    Would you like to explore (开发) the oceans?Do you want to find more life than we imagine there?For Jacques Cousteau, the answer was "yes". His career was a life-long dream, and he is probably the most famous ocean scientist in recent times.

    Cousteau was born in France in 1910. Even as a child, he loved water. Cousteau was bright, but he got bored with school and began to cause trouble. {#blank#}1{#/blank#}. There, Cousteau finally felt challenged. He studied hard and did well in all his courses. In 1933, he served as a general officer in the French Navy. {#blank#}2{#/blank#}. He worked on a breathing machine to stay under water longer. It was finished in 1943.

    In 1948, Cousteau became a captain, and he had new duties. Even so, he continued to explore the oceans. Two years later, he became the president of the French Oceanographic Campaigns. He also bought a ship to help with his dives. {#blank#}3{#/blank#}. To do that, he produced many films and published(出版)a number of books. His films include "The Silent World (1956)", "World without Sun(1966)". One of his books is "The Living Sea (1963)".

    {#blank#}4{#/blank#}. Its work was to further oceanic research and to encourage people to help protect the oceans and the life within them.

    Cousteau won many honors for his work, including the Medal of Freedom and membership in the French Academy in 1989.

A. Cousteau was interested in fishing

B. In 1974, he founded the Cousteau Society

C. But he needed a way to get money for his trips

D. His parents sent him to a strict boarding school

E. He also began to explore the life under the water

根据短文内容,从短文后的选项中选出能填入空白处的最佳选项。选项中有一项为多余选项。

A. Try getting a group of friends or family together.

B. This could be fast walking or cycling on a flat road.

C. Regular activity benefits your health in many ways.

D. You should get more exercise and eat less to keep fit.

E. Joining a sports club is a cheap way of getting exercise.

F. Many of us spend seven hours or more just sitting on a chair each day.

    How much physical activity do you do in a week? Are you getting enough exercise?{#blank#}1{#/blank#} For example, people who exercise regularly are less likely to suffer from many diseases. Regular exercise reduces the risk of early death by 30%. It also improves your sleep quality.

    Today, most adults are much less active than in the past because our jobs are far less physical than the work our grandparents used to do. {#blank#}2{#/blank#} This lack of regular physical activity means people burn fewer calories than in the past, so we need to do something to consume (消耗) our energy. Experts think adults need to do 2. 5 hours of moderate exercise per week. {#blank#}3{#/blank#}

    Exercise can be expensive, but it doesn't have to be. Team sports such as football can be cheap because all the players share the cost of the field. {#blank#}4{#/blank#} It can also be very social.

    If you don't want to spend any money, try one of the following activities. Go for a run. The only equipment you need is a pair of running shoes. If you take the bus, try getting off one stop early and walking the extra distance. Go to the park. {#blank#}5{#/blank#} You can play different kinds of games there. This is a great way to involve family members and friends.

    In short, there are many easy ways of keeping fit. If we all recognize the value of doing this, we will live longer and be healthier.

下面文章中有五处需要添加首句。请从以下选项(A、B、C、D、E和F)中选出符合各段意思的首句。选项中有一项是多余选项。

Should We Keep Animals In Zoos?

    Zoos are popular places in communities around the world. They're places where people can learn about wild animals by seeing them up close. Some people  though, believe zoos aren't good for animals. They think wild animals should only live in the wild.

    {#blank#}1{#/blank#}

    Wild animals have been kept in cages for thousands years. Over time, people began speaking out about the practice of keeping animals in zoos. The rise of animal rights movement and groups have led many to question whether or not zoos are right.

   {#blank#}2{#/blank#}

    Zoos provide care for animals that they wouldn't receive in the wild. Animals are fed a healthy diet in zoos. Also, zoos have veterinarians who provide medical care for hurt or sick animals that would often be left to die in the wild. In some cases, zoos help animals to live longer.

   {#blank#}3{#/blank#}

    Though many animals live longer in zoos, some mammals live longer in the wild. Elephants live near twice as long in the wild as they do in zoos. Scientists believe the causes for this include elephants in zoos becoming stressed and depressed when they are forced to live in small spaces.

   {#blank#}4{#/blank#}

    It may seem like a good thing that zoos set animals back into the wild, but there are often problems with this practice. Zoo animals don't learn hunting skills since they are fed by zookeepers. They also have no idea to stay away from predators, cars or hunters in the wild.

   {#blank#}5{#/blank#}

    How much do zoos actually teach people about animals? A 2014 study showed that only 1000 out of 3000 children who visited a zoo learned something new. Groups such as PETA believe the biggest thing children learnt at zoos is that it's fine to keep animals in cages instead of in the wild.

A. Unable to go back

B. Caring for animals

C. Animals in the world

D. Spiritual problems

E. Rise of animal rights

F. The wrong lessons
