Society even glorifies “burning the candle at both ends” as{#blank#}4{#/blank#}sign of our devotion to work and family.

    Believe it{#blank#}5{#/blank#}not, all this bad sleep has far-reaching consequences. We just do not give ourselves enough chances to sleep. A survey of over 74,000 people found 35 percent reported sleeping less than seven hours daily{#blank#}6{#/blank#}average. Furthermore, the amount of sleep{#blank#}7{#/blank#}(change) greatly over the past 15 years.

    This lack of sleep can lead of many serious{#blank#}8{#/blank#}(problem). One study found that{#blank#}9{#/blank#}(simple) limiting yourself to six hours of sleep a night for two weeks had similar effects to staying up all night the night before,{#blank#}10{#/blank#}could make you perform poorly on a timed attention task.

    Believe it or not, have you ever noticed that you feel happier and more relaxed after you eat bread, pasta or fruit? Do you find that you are more energetic and awake after eating yogurt or beans? These things are not accidents. Food affect {#blank#}1{#/blank#} we feel more than we think. Scientists researching {#blank#}2{#/blank#} (it) effect on our moods are beginning to understand that we can influence our feelings with what we eat.

    Although our moods relates {#blank#}3{#/blank#} having various foods, it is not quite as simple as choosing the foods for the right occasions. If that {#blank#}4{#/blank#} (be) the case, athletes would not eat a lot of carbohydrates before a race.

    Another chemical {#blank#}5{#/blank#} (connect) with our mood is caffeine, which {#blank#}6{#/blank#} (find) in coffee, chocolate and many types of tea, is perhaps {#blank#}7{#/blank#} worst thing you can have when you are feeling stressed.

    Of course, {#blank#}8{#/blank#} (enjoy) a nice meal with friends, whatever we eat, can also impact our spirits. Being with friends and family plays a big part in experiencing happiness.

    Tony and I are good friends. We tried to walk across the United States of America. We're not exactly sure{#blank#}1{#/blank#} we were doing it. Part of it was to test ourselves; to see if we could face the challenges. When I was{#blank#}2{#/blank#} teenager I often daydreamed that I was going to walk across the United States{#blank#}3{#/blank#} I graduated from high school.{#blank#}4{#/blank#} , I didn't do that. Before I knew it I was in my thirties, married,{#blank#}5{#/blank#} （have） a job, yet still had this idea in my mind with each{#blank#}6{#/blank#} （pass） year. I figured I was too old and my opportunity had passed. Then, a few years ago, I met Tony,{#blank#}7{#/blank#} was in his thirties and quit his job as a civil engineer in New York City to walk across the United States. He wasn't doing it for a cause{#blank#}8{#/blank#} as part of an organization. He was doing it{#blank#}9{#/blank#}（simple） because he loved to walk and discover. The idea was back and I no longer had an excuse. We planned on averaging 20miles a day and taking some days off to rest, so we expected the walk to take about 6months realizing it could take{#blank#}10{#/blank#} （long）. We were in no hurry: The total distance would have been about 3,100miles.

    TFK, a reporter from NEWS WEEKLY, is interviewing JACOB, a famous actor and singer.

    TFK: What made you get into music?

    JACOB: My family is very {#blank#}1{#/blank#}(music). My dad and uncles formed a music group. So when I was young, I was always looking up to them and watching them performing. At the age of 9, I started getting into the studio. Everything developed from there.

    TFK: Is there a player{#blank#}2{#/blank#}achievements you admire (羡慕)?

    JACOB: Right now, I would say Justin Timberlake. He really did well in the film and music.

    TFK: What other projects are you working on?

    JACOB: I am working on a record{#blank#}3{#/blank#}(call) This is Me: Volume 2. I{#blank#}4{#/blank#}(do) movies all year, because I want to{#blank#}5{#/blank#}(brief) show my fans my growth. I'm also in a movie called The Maze Runner,{#blank#}6{#/blank#} will come out next September.

    TFK: When you are not acting or studying, what do you like to do?

    JACOB: I love to eat service food on set. I was eating chocolate bars while {#blank#}7{#/blank#} (make) the film Black Nativity. I was eating so much{#blank#}8{#/blank#} they were making special food packages for me.

    TFK: By the way, what message do you think people will take away{#blank#}9{#/blank#}Black Nativity?

    JACOB: The true meaning of faith and the deep{#blank#}10{#/blank#}(devote) to one's family.

    Christopher Reeve was born in September, 1952. He was in his first school play {#blank#}1{#/blank#} he was eight and he started to act in TV shows and films while he was still in college. He made speeches all over the USA about his experiences. This not only drew public attention to research into back injuries but also encouraged a lot of people {#blank#}10{#/blank#} (live) with all kinds of problems.
