Some time ago, a light passenger plane flew {#blank#}1{#/blank#} course(航线) and thus crashed in the mountains and the pilot {#blank#}2{#/blank#}(kill). The only passengers, a young woman and her two baby daughters, were unhurt. It was the middle of winter. Snow {#blank#}3{#/blank#}(lie) thick on the ground. The woman knew that the nearest village was kilometers away and she was not strong enough {#blank#}4{#/blank#}(carry) her baby daughters there. When it grew dark, she turned the suit-case into a bed, where the children,{#blank#}5{#/blank#} (cover) with all the clothes she could find, could be protected from the wind. During the night, it got {#blank#}6{#/blank#}(terrible) cold. The woman kept as near as she could to the children and even tried to get into the case herself, but it was too small. Early next morning, she heard planes {#blank#}7{#/blank#}(fly) overhead and wondered how she could send a signal. Then she had an idea. She wrote the letters SOS in the snow. Luckily, a pilot saw {#blank#}8{#/blank#}signal and sent a message by radio to the nearest town. It was not long {#blank#}9{#/blank#}a helicopter arrived on the scene to save the {#blank#}10{#/blank#} (survive) of the plane crash.

    When we plant a rose seed in the earth,we notice it is small,but we do not criticize it as "rootlees and stemless".We treat it as a seed, {#blank#}1{#/blank#} （give）it the water and nourishment required {#blank#}2{#/blank#} a seed.

    When it first {#blank#}3{#/blank#} （shoot up）out of the earth, we don't condemn（指责）it as {#blank#}4{#/blank#} （mature） and underdeveloped, {#blank#}5{#/blank#} do we criticize the buds for not being open when they appear.     One day when I was five years old, my mother took me to a swimming pool. She wanted to teach me how to swim.{#blank#}1{#/blank#} (sad), I was almost drowned(淹死，溺死).{#blank#}2{#/blank#} I was rescued by a man, my mother was so {#blank#}3{#/blank#}(frighten) that she decided never to let me get close to a swimming pool again.{#blank#}4{#/blank#}, I thought quite differently. Instead of letting that horrible incident create more fear around water for me, I decided to become a good {#blank#}5{#/blank#}(swim). After I told my mother about that, she thought I was right and {#blank#}6{#/blank#}(agree). So I started to learn how to swim again. My mother became more careful and I was not in danger again. Later I became {#blank#}7{#/blank#} interested in swimming that I decided to compete in swimming events. After years of efforts, my dream came true. I was the first African American {#blank#}8{#/blank#}(win) an Olympic Gold Medal in swimming. I did so at both 2008 and 2012 Olympics.

    Now I spend much of my time {#blank#}9{#/blank#} (help) children learn how to swim. Hundreds of children each year drown in the United States.{#blank#}10{#/blank#} (learn) how to swim can prevent 80% of these tragedies.

    Tea is enjoyed all over the world as a comforting treat. First, choose the type of tea you want to drink. There are various types of tea that offer different health {#blank#}1{#/blank#} (benefit) and flavors. Next, boil a pot of water and pour it over your tea. Allow your tea to soak thoroughly.     Green tea is known for {#blank#}4{#/blank#} (it) high level of a cancer-fighting chemical. However, green tea is high in caffeine and can make you feel anxious and nervous if you drink too much. It is said that oolong tea may promote healthy skin and black tea can {#blank#}5{#/blank#} (great) reduce the risk of breast cancer in younger women. White tea is helpful in preventing cavities and building the {#blank#}6{#/blank#} (strong) of your teeth. There have been many claims about herbal teas which can do good to health, but there is {#blank#}7{#/blank#} (limit) research or supporting data on these claims.

    Most teas can {#blank#}8{#/blank#} (buy) and transported in tins of loose tea or in small packages of tea bags. Some people believe that loose leaf teas have a {#blank#}9{#/blank#} (fresh) flavor than tea bags{#blank#}10{#/blank#} others prefer tea bags because they're much easier to use and carry around.

    I paid a visit {#blank#}1{#/blank#} Cambridge last January. Though the trip took me 5 hours and it rained the whole day with strong winds, the town deserved a visit.

    The bus started at 6:10 am. It stopped at 4 stops before we finally arrived, {#blank#}2{#/blank#} wasted more time than we had expected. {#blank#}3{#/blank#}(tire) with long time of sitting, one passenger stood up to relax his numb (麻木的) legs. The driver asked him to sit down but in vain. So he pulled up and said {#blank#}4{#/blank#} (serious), "You either get off or sit down." To him, {#blank#}5{#/blank#} (safe) was the first policy.

    Cambridge consists of nearly thirty colleges. The {#blank#}6{#/blank#} (old) part of the university was built in the 13th century {#blank#}7{#/blank#} the newest was founded in the mid-1960s. The number of the students {#blank#}8{#/blank#}(be) so great that many students live in lodgings（出租房）and move into college for their final year.

    The heart of Cambridge has shops, pubs, and supermarkets, but most of it is university colleges, departments, libraries and other places for university staff and students. Students fill the shops, cafes, banks and churches, {#blank#}9{#/blank#} (make) them as well part of the university.

    With over 10,000 undergraduates and postgraduates, the town is a busy place indeed. Students here are not allowed {#blank#}10{#/blank#} (keep) cars. If you happen to be walking in the street during a break, you'd better stop for a moment to avoid the sea of bicycles hurrying in all directions, which carry students from one college or a lecture room to another.
