Art has always been my favorite {#blank#}1{#/blank#} because it allows me to do my favorite bobby. I still remember when I was young, I would always paint on books, pieces of paper and walls. But now in school, there are only four art lessons {#blank#}2{#/blank#} week. I notice that every lesson seems to {#blank#}3{#/blank#} quickly because I lose myself in my artwork. Drawing takes me to a wonderful world.

I love drawing so much that whenever I have time between classes, I find myself drawing something. I have spent so much time {#blank#}4{#/blank#} my skills that even my classmates are often surprised. But I never talk with too much pride about my {#blank#}5{#/blank#} and I am always thankful for their praise. 

I especially enjoy drawing cartoons because I can just shut off my {#blank#}6{#/blank#} and let my creativity run {#blank#}7{#/blank#} like a horse. Once in a while, I draw things that even surprise myself. Some are pretty, while others are {#blank#}8{#/blank#} that should not be seen by the teachers. They are only for my classmates. 

So, I must say that I always feel {#blank#}9{#/blank#} when I am drawing something enjoyable. For me, drawing is a natural way to {#blank#}10{#/blank#} myself. It allows me to follow my instincts (直觉) easily and lets my feelings guide my hand. 

Greenland is the largest island in the world. It's in the northeast of North America. Near Greenland is another island. It's small. Its name is Iceland. Do you think that Greenland is green and warm? Do you think that Iceland is white with ice? If you do, you're wrong. That is because most of Greenland is covered with lots of ice. The ice is higher than the world's tallest building. There are more people in your hometown than those in Greenland. What about Iceland? Iceland has ice, but not so much ice as Greenland. Iceland has lots of hot spring (温泉). They give out hot water and steam. The climate (气候) is less cold than that in Greenland. And there are a lot more people living in Iceland.

A lot of people play sports, but very few people become sports professionals(专家). If sports aren't going to be your future, then why should you play them? Why should you train every day? Why should you work hard and feel sore(酸痛的) the next day? Wouldn't it be better to forget sports and only pay attention to your lessons? In fact, there are a lot of reasons to play sports.

First of all, sports are a great way to exercise. Exercising keeps you health y and strong. It also helps you stay in a good condition. When you exercise, your body makes endorphins(安多芬) which give you more energy and make you feel happier.

Also, sports teach young people how to communicate and work as a team. They teach young people to respect(尊重) their coaches, teammates and players from the other team. Many reports say that sports help young people stay out of trouble. If a young person plays sports, he or she may have fewer problems. This is because sports teach people about rules. They also teach people that if they work hard, they might succeed.

Another good way of sports is that they make people leave their houses. These days, a lot of people spend too much time watching television and playing video games. When you play sports, you go outside and exercise in the sun. You take in fresh air. All of these things are important.

All in all, maybe you' re not going to become a sports professional, but that doesn't matter, sports will help you become a better and happier person.

The Maya (玛雅) number system(体系) appeared in the fourth century, which was about 1,000 years earlier than the time when the European number system was created. It is different from the Arabic number system with a base 10 (十进制). The Mayan system had a base 20. This system is believed to have been used because the Mayans lived in such a warm area and there was hardly a need to wear shoes, 20 was the total number of fingers and toes, so the system was workable. Therefore, there were two important numbers in this system. Besides 20, the other important number is 5, which had a connection with the number of fingers and toes on one hand or foot.

 The Mayan system used two symbols (符号). A dot (.) was used to mean the units ( one to four) and a dash (—) meant five. The Mayans were also the first to create symbols of nothing ( or zero). The most common symbol was that of a shell but there were several other symbols. It is interesting to learn that with all of the great experts on Maths and scientists in ancient Greece and Rome, it was the Mayan Indians who came up with this symbol zero or nothing. The following picture is a form of different numbers and how they would have been written.

 From further study, people found that the 360 day calendar(日历) also came from the Mayan. They actually used base 18 when they made the calendar. Each month included 20 days with 18 months in a year. This left five days at the end of the year which was month in itself, full of danger and bad luck. In this way, the Mayans had invented the 365 day calendar.

Bangkok, the capital of Thailand (泰国), is also the biggest city in Thailand. Bangkok is a 1 place to shop for jewelry (珠宝) and clothes. They are beautiful but not expensive.
