Thousands of people were attracted to a 2-meter-wide lane in Tongcheng, Anhui province this spring festival. Although {#blank#}1{#/blank#}was impossible to count the exact number, at least 5,000 people visited it each day.

    This narrow lane,{#blank#}2{#/blank#} (call)Liuchi Lane in Chinese, won greater popularity after the story behind it was broadcast on a CCTV show. At first glance it may seem unimportant, but to those{#blank#}3{#/blank#}know its history, Liuchi Lane means much more than its {#blank#}4{#/blank#} (appear). In the early Qing Dynasty it served{#blank#}5{#/blank#}the boundary between Zhang family and Wu family. They quarreled{#blank#}6{#/blank#}(fierce)over which family had the right to build a wall on the dividing line. After {#blank#}7{#/blank#}(fail) to make a compromise, the Zhangs turned to Zhang Ying, a family member of Zhangs and also a top official in the emperor's court. To {#blank#}8{#/blank#}(they)surprise, Zhang Ying did not provide the support they needed. He called for his family to step back I meter from the boundary. Seeing that, the Wus {#blank#}9{#/blank#} (agree)to move back another meter, thus Liuchi lane was born.

    In reality, the story of Liuchi Lane is not only about how to get along with others, {#blank#}10{#/blank#}also a guideline for all the officials in China.

    It's true that mother loved the tulip. But this kind of love must be {#blank#}10{#/blank#}(harm).

    Too much love can sometimes kill what you love.

To the Tang Dynasty , it was{#blank#}5{#/blank#} (official) appointed{#blank#}6{#/blank#}the folk festival , and then it's followed so far. Nine also means Long in Chinese words. It's the Chinese Festival for the Elderly, {#blank#}7{#/blank#}reflects（反应）our behavior of respecting, caring , loving and helping the old. It's also a method to promote communication with the elderly well. It is in1989 {#blank#}8{#/blank#}Chinese put annual Sept.9 as the Festival for the Elderly, cleverly {#blank#}9{#/blank#} (combine) tradition and modernity.     On October 23^rd, 2018，President Xi Jinping announced the opening of the Hong Kong– Zhuhai-Macao Bridge (HZMB) at an opening ceremony in Zhuhai, Guangdong province.

    The HZMB,{#blank#}1{#/blank#} (locate) at the waters of the Lingdingyang of Pearl River Estuary, is a huge sea crossing, linking Hong Kong and Macao to the Chinese mainland city of Zhuhai. As the world's{#blank#}2{#/blank#}(long) sea-based project, the 55-kilometre bridge is the result of five years of research and another nine years of building. It has been described as one of the “seven{#blank#}3{#/blank#}(wonder) of the modern world” by the Guardian.

    The project{#blank#}4{#/blank#}(make) up of a 22.9-kilometer-long main bridge, a 6.7-kilometer-long tunnel and an artificial island off the bridge. It is designed with {#blank#}5{#/blank#}service life of 120 years. It can withstand a strong wind equal{#blank#}6{#/blank#} a maximum Beaufort scale 16. The bridge's engineers had to consider many environmental factors to protect the{#blank#}7{#/blank#}(surround) environment while building the bridge. Chinese white dolphins, an endangered species that lives in the area,{#blank#}8{#/blank#} (be) a particular concern.

    The HZMB will make{#blank#}9{#/blank#}much more convenient to travel between the three areas it connects. It will bring people in Hong Kong, Macao and Guangdong within a “one-hour living circle”,{#blank#}10{#/blank#}is expected to attract more visitors to the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area. It will be a transport link as well as a social, economic, cultural, and tourism connection among the three areas.
