任务型阅读

When it comes to the Internet, passwords which people often use are under fire.  Research has shown that passwords are not a very good way to protect sensitive information.

People would use some random characters, numbers and symbols. Furthermore, a unique password would be used for every site or application the user uses. Unfortunately, the more complex they become, the more people are likely to forget their passwords. The longer the passwords are, the more easily forgotten they are.

Google is trying to kill off the password on Android devices by introducing the Trust API, which does what simple passwords cannot. It gives developers a framework for securing their applications using a number of security systems and metrics (指标)on the device. A Trust Score will be generated based on the metrics the device gathers.

The Trust Score will be generated based on both metrics like your device location, face scanning, fingerprint and so on. Taken one at a time, these metrics arc not secure. But taken together, these metrics will help define the real "you".

This summer, Google will be running tests with some banks to see if Trust API meets their needs before rolling out to all developers later this year. It may take another year for apps and popular sites to start using the Trust API.

This is a pretty exciting change. Passwords have been around for long and although the security of systems has been improved, the convenience of systems hasn't been improved much.   Maybe that never-ending conflict between security and convenience will be able to take a break once the Trust system comes out.

A. Google appears to have the best of them.

B. Actually it's been under fire for a long time.

C. People tend to care more about its advantages.

D. Google has already been testing this on the real world.

E. Google has proved that the system is more convenient.

F. Therefore, they use the same password for each application.

G. It'll allow or refuse your application based on your trust score.

How to Be Confident

    We are all human and have weaknesses. Even if your physical appearance or social skills aren't what you wish they were, that doesn't have to stop you from being confident. {#blank#}1{#/blank#}

*Make a list of special talents you have, or things you do that are good—morally(道德上) or otherwise. It doesn't have to be a specific skill;it can be an approach or an attitude that you hold through life. {#blank#}2{#/blank#} Are you very patient with people? Do you always see the humorous side of things? Are you always there for your friends?

{#blank#}3{#/blank#} When you feel strongly about something, speak loudly and clearly and make eye contact with people. People will judge you all the time, and usually they'll misjudge you anyway, so why bother trying to live up to their opinions at all?

*Take care of yourself. Eat a healthy diet and get enough exercise. Don't abuse your body, don't overload it, and don't deny it any of the things it needs. At the same time, don't obsess(沉迷). {#blank#}4{#/blank#} Those things are only band-aids(权宜之计) and make-up. Confidence comes from within. In order to be confident, you must value yourself and understand that your well-being is important.

*Improve your posture. {#blank#}5{#/blank#} Don't drop your shoulders. Make sure that your back is straight, your shoulders are square, and your chest sticks out slightly (but stay loose, otherwise you'll appear stubborn (固执的)and nervous). Good posture also helps with deep breathing, which helps with feeling calm and relaxed.

A. Here's how to believe in yourself.

B. But smiling at yourself in the mirror helps you to love yourself, thus making you a bit more confident.

C. Buying all the moisturizers (润肤霜) and creams will not bring you closer to who you want to be.

D. It is surprising how powerful the simple step of taking action can be.

E. Do you always stay calm, cool and collected, even in hurried situations?

F. Having good posture can actually make you feel more confident.

G. Know that you have important things to say and do.

Bad days happens to many of us. Something makes us sad, angry, frustrated or disappointed. But you still have to get up and go to work. Everything others say to you sounds stupid. {#blank#}1{#/blank#}. Luckily, you can do something about it. Here are some ways to turn around a bad day.

    Accept your bad mood

Being in a bad mood is not that hard. If you're mad, be mad.{#blank#}2{#/blank#}. This does not give you the right to be rude and unpleasant to others. It just means that you need to recognize and accept your bad mood to be able to do something.

    Tell others

You can try to keep your bad mood a secret and put on your happy mask. Guess what, you're fooling nobody.{#blank#}3{#/blank#}. Simply tell them“ listen guys, I'm in a really sour mood today. I'm not sure why, but it's nothing to do with what you have done. If I bite your head off, I apologize in advance.”

    {#blank#}4{#/blank#}.

Spend a few moments to try thinking of at least one or two things that are good: Something you look forward to, such as a person you like at work or something nice that happened recently.

    Take some quiet time

And if you're having a really bad day, it may be a good idea to withdraw(撤离; 退出)a little if you can. {#blank#}5{#/blank#}. Sit and work somewhere quiet. Take a long bathroom break. Consider going home early or taking the day off.

Managing your time is a lot like managing money.{#blank#}1{#/blank#} With 24 hours a day multiplied by seven days a week, your weekly time budget is 168 hours per week.

    Step 1:{#blank#}2{#/blank#}

Estimate(估计) the amount of time per week you spend on each activity, such as class time, athletics fitness, socializing with friends and other hobby time and so on.

Step 2: Assess your use of time.

If you have time left over, ask yourself what choices can be made.{#blank#}3{#/blank#}Volunteering? Friends? If your time used equals 168, great! Now take a look at any hours you may be spending in some areas that you want to start using in other ways.

Halloween is a holiday full of tricks and treats and all things frightening and fun. But what happens when you trade your sweets for a scare? The result is always healthier than candy.

Being frightened can be good for you. Think about your favorite scary books or movies. You are scared but you just can't resist reading or watching them. Being frightened makes your brain flood with healthy chemical substances that excite your mood and release feelings of great excitement.

When you're frightened, your body also produces a chemical called oxytocin, which helps people bond with one another. So, if you're at a haunted(闹鬼的) house with some pals, that experience can help strengthen your friendship. “Watch people walking out of a haunted house, and you'll see lots of smiles and high fives,” says Dr. Margee Kerr, a sociologist who studies fear.

There is also some evidence that being scared can help a person manage stressful situations. Things like giving a presentation in front of your class or performing in a school play can make us fearful and anxious. But these experiences help build a sort of endurance to fear that makes us more confident. “You become more comfortable with the physical experience of fear, and so you're better able to work through it during tense situations,” Kerr explains.

Though some haunting may be healthy, it's important to remember that people experience fear in different ways. What may be fun for one person could be too scary for another. And Kerr notes that kids younger than six and or seven can't separate real and make-believe, so seeing something frightening could have lasting, negative effects.

Plastic sludge (污泥) and garbage is a disaster for the world's oceans. A film crew traveled the globe to document the rubbish. And Julie Andersen of the Plastic Oceans Foundation says what we see is just the tip of the problem. "Half of the waste actually sinks to the bottom, and that remains on the surface actually breaks down. "

The filmmakers found rubbish in ocean gyres, the circulating currents that trap large concentrations of pollution in the Atlantic, Indian, and Pacific Oceans, home of what some have plastic. "What we found was a plastic smog that spread throughout all the water. And in some parts of the oceans, scientists have found more plastic than plant. "

The pieces of the plastic garbage infect the food chain, sometimes visibly, and more so at the microscopic level, where the plastic particles interact with other pollutants. "There are heavy metals, medicines, industrial waste in the sea, while they acts like magnets (磁铁). These poisonous substances absorb on the plastic, and then when seafood absorbs the plastics, those poisonous substances enter the fatty tissues. " To be consumed by other sea life and by people at last.

China, Indonesia, the Philippines, Thailand and Vietnam are the worst plastic polluters. The United States, although a leader in recycling, is one of the world's 20 since it produces and consumes so much plastic. There are efforts around the world to address the problem, including at this newly opened recycling center in Lebanon (黎巴嫩). But Andersen says there is more that people can do. "Cut back on singleuse plastics, straws, plastic cups, plastic water bottles, plastic bags and find alternatives like reusable materials. " She says healthy oceans are essential to our survival.
