Little John invited his mother to attend his school's first teacher-parent meeting. To the little boy's 1 , she said she would go. This 2 be the first time that his classmates and teacher 3 his mother and he felt  4of her appearance. Although she was a beautiful woman, there was a severe scar that 5 nearly the entire right side of her face. The boy never wanted to 6 why or how she got the scar.

    At the meeting, the people were7by the kindness and natural beauty of his mother 8 the scar, but the little boy was still embarrassed and 9 himself from everyone. He did, however, get within 10 of a conversation between his mother and his teacher.

    The teacher asked 11 , “How did you get the scar on your face?”

    The mother replied, “ 12 my son was a baby, he was in a room that caught fire. Everyone was 13 afraid to go in because the fire was 14 , so I went in. As I was running toward his bed, I saw a long piece of wood coming down and I placed myself over him trying to protect him. I was knocked 15 but fortunately, a fireman came in and saved both of us.” She 16 the burned side of her face. “This scar will be 17 , but to this day, I have never 18what I did.”

    At this point, the little boy came out running toward his mother with tears in his eyes. He held her in his arms and felt a great 19 of the sacrifice（牺牲） that his mother had made for him. He held her hand 20 for the rest of the day.

    Jim and his brother lived on the 80th level. When coming home one day, to their 1, the lifts were not working and they had to 2the stairs.

    After reaching the 20th level, breathless and tired, they decided to3their bags and come back for them the next day. They climbed4. When they got to the 40th level, Jim's brother started to 5. However, they6to climb the flights of steps, arguing all the way to the 60th floor.

    They then 7that they only had 20 levels more to climb and decided to stop arguing and continue climbing8. They reached their home at long last. Each stood calmly before the door and waited for the other to9the door. And they realized that the10 were in their bags which were left on the 20th floor.

    This story is a reflection (反映) of our life. When 11, many of us are asked to do as our parents and teachers expect. We 12 get to do the things that we really like and love and are under too much pressure (压力) 13 by the age of 20, we get tired and decide to14 this load (负担).

    Once 15  of/ about the pressure, we work harder to realize our dreams. But by the time we reach 40 years old, we find it 16 to realize them and begin to feel unsatisfied and complain, and 17them. Reaching 60, we realize that we have18 cause for complaint anymore, and we begin to walk the final stage with19.

    So follow your dreams and20for them carefully, never complain and lose your key, and your dreams will come true one day.

    I started my travel business 6 years ago. I didn't have a1 budget, so I simply told everyone I was familiar with my business.2, I had got very few clients.

    Late one evening I received a call from a woman 3 about a cruise she had booked. I didn't 4 her voice so I asked her where she lived. She replied, “Montana.” I told her that I didn't have any clients in Montana and that she must have been 5. “Sir, I have your6 written down right here on my piece of paper,7 I must have booked it with you. Could you recheck it, please?” she 8 responded.9, she had my website but I wasn't her travel agent.

    I 10 her name, phone number and sailing information and told her I would call the cruise line and see 11 I could find out. She greatly 12_ my offer to help. The next day I called to tell her that I found out that one agency did have her 13and gave her its number. The woman was very 14 with the solution.     Several months later, much to my18 I got a call from the lady's sister from Montana, who wanted to get married on a cruise ship. That's just the beginning of the story. Learn to Meet Challenges

    My classmates called me "the alien", and they avoided me like the  plague（瘟疫）. As a young boy, I1from a serious skin disease, which filled my arms with scars. The true2of my condition, however, was social: I lived a life of loneliness.

    Doctors predicted（预言）that I would never fully recover, but my parents encouraged me to hope for the future, teaching me that my difficulty could be overcome. I therefore took a/an 3 role in fighting against my disease, trying many medications and herbs, and my health 4 greatly before I graduated（毕业）. I realized that my personal5had led to this improvement. I regained self­confidence and made many friends at school.

    When Pat Jones finished college, she decided to travel around the world and see as many foreign places as she could1she was young.
