Does the age gap matter in a relationship?

    The love story of French President Emmanuel Macron and Brigitte Trogneux, 24 years his senior, has aroused heated discussion on age differences {#blank#}1{#/blank#} relationships. Does age matter or should love prevail(战胜) over all?

    I find {#blank#}2{#/blank#} a very heartwarming love story. Not just this couple,{#blank#}3{#/blank#}any couple - what does age difference matter after all? If they love each other,{#blank#}4{#/blank#} ( devote) to the relationship and work on making it strong, that is what{#blank#}5{#/blank#} (count).

    It is nearly impossible for Chinese women to accept Macron's relationship. It is  {#blank#}6{#/blank#} (common) for older men to marry younger women, but for an older woman to marry a younger man is often seen as {#blank#}7{#/blank#} (appropriate). If you get along well, go for it, it's your life and life is way too short{#blank#}8{#/blank#} (let) a potential soul mate get away because of what you think others would say. I think it really doesn't matter. It is involved in the {#blank#}9{#/blank#} (devote) of the people and how well they enjoy each other's company is important along with supporting each other {#blank#}10{#/blank#}(emotion), financially etc....

    Two brothers decided to dig a deep hole behind their house. As they were working,a couple of older boys{#blank#}1{#/blank#} (stop) by to watch.

    “What are you doing?” asked one of the{#blank#}2{#/blank#} (visitor) curiously.

    “We plan{#blank#}3{#/blank#} (dig) a hole all the way through the earth!”one of the brothers said{#blank#}4{#/blank#} (excited).

    The older boys began to laugh,telling the {#blank#}5{#/blank#} (young) ones that it was impossible.

    After a long {#blank#}6{#/blank#} (silent), one of the diggers picked up {#blank#}7{#/blank#} box full of spiders and insects. He showed the wonderful things {#blank#}8{#/blank#}  the older boys.

    Then he said confidently, “Even if we don't dig all the way through the earth, look at what we found along the way!”

    {#blank#}9{#/blank#} (they) dream was far too big,but it did cause them to dig. And that is what a dream is for—to cause us to move in the direction we have chosen.

    Not every dream will be realized. But when you couldn't get what you wanted, perhaps you can say, “Yes,but look at the wonderful things {#blank#}10{#/blank#} have come into my life because I tried to do something! ”

    One news story about the modem Olympics is about men {#blank#}1{#/blank#} (pretend) to be women to enter the women's events, People are arguing about how fair {#blank#}2{#/blank#} is to test woman athletes to make sure they are not men. One side argues that men are {#blank#}3{#/blank#} (strong), so they will win any women's event. They say that women should be tested to make sure they are not men. The other side argues that this is {#blank#}4{#/blank#} (fair)to women. They say skill is more important than strength. But has this ever really happened? {#blank#}5{#/blank#} answer is yes, several times! The most famous case is that of Dora in the 1936 Olympic Games.

    The Olympics {#blank#}6{#/blank#} (hold) in Berlin, Germany, three years after the Nazis came {#blank#}7{#/blank#} power. The Nazis wanted to win lots of events, but they had wrong ideas about race. They did not want black or Jewish people in the German team. But many of their best athletes were Jewish. The Nazis did not let these athletes compete. But that meant they might lose events! One event {#blank#}8{#/blank#} the Nazis thought they might lose was the women's high Jump. So the Nazis sent a male athlete, Hermann Ratjen, {#blank#}9{#/blank#} (compete) under the name of “Dora”. Did he win? No. “Dora” came fourth. The {#blank#}10{#/blank#} (win) was a young Jewish woman from Hungary. She jumped 1.60 metres. “Dora” only jumped 1.58 metres. So men do not always win.

Gerrard Street in London's Chinatown

    Gerrard Street, which is between Leicester Square and Shaftsbury Avenue, is the most important street in the area. There is {#blank#}1{#/blank#} unique community with many Chinese restaurants, supermarkets and shops.

    In the 1950s, it{#blank#}2{#/blank#} (be) a poor area and everything there was very cheap. With the world rice market changing, thousands of farm workers in Hong Kong lost their jobs, {#blank#}3{#/blank#}(move) to work in some restaurants in London. Many British people liked Chinese food, so the restaurants became popular. The workers often worked 17 hours a day and had no time {#blank#}4{#/blank#} (learn) English. Due to the {#blank#}5{#/blank#} (arrive) of more Chinese, more shops and businesses grew up. {#blank#}6{#/blank#} (wife) came and joined their husbands with their children. The community grew, and Chinatown was born.

    Since the 1970s, economy has changed for the {#blank#}7{#/blank#} (good), and the education state of British-born Chinese started to improve. Many families moved out {#blank#}8{#/blank#} Chinatown. Gerrard Street became a street only for visitors.

    London's Chinatown is very popular in Chinese New Year, during {#blank#}9{#/blank#} time thousands of Chinese go into the street with national flags. Londoners and tourists go there {#blank#}10{#/blank#} (main) for the food in the Chinese restaurants. Their favorite restaurants are where the Chinese eat.

    Chinese foods, with a long history, {#blank#}1{#/blank#}(be) known for their special taste and delicacy(精细). Here are several traditional Chinese foods.

    Noodles are a symbol of long life in Chinese culture. They are as much a part as {#blank#}2{#/blank#} birthday cake with its candles {#blank#}3{#/blank#}(light) in western countries. Since noodles mean long life, it is considered very {#blank#}4{#/blank#} (lucky) to cut it off.

    In China, a whole fish {#blank#}5{#/blank#} (symbol) richness. At a party, it is a tradition to serve the whole fish. Fish also has a special meaning because the Chinese word for fish, yu, which sounds like the word for richness. So {#blank#}6{#/blank#} is believed that eating fish will help your wishes come true in the year to come.

    Another popular dish is zongzi, {#blank#}7{#/blank#} is served during the Dragon Boat Festival. This tasty dish {#blank#}8{#/blank#}(make) of sticky rice with meat, peanuts or other delicious food in bamboo {#blank#}9{#/blank#}(leaf). The tradition of zongzi is meant to remind us {#blank#}10{#/blank#} a great Chinese poet, Qu Yuan.
