There was nothing but gold,” Answered the old man. The young man could not believe his won ears and was {#blank#}2{#/blank#}great amazement. Then he began to think about {#blank#}3{#/blank#}to get the gold. The old man was very tired and it seemed that he could hardly keep his eyes open. After a while the old man {#blank#}4{#/blank#}(lie) down on the chair and fell asleep.The young man took {#blank#}5{#/blank#}big bag gently and quietly. But when he was just about to run away, he found a corner of his fur coat was under the old man's body. Several times he tried to pull it out, {#blank#}6{#/blank#} in vain. At last he took off his coat, {#blank#}7{#/blank#} (think) that the gold in the bag must cost far more than his fur coat. Nervous but {#blank#}8{#/blank#}(delight), the young man ran out of the station as quickly as his legs could carry him until he reached a place {#blank#}9{#/blank#}he thought the old man couldn't find him. He stopped and quickly opened the bag but he just found a great many of small stones in it. Then he ran back to the station {#blank#}10{#/blank#}(hurry) only to find that the old man was gone.

    Little Free Library is a nonprofit organization that inspires a love for reading and builds community. It is also referred to {#blank#}1{#/blank#} neighborhood book exchanges around the world. This is a creative idea {#blank#}2{#/blank#} (think) up by Todd Bol and Rick Brooks in 2009, which seeks {#blank#}3{#/blank#} (put) small book exchange boxes right in front of a house or on a street corner to offer free books to {#blank#}4{#/blank#} (member) of the local community. Mini libraries of all shapes and sizes exist, from a {#blank#}5{#/blank#} (bright) painted wooden house to a library based on Doctor Who's TARDIS.

Their website states: "Little Free Libraries have a unique, personal touch and there is an understanding that people are sharing their favorite books with their community. These are not just any old books {#blank#}7{#/blank#} a carefully organized collection. Besides, the library {#blank#}8{#/blank#} (it) is a piece of neighborhood art!"

    Through Little Free Libraries, millions of books {#blank#}9{#/blank#} (exchange) each year among readers of all ages and backgrounds. They also play an important role in remote areas by {#blank#}10{#/blank#} (provide) access to books and encouraging a love for reading.

    What is reading?

    Reading is actually a very complex process that requires a great deal of active{#blank#}1{#/blank#}(participate) on the part of the reader. It is an active thinking process involving the interaction between the reader and the print. That is to say, the reader's schema (former or previous knowledge) about the topic to{#blank#}2{#/blank#}(read) and his language knowledge (vocabulary and grammar) directly affect his understanding of the reading material and{#blank#}3{#/blank#}turn, the new information about the topic{#blank#}4{#/blank#}(contain) in the reading material will enlarge the reader's former schema.

    Reading is a very important{#blank#}5{#/blank#}(mean) of gaining knowledge about culture, custom, science education and technology from others or other countries. It is a good way of learning the most advanced hi-technology{#blank#}6{#/blank#}(serve) the needs of the social development and the interests of our people through reading. Reading is{#blank#}7{#/blank#}inseparable component of the English learning. We should lay solid foundations for our advanced education, and we can master the language by reading{#blank#}8{#/blank#}(large). However, it is a very complex activity{#blank#}9{#/blank#}involves almost all psychological processes{#blank#}10{#/blank#}(include) sensation, perception, motor behavior, motivation, attention, emotion, cognition and all kinds of memory.

    For Nigel Portman, a love of travelling began with what's called a "gap year". In common with many other British teenagers, he chose {#blank#}1{#/blank#} (take) a year out before settling down to study for his degree. After doing various {#blank#}2{#/blank#} (job) to raise some money, he left home to gain some experience of life in different cultures, visiting America and Asia. In other words, he'll be relying {#blank#}7{#/blank#} (main) on bicycles and his own legs; and when there's an ocean to cross, he won't be taking a shortcut (捷径) {#blank#}8{#/blank#} flying aboard—he'll be joining the crew of a sailing ship, instead.

    As well as doing some mountain climbing along {#blank#}9{#/blank#} way, Nigel hopes to pass on to the people he meets the environmental message {#blank#}10{#/blank#} lies behind the whole idea.
