Have you ever wondered whether where is life on Mars? The bog Red Planet is a mystery to us but {#blank#}1{#/blank#}(hope) not for much longer.

    On November 11, the Mars rover(漫步者){#blank#}2{#/blank#} (name) Curiosity started its journey into space. After eight months flying in a rocket, Curiosity covered more than 566 million kilometers and finally landed on Mars — according to BBC reports.

    The rover is there to find out {#blank#}3{#/blank#} there is, or ever was, life on the cold, desert-like planet.

    The place {#blank#}4{#/blank#} Curiosity landed is called Gale Crater, a huge hole on Mars. Scientists believe that there {#blank#}5{#/blank#}(be) once water and even life there.

    In order to do its job, Curiosity is packed with many {#blank#}6{#/blank#}(use) tools, though it is only three meters long, about the size of a small car.

    It has a robot arm that can collect soil and drill into rock. It also carries {#blank#}7{#/blank#} own laser gun. The gun can turn a small amount of rock into gas, so that Curiosity can study what the rock {#blank#}8{#/blank#}(make) up of.

    {#blank#}9{#/blank#} the help of these tools, Curiosity will act as a robot geologist. For the next two years, it will stay and travel inside Gale Crater,{#blank#}10{#/blank#} (collect) and studying rock and soil.

    Is there such a thing as being "over-protective"?

    I can honestly say that my answer to that question {#blank#}1{#/blank#} (change) dramatically（戏剧性地） since I became a parent.

    Before the birth of my daughter. I taught at {#blank#}2{#/blank#} private school often viewing my students as over-protected, worrying {#blank#}3{#/blank#} would happen when they went on to middle schools.

    Some did fine, and some did not. Some needed constant pats on the back, words of {#blank#}4{#/blank#} (encourage) and extra support, which I {#blank#}5{#/blank#} (happy) gave. Others were content on their own, needing little or no interaction（互动）with their teacher. {#blank#}6{#/blank#} for the most part, graduates would go on for higher schooling.

    I'd always supposed their parents were over-protective, for they were the ones that still walked their {#blank#}7{#/blank#} (five) graders into the classroom and met them at the school gate.

    Admittedly, I laughed at those parents, {#blank#}8{#/blank#} (think) their children would never learn to be {#blank#}9{#/blank#} (independence) if they didn't let go just a little. Then I had my own daughter. The moment I looked at her little face, I {#blank#}10{#/blank#} (know) I'd do everything in my power to protect her and make sure she always felt safe!

Audiences laughed at his jokes he made at the{#blank#}7{#/blank#} (begin) of his show. However, sometimes they laughed even{#blank#}8{#/blank#}(hard) at the jokes that failed. He was the most{#blank#}9{#/blank#}(power) performer (表演者) on television. Many comedians (喜剧演员) and singers became successful after{#blank#}10{#/blank#} (appear) on “The Tonight Show”.

    Chuck Wall teaches management and human relations at Bakersfield College. He walked into class one day and told his students that their homework was to perform a simple and random act of kindness. Not {#blank#}1{#/blank#} (understand) the homework, the students didn't know what to do. Chuck didn't answer their questions{#blank#}2{#/blank#} he encouraged his students to work it out by themselves.

    One week later, the students entered the classroom and began sharing their stories{#blank#}3{#/blank#} (excited). One reported on helping a poor dog {#blank#}4{#/blank#}(abandon) by its owner. Another student told others about giving blankets away to the homeless. Gradually, more and more students developed the habit of doing such kind acts, from{#blank#}5{#/blank#} they benefited a lot.

    Since then, similar kind acts{#blank#}6{#/blank#}(perform) in schools around the world. Many schools organize a. Random Acts of Kindness Week, around November 13^th{#blank#}7{#/blank#}(celebrate) World Kindness Day. Some schools use each day of Random Acts of Kindness Week to perform a {#blank#}8{#/blank#}(differ) kind act, such {#blank#}9{#/blank#}making a new friend, helping someone, doing community service or raising money for a charity. In this way, students learn to consider other people and think about how small actions can make the world a{#blank#}10{#/blank#} (good) place.
