牛津深圳版英语九上Module 2 Unit 3 Family life单元测试

根据短文内容,选择正确答案。

The word “day” has two meanings. When we talk about the number of days in a year, we are using “day” to mean 24 hours. But when we talk about day and night, we are using “day” to mean the time between sunrise and sunset. Since the earth looks like a ball, the sun can shine on only half of it at a time. Always one half of the earth is having day and the other half night. A place is moved from day into night and from night into day over and over by the spinning(旋转) of the earth. At the equator(赤道) day and night are sometimes the same length. They are each twelve hours long. The sun rises at 6 in the morning and sets at 6 in the evening. For six months the North Pole is tilted(倾斜) toward the sun. In those months the Northern Hemisphere(半球) gets more hours of sunlight than the Southern Hemisphere. Days are longer than nights. South of the equator nights are longer than days. For the other six months the North Pole is tilted away from the sun. Then the Southern Hemisphere gets more sunlight. Days are longer than night. North of the equator nights are longer than days. Winter is the season of long nights. Summer is the season of long days.

(1)、When the Western Hemisphere is having day, the Eastern Hemisphere is having _________.

A、both day and night B、day C、neither day nor night D、night
(2)、A place is moved from day into night and from night into day over and over by _________ of the earth.

With the development of the technology, 3D printing is becoming more and more popular. We are now able to print things such as clothing, musical instruments and even cars. People and businesses are able to create the things they need very quickly and easily by using 3D printers.

But can you imagine printing food? Some scientists are trying a new way to get the dining experience by doing this. They hope that having a 3D printer in the kitchen will become as common as the oven or blender. Scientists say that they are easy to use: you simply have to choose a recipe (食谱) and put the uncooked "food ink" into a printer. You can also change the instructions to make the food you want. This means that it would be very quick and easy to create tasty and rich meals.

Using 3D printers to create your meals would also be saving the environment. There would be less need for traditional growing, shipping and packaging processes as food products would be a lot quicker and better. For example, tree leaves and insects could be turned into tasty products! Printing food could also help people who have a swallowing (吞咽) trouble. They could program the printer to print softer kinds of foods so that they would not have difficulty swallowing them.

It could take away many jobs, including those for growing, shipping and packaging food. Imagine a world where there was no need for growing or producing and the same tastes could be printed from an uncooked "food ink". Besides, traditional restaurants might lose business. Also, we have to consider: is it really possible to get everything we need from them?

As we know, cooking and eating together with family and friends has long been a traditional and enjoyable activity. It is hard to imagine a world where the pastime of cooking is dead and meals can be created at the touch of a machine.

You might not pay much attention to whether the things you say on WeChat and other online messaging apps are recorded. But a regulation (规定) that went into effect on May 1 will make everything you say online usable against you in a court of law (法庭).

According to the Supreme People's Court's regulation, text messages, emails, and content posted on websites or instant (即时的) messaging platforms can be used as evidence (证据) in civil lawsuits (民事诉讼).

The idea of digital evidence was first introduced as part of China's Civil Procedure Law in 2012. However, the recent regulation has made it clearer.

"This is the first time the Supreme People's Court has clarified (阐明) the scope of digital evidence, especially on social media platforms and instant messaging services," Li Ya, a lawyer in Beijing, told China Daily.

The regulation was introduced to keep up with changes in social development. Social media activity has become a part of most people's lives. Therefore, digital evidence is playing an increasingly important role in civil and criminal lawsuits.

According to the regulation, if people plan to use digital evidence in a lawsuit, they have to first prove that they use the app or website that the evidence comes from. Second, they must provide an original (原始的) and complete record of the evidence. For example, if you lend somebody money through WeChat, you must keep the original transfer (转账) records and conversations on the app.

However, there are still questions about the regulation. Some point out that the regulation will not necessarily help in every case. "How to make sure a microblog was actually posted by the micro blogger is a challenge," Li said.

Getting excited over the Christmas ads (广告) becomes a big tradition for people in the UK. Sainsbury's, the second largest supermarket in theUK, shared its ad called Mog the Cat. The ad was known as"the best Christmas ad ever" according to Twitter.

The ad is about a cat of the Thomas family. In the ad, the cat blew (吹) up the Christmas tree and almost burned(烧) the house. Luckily, she succeeded in phoning the fire service and saved the house.  ▲  Mog felt sorry. As they were worried, the neighbours came together to help the family clean up and enjoy Christmas dinner. Its ending will make you feel all sweet inside. It also carries the saying of Sainsbury's"Christmas is for sharing".

Another reason why the ad is popular is that Mog the Cat is the star of a much- loved children's book. The writer Kerr herself appears in this ad as a neighbour of the Thomas family. This ad also tells us some fire safety facts.

Twitters talked about and enjoyed the ad. One little boy named Jim wrote that the ad was the best Christmas gift he got this year. Jill mixed feelings with the ad. She wrote this ad made her laugh and cry at the same time. And she said, "I don't even like cats. " Another woman wrote, "So far, the Christmas ad of Sainsbury's is the best I've seen this year". People like the ad not only for the funny story but also for the spirit (精神) of Christmas it shows.

Reading can broaden(拓宽)my mind and improve my language skills. Of course, it can also help me to get good grades. Do you know how to read more and learn more?

Here are some tips for you.

{#blank#}1{#/blank#}Before you start reading, ask yourself why you are reading this book. Most people read for two main reasons, pleasure or knowledge. Clearing about your reading purpose can not only help you choose the books you really need to read, but also remind you why reading the book is important to you.

{#blank#}2{#/blank#}No matter what you are reading, it is important to enjoy what you read. Your friends may tell you the books they love, but those books might not necessarily be the ones you enjoy.

{#blank#}3{#/blank#}You may have chosen the books that you are interested in, and they are right to your purpose(目的). But while you are reading them, there may still be some books that you don't enjoy reading. Whenever you realize that you aren't enjoying the book you are reading, give it up.

{#blank#}4{#/blank#}It is interesting that I read the books borrowed from libraries faster than those I bought. The reason is the books I bought don't have a due date(到期日)! I don't need to return those books. Having a reading goal(目标) helps you work out how much reading you need to do in a week or even a day.

A. Set a reading goal at first.

B. Read only what you are interested in.

C. Give up the books that you don't enjoy.

D. Clear the reasons for reading.

E. Borrow some books from the library.

The passage mainly gives some advice on how to{#blank#}5{#/blank#}.

A. choose good books    B. have a good eating habit    C. read and learn more    D. make good relationships
