In nature, you may see many insects(昆虫) and animals of different colors. Have you ever wondered why?
Locusts are super delicious food for birds, but it is not always an easy job for birds to catch them. It is neither because locusts are good jumpers or runners nor because they are smarter than their enemies. The reason is that the colors, of locusts change with the colors of crops(庄稼). When crops are young, locusts look green. But when autumn comes, locusts change to the yellow and brown color as crops do.
Brown bears, tigers and other animals move quietly through forests. They can't be seen easily by their enemies. This is because they have colors similar to the trees. For the same reason, polar bears that live on a land of snow and ice are white. Butterflies and bees living among the flowers are colorful like flowers. Soil insects are mostly dark colored and they live under the soil(土壤)in a dark and wet environment. However, insects with colors different from plants can easily be found and eaten by others. So in order to survive, they have to hide themselves in the daytime and appear only at night.
Have you ever noticed some even stranger acts? The ink fish in the sea can send out some very black ink when it faces danger. As the ink spreads over, its enemies will find themselves suddenly in a dark world. At the same time the ink fish immediately swims away. That is how it keeps itself safe though it is not strong at all.

The noise often influences people's sleep and quiet time. {#blank#}4{#/blank#}There are different kinds of waste produced in our daily life. Many people often throw their rubbish here and there without sorting it, for example, in the street. {#blank#}5{#/blank#}There is a lot of rubbish in the river, which makes the river smelly and dirty. A lot of fish died because of the rubbish pollution. | A. Recycle Paper We should collect wastepaper and recycle it. For example, students should send their used exercise books to a paper factory instead of throwing them away. Then the used books can be sold so that the paper can be recycled. B. Stop Logging(砍伐) The laws are to stop people from cutting trees without permission. We shouldn't take away the land of animals. We should plant more trees instead of cutting them down. Animals' land shouldn't be taken off. C. Sort Waste More cans (垃圾桶) should be put in the street. And it's important to divide different kinds of waste into plastic, paper, metal and glass. Put them into different cans so that they can be recycled. D. Keep Quiet Politely ask neighbors if you are making too much noise or the music is up too loud. Turn the player down and close the window while listening to music. Especially don't make noise at night. E. Wear a Mask Wear a mask to reduce the risk when you are doing exercise like walking or running. Stop exercise in foggy days, or it may do harm to your lung and cause illnesses. F. Clean Up Help clean up rubbish in water-filled areas. This includes lakes, rivers and oceans. Make sure it is safe to collect the rubbish and put it in a nearby can. G. Reuse Wastes Reuse the used clothes, used tools and construction materials (建筑材料). They can be repaired to rework if you have a creative idea. |
Sit back and get relaxed!
These days, we easily feel stressed as we get more and more work to do. It's important to know how to solve problems and find ways to relax.
First, we should try organizing our work from most important to least important as well as most urgent(紧急的) to least urgent. {#blank#}1{#/blank#} As soon as those are done, work on things that are important but not urgent. Then, do things that are less important and less urgent. This makes us know what to do first and not worry about the rest.
Still, sometimes we feel stressed even after organizing our work. That's okay. {#blank#}2{#/blank#} Because exercise helps a lot in forgetting about our problems. It doesn't even have to be a big trip to the gym, although that surely helps. It could be something as small as walking around the neighborhood for 10 to 20 minutes.
Finally, we can try meditation(冥想). {#blank#}3{#/blank#} Just set aside 10 to 20 minutes with an alarm clock, sit straight, close our eyes, and focus only on breathing. If other thoughts come up, accept that they are there and let them fly away on their own. {#blank#}4{#/blank#}
By trying these steps, we will certainly feel peaceful when finishing all of the work.
