Founded in Yan'an in 1941, Beijing Foreign Studies University (BFSU) is now a famous university located in the Haidian District of Beijing, a place in {#blank#}1{#/blank#}the key institutions of higher {#blank#}2{#/blank#} (educate) are concentrated. Excellence in foreign language teaching has allowed BFSU {#blank#}3{#/blank#}(enjoy) a good fame for quality in teaching and research activities.

    The university campus occupies {#blank#}4{#/blank#} area of 304,553 square meters, with a student dormitory area of 40,000 square meters and a library of 9,997 square meters. The Third Ring Road runs through the center of the university campus,{#blank#}5{#/blank#}（make） transportation very convenient. The university is {#blank#}6{#/blank#}(wide) known as Beiwai in Mandarin and BFSU in English.

    BFSU has over 600 highly-qualified and {#blank#}7{#/blank#}(experience) staff members. Each year approximately 120 teachers and experts {#blank#}8{#/blank#}(employ) from more than 20 {#blank#}9{#/blank#}(country) to teach at BFSU. BFSU is a member of Project 211, a university development program supported {#blank#}10{#/blank#} the Ministry of Education.

    Once a group of 50 people was attending a seminar. Halfway {#blank#}1{#/blank#} his talk, the speaker stopped and decided  {#blank#}2{#/blank#}(create) a group activity. He went around the hall and gave each person a balloon. Each one was asked to write his or her name on the balloon {#blank#}3{#/blank#}(use) a marker pen. Then all the balloons   {#blank#}4{#/blank#} (collect) and put in another room.

    The speaker then led the group to the room full of balloons and asked them to find the balloon that had their name  {#blank#}5{#/blank#} (write) on within five minutes.  Everyone was  {#blank#}6{#/blank#} (hurry) searching for their name, bumping into each other, pushing each other around. It was chaos. At the end of the five minutes no one could find their own balloon.

    Now each person was asked to randomly collect {#blank#}7{#/blank#}balloon and give it to the person whose name was on it. Within two minutes everyone had their own balloon. When everyone quieted down, the speaker began to talk, saying that this is exactly {#blank#}8{#/blank#} was happening in our lives.

    We may like to think of {#blank#}9{#/blank#} (us) more important than others, but our happiness sometimes lies in the happiness of other people. Give them their happiness {#blank#}10{#/blank#} you will get your own happiness.

    There was a man who had four sons. He hoped his sons could learn not to judge things too quickly. So he gave them a task in turn,{#blank#}1{#/blank#} (ask) them to go to see a pear tree at a distance{#blank#}2{#/blank#}(separate).

    The first son set out in winter, the second in spring, the third in summer, and the{#blank#}3{#/blank#}young)in autumn.

    The man told his four sons that they were all correct, but they only saw the tree in{#blank#}9{#/blank#}season, He taught them that the value of a person could only be measure when all the seasons were over.

    If you give up in winter, you{#blank#}10{#/blank#}(miss) the hope of spring, the beauty of summer, and the harvest of autumn in your life.

    What on earth does happiness mean? I can't give you its exact definition, but I'm sure if you love and help others, you'll get it.

    I'll never forget {#blank#}1{#/blank#}old lady. She lives in a small house alone. It is said that her husband and her son died in a road accident years ago. Her life is bitter, {#blank#}2{#/blank#} she often helps others with a smile. Whenever{#blank#}3{#/blank#} snows, she is always the first to clean the paths. She looks after several children {#blank#}4{#/blank#} (live) nearby. I am one of them. I often remember the stories she told us and her kind smile.     Arthur Robert Ashe Jr. was born on July 10, 1943 and died on February 6, 1993. He was the first African American player {#blank#}1{#/blank#} (take) part in the international sport of tennis at the highest level of the game.

    Arthur's father was the manager of a large park in Richmond, Virginia. Arthur {#blank#}2{#/blank#} (allow) to play in the park when he was seven years old. He was quite {#blank#}3{#/blank#} (energy). There was a swimming pool and many tennis courts in the park, {#blank#}4{#/blank#} Arthur spent a lot of time playing. He did well in sports, {#blank#}5{#/blank#} he had never tried to play tennis.

    Ronald Charity, {#blank#}6{#/blank#} famous tennis player then, noticed Arthur. Mr Charity asked Arthur {#blank#}7{#/blank#} he wanted to learn to play tennis. "I will, Mr Charity," Arthur answered {#blank#}8{#/blank#} (excite). Arthur learned very quickly. At the age of ten, Arthur competed in a tennis game. Many {#blank#}9{#/blank#} (old) and more experienced players came trying to win the prize, but Arthur beat them. He became known {#blank#}10{#/blank#} "the kid who could play tennis"．

    Arthur grew up to be one of the first successful African American tennis players. He played and won all over the world.

    Not all memories are sweet. Some people spend all{#blank#}1{#/blank#}lives trying to forget bad experiences. Now American researchers are developing a pill,{#blank#}2{#/blank#}will help people forget bad memories. The pill is planned to be taken immediately after a{#blank#}3{#/blank#}(frighten) experience. They hope it might reduce, or possibly erase, the effect of painful memories.

    However, the new research has caused a lot of argument. Supporters say bad memories may ruin people's lives. They come back{#blank#}4{#/blank#}us when we don't want to have them in a daydream or nightmare(噩梦). They usually come with very painful feelings. The pill can help to reduce many{#blank#}5{#/blank#}(suffer). But those{#blank#}6{#/blank#}are against the research say that changing memories{#blank#}7{#/blank#}(be) very dangerous because memories show who we are.

    {#blank#}8{#/blank#}the drug could first be used in only very serious cases, some people even fear that it would become more commonly used.
