank#}gives off light in the dark. When the children are walking or {#blank#}4{#/blank#} (cycle) to school on dark mornings, car drivers can {#blank#}5{#/blank#} (easy) see them.

But can uniforms help improve school standards? The answer {#blank#}6{#/blank#} this question is not clear. One study in America found that students' grades {#blank#}7{#/blank#} (improve) a little after the school introduced uniforms. But some students didn't want {#blank#}8{#/blank#} (wear) the uniform. Other American studies showed no {#blank#}9{#/blank#}(connect) between uniforms and school performance.

School uniforms are {#blank#}10{#/blank#} (tradition) in Britain, but some schools are starting to get rid of them. Some very good schools don't have a uniform policy. However, uniforms are still popular. Pupils at about 90 percent of British secondary schools wear uniforms.
