The American travel website company TripAdvisor publishes a list of the world's best beaches every year. Today, we are going to explore some of this year's top beaches in the world.

⒈Baia do Sancho, Brazil

It is named as this year's best beach in the world. Its water is calm and clear. Its sand is fine and soft. But getting to Baia do Sancho is not so easy. It is on Fernando de Noronha, a volcanic(火山的) island more than 300 kilometers off Brazil's coast. Travelers must take a plane or boat from major cities in northern Brazil to get there. And no more than 420 visitors can be on the island at one time.

⒉Grace Bay, Turks and Caicos

While Baia do Sancho is difficult to get to, TripAdvisor's second-ranked beach could not be much easier for tourists to reach.

This beach has impossibly clean and clear waters and pure white sand. Its calm waters make it extremely safe for swimming, or simply floating. Once on land, many visitors enjoy walking barefoot for several kilometers on the soft, warm sand.

⒊Eagle Beach, Aruba

To get to the third-best beach, we head south to the Dutch Caribbean island of Aruba. Like Grace Bay, Eagle Beach has clear, calm waters and soft white sand.

It offers visitors a chance to try different water sports, including tubing and jet skiing. Eagle Beach may be best known, however, for its dramatic sunsets. On clear nights, the sky turns red, orange, and purple.

⒋Playa Paraiso, Cuba

The fourth-best beach is Playa Paraiso, an island off Cuba's southern coast. It has a fun, laid-back restaurant for those who wish to eat and drink. There is little else on the beach. And that is exactly what visitors like about it. People come here for the sugar-like sand and calm waters filled with colorful wildlife.

(1)、Which of the following is true about Baia do Sancho?
A、It receives thousands of visitors each time. B、It can only be visited by plane. C、It is near the Brazil's coast. D、It is hard to reach.
(2)、Where can visitors go if they want to enjoy the beauty of the sinking sun?
A、Baia do Sancho, Brazil. B、Grace Bay, Turks and Caicos. C、Eagle Beach, Aruba. D、Playa Paraiso, Cuba.
(3)、What can visitors mainly do on Playa Paraiso, Cuba?
A、Go boating. B、Have a relaxing dinner. C、Admire the colorful sand. D、Try different water sports.

You have probably been told by your high school instructor that writing is an important and practical skill. However, you may not be convinced that the ability to write will be important in your own future. If so, you will be surprised at the results of a recent survey by the National Institute of Education. More than four thousand working men and women who had graduated fifteen years earlier were asked to name the courses they would have taken in college if they had known better. The designer of the survey expected people to name courses in computer science, mathematics, or business. But the course most often mentioned was writing.

If you already have a job, you are probably not surprised at their answers. Many jobs require the ability to write. Despite the increasing use of the telephone and the computer, much information must be communicated in writing. Some ten million people—managers, engineers, sales representatives, and many others— write regularly as part of their jobs. Summaries, reports, reports, letters and speeches are required in today's work world. The ability to write, therefore, is an important skill. The successful individual is almost always the one who can communicate successfully in writing.

Writing communicates your thoughts and feelings to others; it also tells you something about yourself. Maybe this is what Eldridge Cleaver had in mind in his autobiography, “I started to write... to save myself...I had to seek out the truth... I had to find out who I am and what I want to be ,what type of man I should be ,and what I could do to become the best of which I was capable.”

Arriving in Sydney on his own from India, my husband, Rashid, stayed in a hotel for a short time while looking for a house for me and our children.

During the first week of his stay, he went out one day to do some shopping. He came back in the late afternoon to discover that his suitcase was gone. He was extremely worried as the suitcase had all his important papers, including his passport(护照).

He reported the case to the police and then sat there, lost and lonely in strange city, thinking of the terrible troubles of getting all the paperwork organized again from a distant country while trying to settle down in a new one.

Late in the evening, the phone rang. It was a stranger. He was trying to pronounce my husband's name and was asking him a lot of questions. Then he said they had found a pile of papers in their trash can(垃圾桶) that had been left out on the footpath.

My husband rushed to their home to find a kind family holding all his papers and documents(文件). Their young daughter had gone to the trash can and found a pile of unfamiliar papers. Her parents had carefully sorted them out, although they had found mainly foreign addresses on most of the documents. At last they had seen a half-written letter in the pile in which my husband had given his new telephone number to a friend.

That family not only restored the important documents to us that day but also restored our faith and trust in people. We still remember their kindness and often send a warm wish their way.

You discover a shampoo that leaves your hair looking beautiful. But gradually, as you use it more, it's magical effects seem to disappear. "It's just your hair getting used to it, "your mom says. And so you put the shampoo away and look for your next wonder product.

It sort of makes sense -why would something that left you looking nice at first suddenly start losing its effect after some time? Are there some other factors(因素)at play? Can your hair really get used to a certain shampoo?

Marie Claire spoke to hair experts and it turns out that it's not true. Your hair cannot get so used to a product that it just stops working.

So what is the deal? Cynthia Alvarez, a famous hair stylist, explained that there are a number of factors leading to your hair puzzle, but basically, it's not the shampoo. "A shampoo does not stop working because your hair get used to it, she said." If your shampoo stops giving you the results you want, the condition and needs of your hair have most likely changed, or the season may have changed -it's more humid(in $), the sun is stronger, or the air is drier. Your state of health may also be different from a recent illness.

In other words, you need to give up blaming the shampoo. So what can you do to make your hair look beautiful for a little longer? Alvarez suggests changing your ways of hair care when factors, such as the weather, change. Experts also suggest keeping an eye on the amount of shampoo and conditioner(H%i )you're using because over conditioning can be bad for your hair.

Tiredness, coughing, a runny nose and a sore throat—among all sicknesses there is probably none more common than the flu (流感), which we all get now and then. However, bird flu is a completely different story.

In 2003, the H5N1 bird flu swept across 15 countries, including China, with sufferers reporting chest pain, difficulty breathing, fever and severe coughing. More than 600 people were infected, and about 60 percent died. Now, another type of bird flu hit Shanghai and three neighboring provinces, and this time the virus is called H7N9. By the afternoon of April 11, the new virus had taken nine lives out of 35 infected, according to Xinhua News Agency.

The "H" and "N" in the virus' name refer to two kinds of proteins (蛋白质) on the surface of the virus. Any change of the numbers of the two proteins indicates a new mutation(变异). Most of the mutations only affect birds, such as chickens and pigeons, and don't normally spread to humans. But once they do, the results can be disastrous.

"Any time an animal influenza virus crosses to humans, it is a cause for concern, " Malik Peiris, virologist (病毒学家) at the University of Hong Kong, told Nature magazine. Take the SARS epidemic (传染病) in 2003 as an example. The virus behind the disease is thought to have jumped to humans from animals. The virus was a complete "stranger" to human bodies, which hadn't developed an immunity (免疫力) against it.

But there is something more about the new H7N9 bird flu. Unlike the H5N1 bird flu, which causes severe sickness in birds, the H7N9 has been evolving under the radar(悄悄地) since it travels between birds without causing noticeable illness. That makes it difficult to keep track of the disease.

The good news is that there's so far no sign that the virus is spreading from person to person. But since there is no vaccine (疫苗) for the disease yet, the World Health Organization recommends that you wash your hands after meeting with sick people and before and after you eat or prepare food, and they also suggest avoiding contact with birds or their eggs.
