When people think of tigers, words like" strong" and " dangerous" come into their mind. But now, the big animal is calling for our help. There were once eight kinds of tigers in the world, but three died out during last century. In the past 70 years, the number of Siberian tigers has gone from as many as 300 to somewhere between 18 and 22.

   World Wildlife Fund started a programme. It is about to put an end to tiger poaching(非法狩猎) and save wild tigers. China, together with 12 other countries, has joined in. The aim is to double the number of wild tigers in the next ten years.

According to the research by Chinese officers and WWF, the Siberian tiger is already one of the planet's most endangered animals. "If the government doesn't do anything, it's quite possible that there will be no more Siberian tigers in China in 10 to 20 years." said Zhu Chunquan, director at WWF Beijing office.

    Wild animals such as deer and wild bears are tigers' main food. The poaching of these animals is the greatest danger to tigers. Another one is the trap(陷阱). "Volunteers from WWF remove traps every year, but we cannot clear all the traps ourselves," Zhu said. The most important thing people can do is to save the animals tigers eat." To protect the tigers, we need to call on more people to stop hunting wild animals."

Alicia: What time do you normally start and end your workday?

Ricky: That depends on the part of the project I'm working on. Before and after filming. I usually wake up at 7 a. m., start working soon after that, and stop in the afternoon. During filming, I don't have a regular schedule. I usually wake up when the sun comes up and I quit when the sun goes down.

Ricky: That also depends on the project. I work from home when I'm not filming. While I'm filming, I work all over the world. For example, when I was making a film about the Himalayas, I worked in a village in the mountains. 

Alicia: Why did you choose to do this kind of work?

Ricky: When I was young, I watched a lot of movies and read a lot of books. They showed me different ways of living and thinking. I want my films and photographs to do this for other people! 

Alicia: What's the most difficult thing about your job?

Ricky: The paperwork. It's boring, but it's important.

Do you know pygmy hippo(侏儒河马)? It is a lovely animal. A baby pygmy hippo named Moo Deng from Thailand got popular recently and now she welcomes thousands of visitors every day in a zoo in Thailand.

 Most people got to love her through the photos and videos on the zoo' s website. It's impossible not to love her! Her keeper is Mr Nundee. He has been sharing her videos online since she was very young. In the videos, Moo Deng walks around, spends time with her mother, and tries to play with Mr Nundee.

 Now Moo Deng has millions of fans. Some companies use her pictures to sell all kinds of things. In September, the zoo made special clothes with her pictures on them. They soon sold out.

 There are only about 2,000 pygmy hippos left in the wild. Their"home" in West Africa is being destroyed(破坏). Sometimes, they are also hunted for food. The zoo hopes Moo Deng's fans can help protect pygmy hippos.

Now the zoo sets up an online camera. In this way, people can see what Moo Deng is doing 24 hours a day.
