Journey to the Center of the Earth spoke of a trip to the centre of the earth through a volcano in Iceland. When Professor Otto Lindenbrock，his nephew and the guide they hired {#blank#}1{#/blank#}(reach) the volcano， they journeyed underground through a small cave. After many days， they came to a vast room {#blank#}2{#/blank#}a large ocean inside. The three men built a small boat and set sail.{#blank#}3{#/blank#} (sudden)， two dinosaurs rose to the surface and began to fight each other. The small boat was almost sunk by the dinosaurs {#blank#}4{#/blank#}they were able to get away.

They sailed to shore and explored the forest. They came across huge insects and many strange {#blank#}5{#/blank#}(creature). As they were wandering around， they noticed a man sitting against a tree in the {#blank#}6{#/blank#}(distant)—he was at least four meters tall. The men became afraid， and ran back to the boat.

The boat floated down with the water {#blank#}7{#/blank#} they could only hold on to the boat in terror. Finally， they reached the bottom of the hole. Then the water began to push them up. They floated upwards for miles. The water rushed beneath them， {#blank#}8{#/blank#}(push) them out into the sunlight. They now found {#blank#}9{#/blank#}(they) in a volcano in Italy—their adventure was over，but a new one was about {#blank#}10{#/blank#}(begin).

    One day, about ten years ago, while working at the cash register (收银机) in the gift shop at my University Museum of Natural History, I saw {#blank#}1{#/blank#} elderly couple come in {#blank#}2{#/blank#} a little girl in a wheelchair. As I looked closer at this girl, I found that she was {#blank#}3{#/blank#} (fix) on her chair. I then realized she had no arms {#blank#}4{#/blank#} legs, just a head, a neck and upper body, dressed in a little white skirt. As the couple wheeled her up to me, I turned my head toward the girl.     On October 23, 2018，President Xi Jinping announced the opening of  the Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macao Bridge (HZMB) at an opening ceremony in Zhuhai, Guangdong province.

    The HZMB, {#blank#}1{#/blank#} (locate) at the waters of the Lingdingyang of Pearl River Estuary, is a huge sea crossing, linking Hong Kong and Macao to the Chinese mainland city of Zhuhai. As the world's {#blank#}2{#/blank#} (long) sea-based project, the 55-kilometre bridge is the result of five years of research and another nine years of building. It has been described as one of the “seven {#blank#}3{#/blank#} (wonder) of the modern world” by the Guardian.

    The project{#blank#}4{#/blank#} (make) up of a 22.9-kilometer-long main bridge, a 6.7-kilometer-long tunnel and an artificial island off the bridge. It is designed with {#blank#}5{#/blank#} service life of 120 years. It can withstand a strong wind equal {#blank#}6{#/blank#} a maximum Beaufort scale 16. The bridge's engineers had to consider many environmental factors to protect the {#blank#}7{#/blank#} (surround) environment while building the bridge. Chinese white dolphins, an endangered species that lives in the area, {#blank#}8{#/blank#} (be) a particular concern.

    The HZMB will make {#blank#}9{#/blank#} much more convenient to travel between the three areas it connects. It will bring people in Hong Kong, Macao and Guangdong within a “one-hour living circle”, {#blank#}10{#/blank#}is expected to attract more visitors to the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area. It will be a transport link as well as a social, economic, cultural, and tourism connection among the three areas.

    The man who is going to fix our roof must be {#blank#}1{#/blank#}(honest) person my husband and I have ever met.

    My husband knew the back roof of the porch was fine and wanted {#blank#}2{#/blank#}(see) what this roofer would say when he gave his estimate. He told my husband that the back roof was just fine and then gave the estimate for the rest of the roof:$2,400.

    The roofer doesn't know our decision that he'll get the $3,000.He's honest and is planning to be responsible for the mistake. My boss was kind to me when I made some {#blank#}10{#/blank#}(mistake) in the past and now I get a chance to pass this on to others.
