Do you use your right hands more or left hands more? Very{#blank#}1{#/blank#} of us use both of our hands well. Most people use right hands. Only about five people of a hundred use left hands. New-born babies can take things with {#blank#}2{#/blank#} of their hands, {#blank#}3{#/blank#} in about two years, they like to use {#blank#}4{#/blank#} right hands. Scientists don't know why this happens. They've studied it. They think our animal ancestors used their right hands, this may not be true. Monkeys are our {#blank#}5{#/blank#} relatives in the animal world.
Scientists have found that monkeys like to use one of their hands more than the other—but it can be either hand. There are as many right-handed monkeys as the left -handed {#blank#}6{#/blank#} . Next time you visit the zoo and do watch the monkeys {#blank#}7{#/blank#} . You'll see that some of them will use their right hands and others will use their left hands.        Nancy is from the USA but she   {#blank#}1{#/blank#}  in Shanghai now. She is 12 years old. She {#blank#}2{#/blank#} to Shanghai with her parents because they {#blank#}3{#/blank#} here. Her father {#blank#}4{#/blank#} English in her school and her mother is a doctor.

    “You don't understand.” said the man. “I came to tell you that {#blank#}10{#/blank#} house is on fire."

    My father {#blank#}1{#/blank#} (work) in an office. There {#blank#}2{#/blank#} two large windows in it. One day, a woman in a {#blank#}3{#/blank#} (pass) car looks up and sees my father. My father waves his hands, {#blank#}4{#/blank#} the woman waves back. This gives my father an idea.

    Later, he changes his way of {#blank#}5{#/blank#} (greet) people. He writes signs, like "Hello" or "Be happy". Every afternoon when people go home from work, my father will greet them with the signs. Then they {#blank#}6{#/blank#} （give）my father big smiles.

    The day when I came into the world, my father put a sign {#blank#}7{#/blank#} the window, "I'm a new father!" To his surprise, a sign {#blank#}8{#/blank#} (hold) by some people, saying, "Congratulations!"

    My father learns the {#blank#}9{#/blank#} (true) in the saying, "You smile, and the whole world smiles with you." And he becomes {#blank#}10{#/blank#} first one who greets strangers with signs every day.

    Pablo and I were walking home from playing football. On the way, I told him that our school needed {#blank#}1{#/blank#}football team. At once, Pablo suggested, “Why not run for（竞选）class president so that you can set one up?”

    “Who would want {#blank#}2{#/blank#} (I)?” I asked, surprised at the idea.

    Pablo made a list of reasons: I was the {#blank#}3{#/blank#} (good) student of all in sports and lessons; I was {#blank#}4{#/blank#}(friend) to everyone. When I told him running for president would be much work, he {#blank#}5{#/blank#} (promise) that he would help me.

    I did run, and Pablo did help me. First, we made posters to hang in the hallway. Next, Pablo helped me {#blank#}6{#/blank#}(write) a speech about why I'd make a good class president.

    The big day came. I gave my speech in front of the whole grade, promising my {#blank#}7{#/blank#} (classmate) that if they chose me, I'd start a football team.

    As Pablo and I nervously waited {#blank#}8{#/blank#} the results, I was told that my speech was so successful {#blank#}9{#/blank#} I was the right person to be class president.

    Puerto La Cruz is not a big city but it{#blank#}1{#/blank#} very special. There are fifteen beaches there. Did{#blank#}2{#/blank#} go there? I did.

    On July 16th, my friends and I visited Vallecito Beach. Because it's not far from the city center, we{#blank#}3{#/blank#}to take the bus. But there were too many people, and we {#blank#}4{#/blank#}over thirty minutes for the bus.

    Vallecito Beach is a(n){#blank#}5{#/blank#} place. We had a good time there. And there is a(n){#blank#}6{#/blank#}near the beach. We climbed the hill then. After that, we felt{#blank#}7{#/blank#} so I cooked fish by{#blank#}8{#/blank#}. All my friends said the fish was very delicious!
