Halloween is an autumn holiday that Americans celebrate every year. It means "holy evening," and it comes every October 31st, the evening before All Saints' Day. However, it is not really a church holiday, it is a holiday for children mainly.

     Every autumn, when the vegetables are ready to eat, children pick large orange pumpkins. Then they cut faces in the pumpkins and put a burning candle inside. It looks as if there were a person looking out of the pumpkin! These lights are called jack-o'-lanterns, which means "Jack of the lantern".

     The children also put on strange masks and frightening costumes every Halloween. Some children paint their faces to look like monsters. Then they carry boxes or bags from house to house. Every time they come to a new house, they say,"Trick or treat! Money or eat!" The grown-ups put treat-money or candy in their bags.

     Not only children, but most grown-ups also love Halloween and Halloween parties because on this day,they can disguise themselves as personages or ghost as their imaginations will lead them. This bring them the satisfaction of being young.

    My name is Jim. My favourite day is August l8th, because it's my birthday. I am very happy on that day. I eat eggs for breakfast. Then my friends come to my home and play with me. We sing and dance. Someone plays the piano and someone plays the guitar. Lunch is very nice. After lunch, my parents take me to see a movie. My favouritemovies are comedies and action movies. After dinner, my parents, my sister and I watch TV. Then I go to bed at ten thirty. I don't do my homework on that day. I am very tired but happy on my birthday.

    Tim's mother is ill. She has a fever. She is in bed. Tim is with his mother. He has to look after(照料) his mother. He can't go to school. Tim's classmate, Dick is very nice. He comes to help Tim with his homework with his deskmate, Mary.

    Today my friends and I are all on the playground. Look! Sally is running. Mike and Sam are swimming in the swimming pool. Jim is skating next to the swimming pool. Tom and John are playing table tennis. Bill and his brother are playing tennis. Kate and her sister are playing volleyball. Sarah is doing the high jump. Ken is doing the long jump. Linlin is doing kung fu. Where am I? I'm reading an interesting book under the tree. We are all happy.

    Lisa's weekend was so great. She worked as a guide at the nature museum. There was a butterfly(蝴蝶) house with over 200 kinds of butterflies in it. How interesting! She told the visitors about their living habits(生活习惯). But she was a little tired because she stayed up late to watch the football game last night.

My friends Amy is a beautiful girl. She often does morning exercises on the weekend. She sometimes goes on a picnic with her friends. She likes swimming so much. So her favorite season is summer. She can go swimming every day. And she can also eat her favorite food ice cream and plays games with her friends on summer vacation. But her brother Tom doesn't like summer. He likes winter best, because he likes playing in the snow and making a snowman all the time. His birthday is in December. Everyone has their own favorite season. So which season do you like best?
