Tom and Mike are good friends. They are good to kids. They want to find summer jobs. One day Tom tells Mike that Beidaihe Kids Summer Camp needs help with sports, music and computers. They are both very glad to hear this.

    Tom can play basketball and volleyball, and he can swim, too. Mike can play the violin, the drums and the guitar, and he also likes soccer. Tom and Mike like computers very much. Can they join the Summer Camp?

    Imagineyou are taking a walk on the beautiful beach. Just then, your feet step oversomething and you hear a crack (噼啪声) —an empty plastic bottle. Things like thisare happening more often because of sea rubbish.

    Studiesshow that 80%of all the waste is from the land. The waste is mainly plastics (塑料制品) which are really hard todegrade (降解). So the rubbish will remain there for along time. Some of the pollution is caused accidentally. For example, about10,000 product-filled boxes are lost at sea every year from business ships.Sometimes people just throw things into the water from boats or land. Manylarge rubbish areas are formed in the North Pacific Ocean.

   Thankfully, the situation isn't ignored (忽视). Groups like the National Oceanic and AtmosphericAssociation (NOAA) are taking action to help clean the sea. Since 2006, 76projects have cleared out 3,814 metric tons (公吨) ofrubbish from the sea. Methods of rubbish cleaning include using machines toremove (移除) the waste away from the surface of seawater. Besides, special nets are set by the mouths of rivers to stop therubbish before it reaches the sea. If everyone does his part, sea rubbish seemslike a problem that can be solved.

A dance show called The Journey of a Legendary Landscape Painting《只此青绿》is on CCTV's Spring Festival Gala. It becomes popular very soon. The show gets the idea from the 900-year-old Chinese {#blank#}1{#/blank#}（paint） A Panorama of Rivers and Mountains《千里江山图》. The Song Dynasty painter Wang Ximeng made it{#blank#}2{#/blank#} the age of 18. The painting {#blank#}3{#/blank#}（show）a Chinese blue-green landscape(风景画)˗˗˗˗mountains between blue sky {#blank#}4{#/blank#}clean water. The dance shows the Chinese traditional beautiful paintings. The dancers each have a {#blank#}5{#/blank#}(differently) hairstyle. The clothes that they wear are green and blue. It also shows the colors{#blank#}6{#/blank#}the mountains and rivers. {#blank#}7{#/blank#} the dancers sway (摇摆) in {#blank#}8{#/blank#}(they) dresses, we seem to be looking at the moving mountains and rivers. Mountains and rivers are coming to 1ife more than 1,000 years later!Now more and more new shows are {#blank#}9{#/blank#} Chinese traditional culture(文化). We hope {#blank#}10{#/blank#}(many) young people will be interested in it.

We recycle (回收利用) rubbish, so why not language? Recycling language means using vocabulary（词汇）that you have learnt before again and again. However, unlike rubbish that piles up (堆积) in our environment, if we do not recycle language, we simply forget it. So how do you recycle language?

There are basically（主要的）three ways to do it. The first is through reading. Go back to your favourite articles and read them once more. Just reread them and do not worry about each vocabulary item. If there are some that you are not sure about, make a guess and you will probably guess right. The second way to recycle is through writing. Look at some of your favourite articles and write either a short paragraph or a few sentences in your own words. After you have done this a few times, go back and read through what you have written, checking vocabulary functions. Don't worry if you have made mistakes. That's how you learn. The third way to recycle language is by having an imaginary chat with yourself about your favourite articles at home. You can pretend there is someone with you who speaks English and tell him what you are thinking about or how you feel.

Tom and Tony are brothers. Tom exercises every day. He plays soccer five times a week and he swims and runs every weekend. He drinks milk and eats fruit and vegetables every day. He doesn't eat junk food. He sleeps eight hours every night.

Tony doesn't like to exercise, but he sometimes plays soccer with his brother. He really likes to watch TV. He watches TV for four or five hours every night. He never drinks milk, and he hardly ever eats fruit and vegetables. He loves junk food. He eats junk food five or six times a week. He often plays computer games, too. He sleeps eight hours every night.

Mary did not understand such sentence as "She is blue today. ""You are yellow. ""He has a green thumb. ""He has told a little white lie. " and so on. And she went to her teacher for help. 

Mary: Mrs. Smith, there is a color in each of these sentences. What do they mean?

Mrs. Smith: In everyday English, Mary, blue sometimes means sad. Yellow means afraid. A person with a green thumb grows plants very well. And a white lie is not a bad one. 

Mary: Would you give me an example for "a white lie"?

Mrs. Smith: Certainly. Now I give you some cakes. In fact, you don't like it. What will you say?"

Mary: I will say "No, thanks. I'm not hungry. "

Mrs. Smith: That's a white lie. 

Mary: Oh, I see. Thank you very much.
