    Some students preper to consider majors first so that they can learn {#blank#}3{#/blank#} they are interested in. It will also make {#blank#}4{#/blank#} possible for them to take their favourite jobs in the future. However, those who think {#blank#}5{#/blank#} (different) believe that the environment is important to one's {#blank#}6{#/blank#} (develop) and that graduates from leading universities are often more likely {#blank#}7{#/blank#}  (find) a good job.

    In my opinion, the best choice is a good major at a good university. If we cannot obtain {#blank#}8{#/blank#}, the first thing to consider is a good major, because no matter {#blank#}9{#/blank#} we study, we can still achieve a lot in {#blank#}10{#/blank#} certain field if we try our best.

    Li Daiyu and her cousin Liu Qian were on a trip to Canada to visit their cousins on the Atlantic coast. Rather than take the plane all the way, they {#blank#}1{#/blank#}（plan）to fly to Vancouver and then take the train from west to east across Canada. The thought that they could cross the whole continent was {#blank#}2{#/blank#}(excite).

    Canada is the second biggest country in the world. People say Vancouver is Canada's most beautiful city {#blank#}3{#/blank#}(surround)by mountains and the Pacific Ocean. On the coast north of Vancouver, it is so wet there that the trees are extremely tall.

    That afternoon aboard the train, the cousins settled down in their {#blank#}4{#/blank#}(seat). Their next stop was Calgary,{#blank#}5{#/blank#} is famous for the Calgary Stampede. They know that cowboys come from all over the world {#blank#}6{#/blank#}(compete)in the Stampede. Many cowboys have a gift {#blank#}7{#/blank#} riding wild horses. They also learned that most Canadians live within a few hundred kilometers of the USA border and that Canada's population is only {#blank#}8{#/blank#}(slight)over thirty million, but now they {#blank#}9{#/blank#}(amaze)to see such an empty country. Then they arrived in {#blank#}10{#/blank#}urban area, the busy port city of Thunder Bay at the top of the Great Lakes.

    {#blank#}1{#/blank#} it was autumn, the snow was already beginning to fall in Tibet. Our legs were so heavy and cold that {#blank#}2{#/blank#} felt like big blocks of ice. Have you ever seen snowmen ride bicycles? That's what we looked like! Along the way children who {#blank#}3{#/blank#} (dress) in long wool coats stopped to look at us. In the late afternoon we found it was so cold that our water bottles froze. However, the lakes {#blank#}4{#/blank#} (shine) like glass in the setting sun and looked wonderful. Wang Wei rode in front of me as usual. She was {#blank#}5{#/blank#} high spirit and I knew I didn't need to encourage her. To climb the mountains was hard work but as we  looked around us, we were surprised by the view. We seemed to be able to see for miles, and we were {#blank#}6{#/blank#} high that we found ourselves cycling through clouds. After {#blank#}7{#/blank#} while, we began going down the mountains. It was great fun especially as it slowly became much {#blank#}8{#/blank#}(warm). At the foot of the mountains, colorful butterflies flew around us and we saw many sheep {#blank#}9{#/blank#}(eat) green grass. Then we had to  change our caps, gloves and trousers {#blank#}10{#/blank#} T-shirts and shorts.

    All China's major cities have good transport{#blank#}1{#/blank#}(network). There are the tour buses, mini buses, taxis, as well as public buses,

    Buses in Chinese towns are always{#blank#}2{#/blank#}(crowd). The fare depends on distance, and is payable to the{#blank#}3{#/blank#}(conduct) of buses.

    A taxi is often {#blank#}4{#/blank#}most convenient means of travel in the City. They are available at airports, railway stations and hotels and even in urban areas. The total fare depends on the starting meter price{#blank#}5{#/blank#}can range from 5 to 12 yuan, and the distance. Extra fees{#blank#}6{#/blank#}(charge) for waiting and low speed driving during traffic jams. If you take a taxi after 11 pm, a 20 percent surcharge applies over the basic fare.

    The minibus is a compromise between the{#blank#}7{#/blank#} (relative) expensive taxis and full public transport. Their charge is a little more than that of the bus, about 2 yuan or more{#blank#}8{#/blank#} (depend) on distance, but it is very convenient, because it can stop{#blank#}9{#/blank#} any point you want along the route.

    Tour buses, normally {#blank#}10{#/blank#} (equip) with air conditioning and TV, are managed by travel agencies, hotels and airports and provided for short tours, A tour guide is usually present on such buses.

    After four years of living here, I have a better {#blank#}1{#/blank#}(understand) of northern China's food.  

    Northern China's hearty food is {#blank#}2{#/blank#}(general) more acceptable to Westerners. They can enjoy Beijing roast duck, beef and dairy from Inner Mongolia, and Korean dishes in the northeast. Northern China experiences cold and dry winters, and hot summers, {#blank#}3{#/blank#}(make) calories and salt replacement more important. As a result, northern dishes have strong flavors, compared with the south {#blank#}4{#/blank#} dishes are lighter in flavor.  

    Wheat is the main crop of northern China, and you will find a variety of wheat-flour {#blank#}5{#/blank#}(product). Rice is also eaten in the north, but it is certainly secondary to wheat. Dumplings are very popular in the north, {#blank#}6{#/blank#}(serve) with vinegar for dipping.  

    Northerners tend to eat more meat and dairy for the purpose {#blank#}7{#/blank#} fighting against the cold weather. Most meat dishes {#blank#}8{#/blank#}(base) on mutton, pork, beef,  chicken,  and fish.  

    {#blank#}9{#/blank#} are less fresh vegetables available because of the cold weather. Fruit is traditionally limited to a few hard seasonal varieties like apples, so it doesn't feature much in the cuisine, although the northwest is famous for {#blank#}10{#/blank#}(it) dried fruit and wine.  

There are many kinds of festivals throughout the world. Festivals {#blank#}1{#/blank#}(hold) to satisfy and please the ancestors, to honour some famous people {#blank#}2{#/blank#} important events, and to express people's gratitude to the God for bringing {#blank#}3{#/blank#} a year of plenty. For example, Japanese observe Obon, people go to clean graves and light incense {#blank#}4{#/blank#} memory of their ancestors. In India. October 2 is a national festival{#blank#}5{#/blank#} (honour) Mohandas Gandhi. who helped India become an {#blank#}6{#/blank#} (depend) country.  And in China the Spring Festival, {#blank#}7{#/blank#} is celebrated in January or February, is{#blank#}8{#/blank#}most energetic and important festival because it is a festival that {#blank#}9{#/blank#} (look) forward to the coming of spring. Why are all these festivals everywhere？Because during the festivals, people can get together to eat, drink and have fun with each other, {#blank#}10{#/blank#} (forget) all the daily struggles and demands for a while.
