Chinese President Xi Jinping has praised a group of middle school students for their efforts in satellite design. He said he was pleased with their curiosity and bravery in {#blank#}1{#/blank#}(science) exploration. The president also wished the teachers and students in Bayi School {#blank#}2{#/blank#}happy new year.

    Xi made the praise in a letter {#blank#}3{#/blank#}(write) to the students in Beijing's Bayi School on Saturday. A small satellite designed and developed by them {#blank#}4{#/blank#}(send) into space last Wednesday at Taiyuan Satellite Launch Center {#blank#}5{#/blank#} it was designed to operate in orbit (轨道) for 180 days.

    Three months ago, Xi returned to his high school, to visit a laboratory and talk to teachers and students {#blank#}6{#/blank#}were designing the small satellite. The president said he was {#blank#}7{#/blank#} (extreme) glad to know that the satellite designed by the students would be launched and called on them to become {#blank#}8{#/blank#}(build) of the country. Xi warmly encouraged the students {#blank#}9{#/blank#}(study) science and contribute to the development of China. He hoped that the students would keep hungry for knowledge and develop {#blank#}10{#/blank#}(they) national spirit.

    Two new satellites of the BeiDou Navigation (导航)Satellite System (BDS){#blank#}1{#/blank#}(send)into space on a Long March﹣3B carrier rocket from the Xichang Satellite Launch Center in Sichuan Province, China at 2:07 a. m. on November 19, 2018. The satellites entered a Medium Earth orbit {#blank#}2{#/blank#}(safe) more than three hours later and will work with 17other BDS﹣3satellites already in space. They are also the 42nd and 43rd {#blank#}3{#/blank#}(member) of the BDS satellite family.

    China launched these satellites with {#blank#}4{#/blank#} aim of providing navigation services for countries and regions which participate in the Belt and Road Initiative (倡议) by the end of 2018. "This is a key step for BDS developing {#blank#}5{#/blank#}a Chinese experimental system to a regional and then a {#blank#}6{#/blank#}(globe) navigation system," said Yang Changfeng, chief designer of the BeiDou system. The positioning {#blank#}7{#/blank#}(accurate) of the BDS﹣3system has been improved to 2.5 meters to 5 meters, said Yang.

    {#blank#}8{#/blank#}( name) after the Chinese term for the Plough, the BeiDou system has been serving China for 18 years {#blank#}9{#/blank#}another six BDS﹣3satellites will be put into the Medium Earth orbits from 2019to 2020. The system is expected {#blank#}10{#/blank#}(provide) first﹣class services around the globe by the end of 2020.
