Mrs. Jones was over eighty, but she still drove her old car like a woman half her age. She loved driving very fast, and was proud of the fact 1 she had never, in her thirty-five years of driving, been punished 2 a driving offence (犯规，犯法).

    Then one day she nearly3 her record. A police car 4 her, and the policemen in it saw her5 a red light without stopping. Of course, she was stopped. It seemed 6 that she would be punished.

A Deed a Day

    It was a busy day as usual. I was making sandwiches and balancing the phone between my shoulder and chin. The washing machine sounded as my husband walked in with our daughters.     I'd been proud that I'd never lost my cellphone until my husband Jack got a call one evening.

    When I was about twelve, I was taken out for dinner with my family one day. As we headed towards the 1, a girl about my age came up to us and asked if we had any spare2.     Finally, the dog was18by one of my dad's colleagues. It is taken good care of and living19now. Every life deserves our acts of kindness. I was20that we helped the dog and made it have the chance to continue enjoying its life.

My mother has taught kindergarten for 39 years. She used to collect and wash old tennis balls. 1 my father drilled holes in each one.
