Your tour will begin with a tour of Old Shanghai, a {#blank#}2{#/blank#}(mix) of pretty narrow streets, traditional Chinese stores, and restaurants selling delicious dumplings, {#blank#}3{#/blank#} is the original pre-war Shanghai. Dating back to 1911 Shanghai, Old Town, was a walled city made up {#blank#}4{#/blank#}(main)of fishermen, but the walls of the city {#blank#}5{#/blank#}(tear) down to allow free movement and easier trade. Continue through the Old Town, {#blank#}6{#/blank#}you'll find the Yu Garden there, first {#blank#}7{#/blank#}(establish) in the Ming Dynasty by a Mandarin named Pan Yunduan, who used to be the governor of Sichuan. The Yu Garden is considered {#blank#}8{#/blank#}the best garden in Southeast China, and enjoys {#blank#}9{#/blank#}history of over 400 years long. A large-scale restoration of the Yu Garden was conducted {#blank#}10{#/blank#}it opened to the public formally in 1961.

    Silk was not the only product to be transported along the Silk Road, {#blank#}1{#/blank#}other goods such as tea, medicinal herbs also being exported from China. Many merchants found instant wealth through the trade in luxury items．

    Rather than traveling the entire length of the Silk Road, each merchant traded goods along one section of the route, {#blank#}2{#/blank#} (buy) them in one town and then selling in another. The travelers and merchants also {#blank#}3{#/blank#} (carry) many ideas, philosophies and religions with them along the Silk Road. Of all these, Buddhism, {#blank#}4{#/blank#}came from India, had the greatest influence on Chinese culture. It{#blank#}5{#/blank#}(eventual) became China's primary faith, {#blank#}6{#/blank#}(widespread) than the original Chinese religions of Confucianism and Taoism．

    Silk Road trades traveled together in long caravans of camels. This mode of travel provided{#blank#}7{#/blank#}(protect) from robbers who might attempt {#blank#}8{#/blank#} (rob) the valuable goods being transported．The Silk Road was not only one single road, but{#blank#}9{#/blank#} whole collection of routes by which goods{#blank#}10{#/blank#} (transport) between the East and the West．

    TFK, a reporter from NEWS WEEKLY, is interviewing JACOB, a famous actor and singer.

    TFK: What made you get into music?

    JACOB: My family is very {#blank#}1{#/blank#}(music). My dad and uncles formed a music group. So when I was young, I was always looking up to them and watching them performing. At the age of 9, I started getting into the studio. Everything developed from there.

    TFK: Is there a player{#blank#}2{#/blank#}achievements you admire (羡慕)?

    JACOB: Right now, I would say Justin Timberlake. He really did well in the film and music.

    TFK: What other projects are you working on?

    JACOB: I am working on a record{#blank#}3{#/blank#}(call) This is Me: Volume 2. I{#blank#}4{#/blank#}(do) movies all year, because I want to{#blank#}5{#/blank#}(brief) show my fans my growth. I'm also in a movie called The Maze Runner,{#blank#}6{#/blank#} will come out next September.

    TFK: When you are not acting or studying, what do you like to do?

    JACOB: I love to eat service food on set. I was eating chocolate bars while {#blank#}7{#/blank#} (make) the film Black Nativity. I was eating so much{#blank#}8{#/blank#} they were making special food packages for me.

    TFK: By the way, what message do you think people will take away{#blank#}9{#/blank#}Black Nativity?

    JACOB: The true meaning of faith and the deep{#blank#}10{#/blank#}(devote) to one's family.

    Which would you rather be, a mathematician or {#blank#}1{#/blank#}author? Perhaps you will never be {#blank#}2{#/blank#}(face)with this kind of choice. Lewis Carroll was a mathematician and author. He was a lecturer in mathematics at Oxford University. The author's real name was Charles Lutwidge Dodgson, but he {#blank#}5{#/blank#} (prefer)to use the pen name "Lewis Carroll" when he wrote, and this is the name we remember him by.     Since {#blank#}1{#/blank#} first fully artificial plastic was invented in 1907, humans {#blank#}2{#/blank#}(find) innumerable uses for the material. It has found {#blank#}3{#/blank#}(it) way into our tools, our clothes and even our bodies.
