A lot of primary schools in China are doing something to improve naptime conditions (午休条件)for students.

Recently, Dongxing Experimental Primary School in Quanzhou, Fujian, is popular on the Internet. Why? Because the school uses adjustable(可调整的) sleep desks to help students have a better nap. With a simple turn of a knob(旋钮), desks become comfortable beds. In this way, students can rest in a proper way.

Longteng Primary School in Zhengzhou, Henan, is another example. At school, there are some unused classrooms. These classrooms are now naptime rooms with beds and pillows.

For classroom usage, Tianqi Primary School in Wuhan, Hubei, is planning to make unused indoor sports fields and activity rooms future nap spaces. Teachers in Tianqi said, "Students are excited to hear this news. They are looking forward to having a comfortable place to rest."

In the town of Chashan, Liling, Hunan, Meixia Wanquan Primary School plays an important role for a great number of left-behind children who live too far away to return home for a nap. An organization gave them 130 folding beds to make sure every child could have a proper nap.

The new way of napping at school is not only comfortable but also good for health. Medical experts warn, "If students take naps with their face down, it will increase(增加)their eye pressure and finally lead to some eye problems. The lying-down way of napping addresses these worries, and protects the children's health."

Cindy studies in a middle school. When Cindy first came to the new school, she felt very lonely (孤独的), because she had few friends. She wanted to make some friends with the same hobbies as her, but it was too hard. She was new and shy, and she was afraid to talk with them. After a week, her teacher Mr Green asked Cindy to sit next to Jenny. But she was unhappy because Jenny was too noisy, too outgoing (外向的) and she acted like a boy. And sometimes she was very rude (粗鲁的) to her classmates. Cindy was very worried. "Jenny will not be my friend. We are so different," she said to herself.

However, as time went by, Cindy became more outgoing because of Jenny. In fact, Jenny is really lovely and helpful. They are different, but they help each other and they become good friends. Cindy has made a lot of friends because of Jenny. She's really happy. 

Now, Jenny is studying in a new school. Cindy really misses her. "It's not important to be the same as your friends. Good friends share happiness and sadness," said Cindy.

Sailing a boat is great exercise, which can be enjoyed with family or friends. Many people all over the world sail each year. With some lessons and practice, you could be one of them. {#blank#}1{#/blank#}

● Understand the basics (基础知识)

When you're starting out in sailing, learn the basics first. {#blank#}2{#/blank#} It works like any sailboat-with sails to catch the wind and push the boat forward. The sailor, the person working the boat, has to be able to move the sails, as well as use a rudder (舵) in order to direct the boat where they want it to go.

● Find sailing near you.

The most important lesson you can learn in sailing is how to do it safely, with the help of experienced sailing coaches. {#blank#}3{#/blank#} Then ask your parents to call them to find out what lessons or camps they have for kids in your age group.

● Prepare for your lesson.

As a beginner, your lesson will start on land. You'll learn skills, like how to raise the sails by pulling on the lines. {#blank#}4{#/blank#} It includes the boat and a life vest (救生衣). Ask what type of shoes you should wear, and dress in clothes that will dry easily.

Remember to always wear your life vest on or near water, even when you're on the dock (码头). Don't go near a boat or take one out unless your parents agree, and never sail or swim alone. 

When it comes to Chinese paper-cutting, many think of typical works like the Chinese characters Fu, meaning luck, or xi, meaning happiness. To change those stereotypes(固有印象) and make paper-cutting more creative, Ye Kaiyuan, a paper-cutting artist from Zhangzhou, Fujian Province, worked many years to make the traditional art more modern and fashionable.

 As a child, Ye would draw and cut. He even won second place in a national competition. In the summer of 2012, he held his first show of his own paper-cuttings. It turned out to be a great success.

 In the traditional way to the skill, cutting comes first, then dyeing(染色). But Ye tries to dye first and then cut. "This means you will not know the final color of your work, which is interesting," he said.

 For Ye, the lines in each paper-cutting are an expression of feelings. He always carries notebooks to write down his ideas. The idea for his work called A Picture of Two Fish came when he saw salted fish at a store. Other inspirations(灵感) come from his observation(观察) of things such as fruit and visits to different places.

 The creative process is slow. It took Ye two weeks to draw and make Farewell My Concubine(《霸王别姬》). He did not cut two of the characters in this story. Instead, he used flowers and curves(曲线) to represent Yu Ji — the heroine of the story.
