How to pass an important test

Whether it's a first grade science test or College Entrance Exam, all tests have one thing in common: you have to pass.Stuck in a situation where you don't know what to do? This article can help.

Tips

★1. Once you get the study guide, make plans right away to study as soon as possible. No excuses! Killing time with friends isn't worth it,since you can always hang out with them any other day.

★2. Get plenty of rest. If you walk into the classroom sleepily, you'll most likely not finish the test because you are so tired.

★3. Eat a good meal for breakfast. Some healthy breakfast suggestions are oatmeal (燕麦片), high fibre food, and grapefruit with the fresh fruit salad.

★4. Bring all necessary materials. Bring pencils, pens, pencil sharpeners, snacks (if allowed),erasers, the calculator (if allowed) and anything else you'll need for the test.

★5.Showing up late cuts back the time you'll have to take for the test if it's already testing hours. You'll probably miss any important information needed in completing the test. In some tests, late comers are not allowed to take the test.

A. The exam tests vocabulary, reading and maths skills.

B. Studies show that if you get enough sleep, your brain will be much more efficient.

C. Failing the test won't help you in the long run, so it's important to know how to prepare to pass that big test.

D. Showing up without something as simple as a pencil can make a big effect on your test.

E.One piece of cheese probably won't last until test time.

F.Don't forget to set your alarm clock and show up on the test day on time.

G.This test is a challenging one and every year many students are unable to qualify it just because of lack of guidance.

Today, more and more Chinese people enjoy sending and receiving messages on the phone. It can help them to get some information and communicate with friends. But I think I should read more books besides the textbooks, the more, the better. It can broaden(扩大)my mind and improve my language skills. {#blank#}1{#/blank#} Here are some tips for you.

    Clear your purpose for reading.

{#blank#}2{#/blank#} Most people read for two main reasons, pleasure or knowledge. Clearing about your reading purpose can not only help you choose the books you really need to read, but also remind you why reading the book is important to you.

    {#blank#}3{#/blank#}

No matter what you are reading, it is important to enjoy what you read. Although your friends like reading some kinds of books, those books might not be the ones you enjoy.

Give up books that you don't enjoy.

Eight Things That Lead to Success

"What leads to success?" This may be a question asked by those who want to make something of their life. For seven years, Richard. John made 500 interviews. Here he wants to tell you what really leads to success.

And the first thing is passion.

    Freeman Thomas says, "I'm driven by my passion." TED-sters do it for love; they don't do it for money. Carol Coletta says, "I would pay someone to do what I do." {#blank#}1{#/blank#}

Work

Rupert Murdoch said to me, "It's all hard work. Nothing comes easily. But I have a lot of fun." Did he say fun? Rupert? Yes! {#blank#}2{#/blank#} I figure, they're not workaholics. They're workafrolics(醉心工作者).

    Good!

Alex Garden says, "To be successful put your nose down in something and get damn good at it"

There's no magic; it's practice, practice, practice.

    And it's focus.

Norman Jewison said to me, "I think it all has to do with focusing yourself on one thing."

    And push!

David Gallo says, "Push yourself. Physically, mentally, you've got to push, push, push. You gotta push through shyness and self-doubt." Goldie Hawn says, "I always had self-doubts. I wasn't good enough; I wasn't smart enough. I didn't think

I'd make it." {#blank#}3{#/blank#} (Laughter) Frank Gehry said to me," My mother pushed me."

    Serve!

Sherwin Nuland says, "It was a privilege to serve as a doctor."{#blank#}4{#/blank#} And the first thing I say to them is: "OK, well you can't serve yourself; you gotta serve others something of value. Because that's the way people really get rich."

    Ideas!

TE D-ster Bill Gates says, "I had an idea: founding the first microcomputer software company." I'd say it was a pretty good idea. And there's no magic to creativity in coming up with ideas- it's just doing some very simple things. And I give lots of evidence.

    {#blank#}5{#/blank#}

Joe Kraus says, "Persistence is the number one reason for our success." You got to persist through failure. You got to persist through CRAP! Which of course means "Criticism, Rejection, Assholes and Pressure." (Laughter)

A. So why don't I ask them what helped them succeed, and pass it on to kids?

B. And the interesting thing is: If you do it for love, the money comes anyway.

C. Now a lot of kids tell they want to be millionaires.

D. LED-sters do have fun working. And they work hard.

E. Persist!

As a senior year student, you may have so many pressures coming from so many directions that you can't figure out what to do first.

    {#blank#}1{#/blank#}.

When you have many things to do and a lot of demands on your time, you can lose sight of what's important. One of the best ways to see the big picture — what you want out of life — is to lay out your goals.

Pressure Points and How to Deal With Them

Confused or overwhelmed — {#blank#}2{#/blank#}. Discuss your concerns with a friend, parent or teacher. They may help you find solutions to your problems and worries.

Being too hard on yourself — ease up, take a break and do something you enjoy. Daydream, read a book, go out with friends — anything that helps you relax.

Problems, problems, problems — recognize your limits. It's too stressful to try to deal with all your problems at once. {#blank#}3{#/blank#}.

    Goal-Setting Tips

It's important to remember that goals belong to you — not to your parents, your teachers, or your friends. After you've set your goals, identify the skills you have to achieve those goals. {#blank#}4{#/blank#}, do some research. Try the library, your guidance adviser and teachers, and other people who could help you.

{#blank#}5{#/blank#}. If your goal is something you no longer want, change it. Identify the barriers to getting your goals. Consider ways to overcome them. Don't get depressed by a big, long-term goal — see what steps you can take to achieve it and set those steps down as short-term, "do-able" goals.

A. Too much to do

B. Balancing goals in life

C. Goals exist to serve you

D. Talk to someone you trust

E. If you're not sure what skills you'll need

F. As long as you know what skill is important and what isn't

Planning before buying something is a good idea. For example, you are going to buy a pet dog, you still have to consider a few things and plan them well before you welcome it in the house. {#blank#}1{#/blank#} You will also have to train it well so that it does not misbehave in front of people. You should realize that it is a big responsibility.

{#blank#}2{#/blank#}Think about whether your pocket can manage the purchase, as well as different items for keeping the dog. If something goes wrong with the health of your pet, you will have to spend some extra money on it.

The next thing you need to consider is your home, {#blank#}3{#/blank#}You will also have to consider the family members. If your living place is already too crowded with people, getting a dog as an additional member of the house will not be a good idea.

{#blank#}4{#/blank#}Make sure nobody is allergic(过敏的) to the fur of the dog. Also make sure that you can easily find time to train the dog. Ensure that your family is welcoming to this idea.

{#blank#}5{#/blank#} When you are bringing this best friend in your house you must make sure everything is right for it. You should make life easier for it, as well as others who are living in your house.

A. Looking after your dog doesn't only mean taking it for a walk or playing with it.

B. A dog is supposed to be man s best friend.

C. Before you think about getting a dog, think about the afford ability(经济承受力).

D. The training should start as soon as the dog is in your care.
