People nowadays can hardly imagine what Jewish people went through during World War Ⅱ. It was just because they were Jewish{#blank#}1{#/blank#}Anne and her family had to hide away, or they would be{#blank#}2{#/blank#}(catch) by the German Nazis.

    Anne hadn't been able to be outdoors for{#blank#}3{#/blank#}long a time that she had grown crazy{#blank#}4{#/blank#}everything to do with nature.

    For example, when it was warm, she stayed{#blank#}5{#/blank#}(wake)on purpose until half past eleven one evening in order to have a look at the moon for once by{#blank#}6{#/blank#}(her). But as the moon gave far too much light, she didn't dare open a window. And another time, she happened{#blank#}7{#/blank#}(be) upstairs one evening when the window was open. She didn't go downstairs{#blank#}8{#/blank#}the window had to be shut. The dark,{#blank#}9{#/blank#} (rain) evening, the wind, the thundering clouds held her entirely in their power. It was the first time in a year and a half that she{#blank#}10{#/blank#}(see) the night face to face.

    Our local Community Youth Club is a very popular{#blank#}1{#/blank#}(organize) with young people in my town. We've taken part{#blank#}2{#/blank#}lots of projects.{#blank#}3{#/blank#}, we've also started doing social work to help in{#blank#}4{#/blank#}(we) neighborhood. We're particularly proud of the recent project. We paid{#blank#}5{#/blank#}visit to the local people's home,{#blank#}6{#/blank#}we sang songs and played games with the elderly. After this visit, we made a decision{#blank#}7{#/blank#}(help) improve the quality of their lives. Up to now,{#blank#}8{#/blank#} (probable) over twenty volunteers{#blank#}9{#/blank#}(join) us. Everyone finds the experience{#blank#}10{#/blank#}(offer) by our local Community Youth Club rich and rewarding.

    We think that life in Chinese high school is an adventure in which we have to survive mountains of homework and all kinds of exams. Yet would it be{#blank#}1{#/blank#}(surprise) if I tell you that high school life in the US is almost as stressful and demanding as it is in China?

    In US high school, everything{#blank#}2{#/blank#}(record) into your studying document, including your grades on quizzes, tests and final examinations. Failing{#blank#}3{#/blank#}(turn) in your homework on time will directly affect your grade for a certain course. Perhaps contrary to{#blank#}4{#/blank#}we used to think of the US high school students, they pay more attention to their{#blank#}5{#/blank#}(academy) performance to try to get into a distinguished university.{#blank#}6{#/blank#}, they'll be disappointed after graduation from high school.

    Like university students, US high school students have the{#blank#}7{#/blank#}(free) to choose the courses that most interest{#blank#}8{#/blank#}(they). Even a ninth grader can sit{#blank#}9{#/blank#}the same classroom as twelfth graders. But this also means he or she has to work very hard, because the teacher will not treat him or her differently just because he or she is a few years{#blank#}10{#/blank#}(young).

    Nearly all of us have dreamed about winning the big prize in a lottery(彩票). We dream about {#blank#}1{#/blank#} we would do with the money, but we seldom stop to think about how the money would change us.

    For most of us, our way of life is {#blank#}2{#/blank#} (close) connected with our social economy. The different parts of {#blank#}3{#/blank#} lives fit together like a jigsaw(拼板) — work, home, friends, hobbies and sports make up our world.  A sudden fortune would change it all and break the jigsaw. For example, some people like the idea {#blank#}4{#/blank#} not having to work, but winners have found that without work there is no reason to get up in the morning. It seems great {#blank#}5{#/blank#} (move) to a bigger house in a wealthy area, {#blank#}6{#/blank#} if you do that, you leave old friends behind.

    Usually, winners {#blank#}7{#/blank#} (advise) not to make their addresses and phone numbers known, but begging letters still arrive. {#blank#}8{#/blank#} they are not careful, most of their money will be spent {#blank#}9{#/blank#} the {#blank#}10{#/blank#} (protect) of their possessions(财产).

    To me, the most beautiful thing is the ocean. It is beautiful because it has a calming effect. When {#blank#}1{#/blank#} (listen) to the sound of the waves, I feel peaceful. {#blank#}2{#/blank#} the age of 10, I went to the beach for the first time. With my feet in the water, I felt totally relaxed, and the sound of the ocean really {#blank#}3{#/blank#} (comfort) me. From then on, I often dream of floating in the ocean, feeling carefree.
